"Ah said ah got it Bobby!" Rogue snapped after what seemed like the 100th time.
"Hey I know you do Rogue." Bobby quickly grabbed her elbow to stop her from continuing stomping down the lower hall and towards one of their danger room sessions Hank McCoy otherwise known as Beast had them do at the last minute to try out many of the new improvements, he had made recently along with one of his old colleagues.
When they had asked about the whereabouts of Logan since they lost track of him during the mall incident, Warren and Scott simply said that he had things to do and for them to go on ahead.
"Then how come you keep askin' me and not Kitty, Jubes or anyone else?" she pointedly crossed her arms."
"Rogue-"
"Ah don't see you giving them a hard time when it's time to train. Or pull them aside to have the same conversation before any missions."
"I know, I'm sorry." Feeling like a complete ass he gave her an apologetic look. "I didn't mean for it to come out that way. I think you can handle yourself out there just fine Rogue. I just want you to be careful."
"Ah know you do, but you also know that this ain't my first time in the Danger Room. Just because ah don't have my powers doesn't mean I'm helpless."
"I know that." He said attempting to grab her hand and frowned when she flinched away.
"Sorry." She quickly forced herself to carefully accept his hand once more.
Ever since she took that cure everyone treated her more delicately, seeming to forget that she was more than capable to handle herself even without her powers. And thanks to Logan's training and teaching her self-defense she could hold her own. She knew that he did that to make sure she would be ok, and he always worried about her like a father figure which she welcomed since she never had the chance to meet her actual parents.
It was still surprising how she and Logan met and how that meeting alone eventually turned into a strong bond between the two of them. So anytime she had free time she would help out Logan with the younger mutants' trainings which gave her time to train more as well.
But when it came time to train with the other X-men or they had missions to go to, everyone always looked at her with the same pitiful worried eyes they always did. She knew they didn't mean it that way, that they just worried about her, and she was honestly grateful to have such wonderful people in her life. But she would be lying if it didn't continue to constantly bother her.
"Rogue?" Snapping out of her thoughts when she saw Bobby staring down at her with concerned eyes, she forced a small smile knowing he meant well.
"It's fine Bobby. Now let's get in there before Ms. Danvers gives us another earful for being late."
"You're right. Last time that was rough."

Lazily flicking another card into the trash bin next to the oak desk, Remy silently cursed his luck for being dragged in here with the only sound in the room being that of the constant ticking of the annoying small antique clock sitting on the pristine desk- which if the annoying ticking didn't stop anytime soon he would have no choice but to 'accidently' flick a card in that direction.
I seemed that the grumpy Canadian who was watching him like a hawk and currently leaning against the wall behind him didn't like it either since he would catch his eye twitch every so often. With a barely noticeably smile Remy could see Logan still keeping his eyes on him trying to make sure he wouldn't try and escape- which for the record if he wanted to he could. He had already figured out a few ways on how to get out of this place before they even set foot in this office.
He was just intrigued about why Logan even wanted to bring him here in the first place, instead of just catching up somewhere else.
With every flick of the wrist, he could see the other guy in the room stiffly standing next to the desk losing his patience too by the way he kept frowning since he couldn't necessarily see past his red shades, but who was he to talk since he wore his own too.
"Think you can knock that off?"
"Why? Does dis bother you mon ami?" Remy's sly grin made an appearance as he made himself more comfortable in the seat facing the desk. "Tell ya what, if you ask me nicely den maybe I will."
"That's it-"
Clearing his throat in warning, Scott saw as the Wolverine was about to push off the wall intent on teaching this punk some manners.
"And what's with shades?" Logan asked with clear annoyance, already having a list of questions at the ready.
"What's with de questions?" Remy asked back before turning to look smugly at the other guy in the room who was watching their interaction. "He constantly asks you dis too?"
Parting his mouth to respond Scott along with the other two men in the room stopped to see the door slowly open.
"I see you both made it home safe as well." The professor warmly smiled as he wheeled himself in. "And I heard we have a visitor." He turned to see Scott nodding as he moved behind his desk.
"Professor-" Scott began to talk but stopped when he saw the professor lift his hand to stop him, no doubt trying to get a read on this newcomer.
