The Liberator's 'Great Plan'
"Why won't the Imperium invade? It's been several decades since Karamazov invaded, that's way more than enough time to organize an expedition several times over, even with the Imperium's military's politics and other problems in the Damocles Gulf, and I even have the lightest defenses on the border with the Imperium as I can justify to the Liberation council, and still not one dedicated Force has pierced the Protectorate's borders."
"Oh Frak it, this will get the Liberation council to finally turn against and try to kill me, but I can't handle the pressure of leading this Emperor-forsaken Protectorate anymore, I need to get to the interplanetary Ansible room, I must get the Imperium to finally invade."
Later at the Imperium's Damocles Gulf military HQ
"To start this weekly meeting, Admiral Madison, how goes the preparation for the Slawkenburg expedition fleet?"
"Quite well, Lord General Zyvan, our intelligence has found a optimal route to Slawkenburg, and by all indications our border with them isn't even that well defended on their side, and furthermore -."
The HQ's meeting room's door then bursts open.
"Lord General, I have an important message for you, sir!"
"This better be important, what is it, Lieutenant?"
"News about a broadcast from the Protectorate, from the Black Commissar himself, and it's addressed to us, the broadcast reads and I quote 'Please Imperium, just invade the Protectorate and take back control from the heretics already.' That's the whole broadcast, and I must note that the Black Commissar said all that in quite a panicked voice."
"You're dismissed lieutenant."
The lieutenant leaves and closes the door on her way out.
"Hmm, the Black Commissar is many things but panicked isn't one of them, it must have been deliberate, perhaps he's trying to make us think he's betraying his Protectorate, which a heretic like him would never do as they would never change their ways nor give up all that power, it must be a trap to make us invade them, setting up an ambush for us once we do and maul our forces, but why do this now, and not earlier, maybe he learned our plans and is trying to goad us into a earlier invasion as to make our preparation hastier and turn our invasion into a disaster, wait, but if he knows..."
The meeting room then goes quiet, with Lord General Zyvan falling silent for a few minutes.
Admiral Madison then decides to speak up. "Uhh, sir, what are we going to do about this, this throws all our invasion plans into complete disarray, maybe we could tighten up our security and then change our invasion route, it will take a while to change them at this point but it could wor-."
"NO, ahem, I'm sorry Madison but no, this is the Black Commissar after all, he has to have accounted for that, I don't want to say this, as we only now after all this time have finally both gathered the resources, units, ships, and officers for a second expedition, and have a golden opportunity where there's currently no bigger threat at the moment that would be unchecked if we go after them, but I'm afraid I must disband the expedition until such a time we can launch an invasion without being led into a trap."
"... As much as I want to disagree, I'm understand sir, it must be done, I'll tell all the officers this news personally myself."
" Good, you may be dismissed, Admiral."
"Thank you sir." He then gets up and leaves the room.
Lord General Zyvan's fist then slams into the table "DAMN THAT TRAITOR COMMISSAR."
Back at the Liberation Palace on Slawkenburg
"What did you need to meet me for Jafar?"
"Our spies based at the Imperium's sector military HQ have sent us important news."
"Oh, what do they say?"
"Apparently the Imperium had been planning a invasion of the Protectorate for the past few years now, and there's been a important development a few days ago."
'Oh thank the Emperor, so I didn't even need to make that broadcast' "Oh really, why haven't you bought the Liberation council to this meeting? We must start preparing for the Imperium's wrath right away."
"You need not worry, Liberator, the invasion force has actually just been disbanded."
'...What?' "Please explain, Jafar."
"Well sir, they heard your broadcast, and figured out it was a trap and decided to not invade us. But I must ask, how did you know of their plans, our spies surprisingly just learned of their invasion plans, but you had to have known for a long time to have thought of your broadcast plan, I must say it was absolutely brilliant, if they invaded we would know and been able to set up an ambush to wipe out their invasion fleet and their prior preparations wouldn't have been complete besides if they had decided to invade now, if they didn't invade, which they evidently decided not to, they would lose years of effort and preparations and give us the opportunity to shore up our borders to them so we're not at this risk again, does your genius mind know no bounds?!"
'AHHHHH, how does this keep happening!?'
AN: This is my first long piece of fiction writing online, and my second overall, if you have any questions or criticisms please voice them, I want to approve as a writer, and frankly while writing this I cringed at what I was writing, but that's my self doubt talking, what's your guys honest opinion?
Also l know that, as the Ansible are only two way between just two different Ansible's, that the Imperium wouldn't have been able to pick up Cain's 'brilliant' message, but for the sake of the plot I just bullcrapped a way for them to hear it.
Anyways, Thanks for reading my little omake.
