Hey, guys! I'm not sure where this idea came from, but I always felt like we were robbed of Alison and Wayne interacting. It would've been an interesting scene. I have other ideas about that and also on Emison telling Pam/ Jason/ the girls in a proper way.
Btw, I will be reupdating Ali's Guide to the Art of Love. Yes, that story will have an ending.
Enjoy!
Alison dreams about Wayne. Set before the proposal in 7x20.
Alison knew she was dreaming. She was wearing a white dress as she walked through a garden. The scene felt too peaceful to be real. Alison knew her world was chaotic, even with A long gone now. Taking care of a set of twins had warranted her enough adventures of a lifetime. She loved her life though. She had Emily and two beautiful daughters.
Alison spotted a handsome man waiting for her in the end of the garden. He was wearing white clothes as well and Alison immediately recognized him and it brought her to the brink of tears. She knew who he was, she just never thought she'd dream of him.
He waved at her and motioned for her to come closer.
"Mr. Fields!"
Alison would never forget about him. Wayne was the only father in Rosewood she had respected when she was a teenager. Not only was he the father of the girl she loved, but he was strong, calm, and inspiring. Alison really wondered what he thought of her. His opinions mattered because he was Emily's father. If he didn't think she was enough for his daughter, then Alison would work her ass off to prove she was worthy of Emily's heart.
It's a shame they didn't get to have this conversation while Wayne was alive.
"I think you can call me Wayne at this point, Alison."
"Wayne…" Alison tried, but it didn't sit well. She felt like she hadn't earned his blessing yet.
Yet, he only gave her a warm smile and opened up his arms as if he expected her to come and hug him. At this point, Alison broke. She cried in the arms of the man who had been such a rock in Emily's life and had molded her character. Alison wished that he could've been there for his granddaughters too.
"I'm sorry for hurting Emily all these years," she found herself saying. Alison knew Emily had forgiven her a long time ago and that they had worked past their issues, but she still had to know if Wayne forgave her, just like Pam had.
"I've already forgiven you, Alison," he comforted her. "I should've said something. All those times Emily brought you home and I could feel something was up with you and your family, but I convinced myself that I was seeing things. If I had spoken up at that time, then maybe you would've found your way to each other without all that pain."
Alison cried a little harder. Wayne had seen through her pain when she was younger. No wonder Emily took after him.
"It wasn't your fault," she dismissed his apology.
"And you were just a misguided kid when you were younger. But you've grown into such a strong woman. My daughter-in-law and the mother of my beautiful granddaughters. I couldn't be more proud of Emily for choosing you."
He pulled her away from his arms to stare right into her eyes. Somehow, Wayne seemed to know what had been troubling her.
"I know you want to propose to my daughter, but you doubt if you deserve her love," he observed.
"I do… I mean, I want to marry Emily, but somewhere in my heart I still believe that someday she'll just wake up and decide that I'm too much and that she deserves better than me. And I wouldn't blame her for that."
"Alison, I know that Emily has loved you ever since you two met. You were always her first choice."
The blonde let the tears stream down her eyes, thinking about how much time she spent running away from her feelings and from herself instead of just cherishing Emily like she deserved to. It was time to woman up.
"Wayne, do I get your blessing? I promise I will do whatever I can to make her the happiest woman for as long as I live."
"You have my blessing, kid," Wayne nodded. "Talk to my wife, she has something for you. We'd always dreamed about our little girl getting married. I know our reality turned out to be a lot different than what we'd imagined, but we still want to see that our daughter is taken care of."
"Thank you, Wayne. I wish you had the chance to walk her down the aisle. I know Emily would've wanted this too."
"I'll be there, kid," he promised. "Blink and you'll miss it."
Alison woke up with noises coming from the kitchen. Emily was probably up and making breakfast for them and for the girls. She was so adamant and stubborn, always insisting on doing things on her own instead of asking for help. In reality, Emily didn't have the heart to wake Alison from a good night of sleep. But the blonde didn't really mind getting up and sharing her mornings with Emily.
Then, she remembered dreaming about Wayne. Alison was sure that it had been a creation of her own mind, but she'd let herself dwell on the delusion of Wayne giving her his blessing. He had told her to talk to Pam because she had something that might help her. Alison couldn't help but wonder what it was.
She didn't mention her dream to Emily because she knew that her girlfriend still hadn't gotten over her father's dad. Honestly, how do you get over something like that? Alison still had moments where she grieved her mother despite everything Jessica had done to her and her family. She could only imagine what it was like for Emily to have lost her father, who was her rock in this world.
(Later on that week, Alison found that Pam did have a ring for her, so her dream might have been more real than she had imagined.)
Alison stared as Emily walked down the aisle. She was the most beautiful woman she had ever seen. The girl she had loved ever since they were teenagers. The mother of her daughters. Her everything. And she looked so gorgeous in her white sundress that it overwhelmed Alison so much that she cried. Emily smiled bashfully, like she did whenever she knew that her fianceé, soon to be wife, was appreciating her. Emily's smile only grew wider as she took in the floral dress Alison was wearing.
She took a long time to convince Emily that she should be the one waiting for her at the altar. Alison had argued that Emily had waited for her their whole lives, so it wouldn't hurt her to be the one waiting for the brunette to walk down the aisle instead.
That and Alison kind of wanted to see if she could check a glimpse of Wayne. It was foolish, she knew. Maybe the whole "talk to Pam" thing was only a happy coincidence. Whatever it was, Alison still chose to believe what she saw in her dream, so she chose to believe Wayne would be there in their wedding, regardless if they could see him or not.
Alison had been so in her feelings that she almost missed Wayne. One second she was watching her soon to be wife walking down to her with Pam by her side. On the other, she saw a man wearing a white shirt standing right beside Emily.
Wayne smiled, winked at her, and disappeared as fast as he came. But it was enough for Alison to know that he'd come to watch their wedding. In silence, Alison added another line to her vows.
"Thank you for entrusting your daughter to me. I promise to make her the happiest woman alive for as long as we're breathing."