Remy saw the professor's intriguing eyes silently watching him with a knowing smile. He already knew what he was after, so with a sly smile he playfully tapped the side of his head. "Tryin' to get in here are we? Hate to disappoint but no can do."
"Interesting." Professor Xavier amusingly whispered, leaning back in his seat and linking his fingers together.
"Watcha got to hide?" Logan remained leaning against the wall, he didn't know what it was about this guy that rubbed him the wrong way and he sure as hell wasn't going to let him stick around and pull one over on them.
With a half chuckle Remy shook his head briefly looking down. "Nothin' to hide here Logan. Just prefer my privacy is all."
"Logan?" Scott quizzically titled his head to stare at the other man along with the professor. "Logan, do you know this guy?"
"I don't…." He started to say, his face was a clear indication that he didn't remember.
"It's quite alright Logan." The professor finally glanced at the other two men in the room before meeting Remy's eyes once more. "And rest assured Mr…?"
"Name's Remy LeBeau." He smiled proudly, tilting his head unaware of the frown on Logans face. "But I go by Gambit."
"Of course."
Ignoring Logans mumbled remark, Remy eyed the older man in front of him with interest since the last time he had seen him he looked younger, not to mention he could walk. Did something happen within the last few months that now had this man in a wheelchair? "An' you must be de famous Charles Xavier, non?"
"So, you've heard of me?"
"Word get's around where I'm from prof." He smirked.
"Professor Charles Xavier." Scott firmly said with an edge to his voice.
"It's alright Scott." The professor warmly smiled. "Mr. Gambit rest assured that the last thing we want is to invade your privacy in any way, but you must understand that with all the students living under my care I need to be cautious about who we let in here."
"Not plannin' on stayin' here sir." He slightly fidgeted in his seat raising his eyes to the older man in amusement. "An' Gambit's just fine."
"Unbelievable." Logan scoffed, rolling his eyes and moving to stand next to Remy's chair to face the professor. "Look the reason he's here is because of what happened at the mall Chuck."
"You mean with the Friends of Humanity." Professor Xavier nodded, fully aware of what had happened earlier that day since it was all in the news.
"De who?" furrowing his brows Remy made to turn towards the burly man but grunted irritably when he felt Logan roughly push him back down by the shoulder.
"Pipe down punk and let the grown-ups talk." Logan addressed the professor next ignoring Remy's glare. "Those bastards had it coming, and it's not like we were the ones that started this mess."
"Hate to agree with Logan on this one Professor. But we didn't start this fight." Scott said now standing on the opposite side of Remys chair. "We had everything under control until Gambit-"
"Woah now hold on a minute." Sitting upright, Remy now stared in both shock and amusment. "You not tryin' to pin all this on dis one are you? Because dat bâtard had a gun."
"Did he now?" The Professor asked both men who reluctantly nodded. He had heard that The FOH had begun to carry firearms, but to target kids was unthinkable.
"An' de only reason I'm here is because you dragged me here mon ami."
"You think I'm going to let you run around and cause any more trouble than you already have?" Logan barked back shaking his head. "And it's not like you didn't try and flee."
Thinking back on the trip to the mansion, Remy couldn't help but suppress a laugh at the memory. He was sure he had lost the Wolverine quite a few times on the drive back with his own motorcycle but what he failed to remember was how good Logan was at sniffing out people with his nose.
So, after a few failed attempts at losing him, he ended up here. Not that they could keep him here anyways since he had already figured out at least six - make that seven way on how to get out of this place but decided to stay here and hear why they were so adamant about bringing him here.
"Something funny?" Logan lifted a brow.
"Nothin' at all." Smirking, Remy crossed his ankles on top of each other and smugly placed his hands on the back of his head while leaning back in his seat. "Just find it funny dat I only happen to show up after de two of you couldn't seem to handle dose guys."
"Hey! I had everything under control Cajun." Logan grits his teeth lifting him up by the collar of his trench coat.
"Logan." Scott said.
"And I'm sure you did." Remy grinned in a challenging way that made Logans grip tighten.
"Watch it bub."
"Didn't help that you got in that guy's face either." Scott mumbled which just made Logan snare at him.
"Oh, like you did any better. Once again, I'm not the one who blew a hole in that damn place." Logan roughly let go of Remy and shoved him back down in his seat much to Remy's annoyance.
"So, who actually started this confrontation?" The professor tiredly rubbed his temple.
