Conversations In The Dark
Chapter 17
Months Later
Life was changing. Saul and Shane. Were growing bigger stronger and coming into their own as the days and weeks went on. They were 1 year old now. I was a puddle of tears throughout the day.
They slept through the night now. Their diets had more variety in it. They were talking and walking now.
Being a mother. Is the role and title I hold closest to my heart. Along with being a wife.
Married to my first and only love. Becoming Mrs. Brooke Scott. Was one of the greatest days of my life.
I had my successful fashion line. But was life perfect.
No but real life and relationships never were.
Especially under the microscope of Small town life.
The spotlight of celebrity. Becoming a parent gave me a very new and evolved perspective.
I wanted and yearned for a private life. Outside of work obligations.
My life revolved around my kids and our home. My store.
But Lucas yearned for everything he never had in this world.
For me. It started in high school. With my line and grew into so much more.
For Lucas his career came later after alot of rejection.
So when it all became real. I wasn't going to hold him back or complain.
I loved seeing him in his element. We had always been each other's biggest support system.
When they got a little older. 2. 3. And seeing their dad's face on posters and at bookstores.
The unconditional love we yearned for all our lives.
Were given in endless amounts by Shane and Saul.
When they turned four. Lucas read to the class.
The boys were beaming with excitement. Full of joy and pride over their dad.
While I became the the very involved mom I had always yearned to be.
Shane and Saul had preschool and their activities. I had them on a schedule and it was important to stick to it.
...
Lucas stopped shooting baskets at the River court. Looking up at the sound of footsteps. Lucas smiled up at the familiar face.
(Can't sleep?) Lucas asked.
(Isn't that why you're here?) Rachel asked.
(I need to get back to a normal sleep pattern. I've been out of town as you know.) Lucas replied.
