Making their way down the hill into Magnolia proper, Cobra kept up a rigorous pace, occasionally leaving Macbeth lagging behind. "You can slow down a little," the leaner man complained, nearly tripping over a branch.
"Can it. You brought this upon yourself, remember? With your own sick little love scheme."
Cobra could hear the eye roll in Macbeth's voice. "It wasn't a scheme. She was just saying one day how she wished she…" His voice trailed off before dying unceremoniously. The next utterance was higher pitched. "Th-That's not important right now. Just where are we headed anyways?"
The dragonslayer turned back to smile at the reflector mage. A toothy grin if there was any. "Where? Where else?" Cobra continued on his trek down, starting to whistle, knowing Macbeth probably already had a fairly good idea.
Indeed, the only place on Cobra's mind was that detestable Love Doctor shack. It was the only place he could think of to return to, the place where it all began. Where else would he go?
Unfortunately…
"It's completely deserted," he sighed. In the front the "door" (really just some tarp) was sealed shut with some chords and…were those runes? A hastily scrawled sign confirmed the patron half "closed for business". Even using the key on the back side yielded no one. He should have expected this after everything from yesterday, but it truly seemed like no one had been around for at least a day. Cobra locked the door to the normal side and closed his eye in thought.
"Did you think someone would be here?" Macbeth asked.
Cobra gave him a side-eye. "As much as it pains me, knowing where Mirajane is would have been useful. As well as…" He couldn't quite admit to the second part of that statement. "Anyway, guess this was a long shot. Maybe she's at the guild? Normally she'd be at work, right?"
Macbeth paused and put a hand on his chin. "You know, we might be able to kill two birds with one stone."
"Hmm? How so?"
"I mean…I think I know where Mirajane is," he gave Cobra a knowing look, "and by extension, Lucy."
