To Cobra's eternal shame, it took him a second too long to grasp who she was referring to, but the moment he did he rejected it with his entire being. "No."
"Come on! We know right where she is, and you already know that she's been there so it's not a secret." She wagged her finger reproachfully. "And she was just there! We could observe her and then compare her to others we know went in before that!"
The word No echoed in increasing intensity across Cobra's brain, although all he did on the outside was grimace. "I'm not asking Sorano anything about yesterday."
"Then maybe I will." He balked. Lucy smirked. "You didn't think I would do it by myself, did you? It'll be fun, we'll do our nails, discuss the latest mage-wear line, and inquire into each other's recent histories with strange love doctors!" She laughed. Or maybe it was a cackle. Either way, it was disturbing.
"She's not going to open up to you like that. She doesn't even like you."
Lucy stopped laughing. "You didn't have to mention that…but I'm sure I'll find a way. And I won't give away the secret. That's the important part, rig–" A hand snatched at her side, and she flinched, bewildered. Then she noticed her hands were empty. "Hey! Give that back."
"Nope." Cobra desperately thumbed through pages, hoping beyond hope that there was a name he would recognize that was around so that they could go badger them instead of Sorano. Not that there was much hope in that, seeing as how he could barely name the people in Lucy's own guild half the time. Still, anyone would be better than Sorano. Anyone.
"…You two are up quite early. Are you doing errands as well?"
The pair wheeled around at the unexpected voice.