"He did!" Both Logan and Scott pointed fingers at each other
Chuckling Remy lifted his hands as if being dismissed and began getting up. "So I'll just be goin'-"
"I don't think so." Logan shoved him back down before addressing the Professor. "Chuck those punks were harassing the children and were armed. No way in hell were we just going to just sit by and not do anything."
"Does the government even know how far the Friends of Humanity are willing to go?"
"I doubt they do Scott." The professor frowned.
"Right." Logan sarcastically rolled his eyes.
"I'll ask Hank about it, since it is possible that there might be some rogue operators inside the FOH."
"Doubt that they'll just come out and admit it if they were all involved either way."
"Perhaps you're right Logan. But we still want to make sure we take cautious steps and not just jump to conclusions." The professor said before locking eyes with Remy. "In the meantime, I'd love to talk more with you if that's alright Gambit."
"Afraid I've overstepped my welcome already good sir. Besides, I've got places to be." Getting to his feet he slapped both men on the shoulder, daring them to stop him from leaving when the Professor nodded. "Dis was fun, we definitely shouldn't do dis again."
"Scott-"
"No worries prof I'm sure dis one can find his way out." Remy waved over his shoulder.
"Very well. If you change your mind our doors always open to you Gambit."
With a curt nod he quickly opened the door and stepped out into the hall, closing it behind himself. "No thanks." He mumbled but had to just as quickly jump out of the way when a few kids ran past him laughing.
"No fair! You cheated!" A little boy yelled behind another.
Inhaling deeply, he let his eyes roam around the area with a few more students walking past him clearly in a hurry to get places. After a while he let his eyes zero in on a rather large bulky guy who walked by carrying a dresser on his right shoulder like it didn't weigh anything.
"Hey." The guy said with a friendly nod as he passed by and continued on down the hall.
Shaking his head he was about to head on down the hall to find his way out until he saw two people walk out of a room in the same direction the larger guy with the dresser was headed. "Merde…" he breathed out as he watched the couple stop to talk to the guy.
The same girl from before with the long auburn hair with the white strands framing her face stood there flicking her hair out of her face as she continued to smile at the conversation she was having with the other two men, and he couldn't stop himself from smiling.
How long he had been standing there he did not know until her emerald eyes briefly turned in his direction and just as he was about to take a step towards them his vision got blocked when someone stepped in front of him.
"Where do you think you're going?" Logan crossed his arms over his broad chest.
Scoffing, Remy gave a half smile. "Last I checked I was free to leave homme."
"You are. So, what happened? Got lost on your way out?"
"Maybe." Grinning like the cheshire cat he saw Logans eye twitch a second before he grabbed Remy by his coat and slammed him against the wall.
Wincing Remy cursed under his breath when Logan repositioned his grip on him. "Watch de coat."
"What are you still doing here? Figured you'd be long gone by now."
"Maybe I was lookin' for de bathroom?" Remy grinned when he saw Logan dangerously lean closer.
"Listen bub, you may have the professor fooled but I'm not someone so easily convinced."
"Could've fooled me." Remy grunted when Logan slammed him back again. "Last I recall you were de one tryin' to convince me to help you Logan. Wanna ease up on de grip?"
"And another thing…" Logan sneered making sure to keep his voice down even though he knew students walking by began to whisper but they knew better than to stay and watch with Logan around. "Don't talk to me like we're buddies. I don't know you and I don't care to know you."
"Now you're just tryin' to hurt me." Remy chuckled but it was short lived when he felt the other man's piercing eyes suddenly change. "Wait…you really don't remember me do you…?"
He could see Logans eyes briefly flicker with something a kin to sadness and knew that any hope he had left of asking the Wolverine for help quickly vanished.
"Wonder what's going on there." Bobby frowned gesturing down the hall when they saw Logan pin someone to the wall.
"Don't know." Rogue said just as confused. Sure, Logan could be rough around the edges at times but never had she seen him this riled up in school at least.
"Didn't know Logan knew the new kid." Piotr hummed.
"New kid?" Rogue asked as they turned to look back down the hall.
"Maybe old buddies?" Bobby thought out loud but from what he could tell at the moment it didn't seem like it.
"Who pissed off the Wolverine?" Jubilee popped her gum as she approached with their teacher.
"Wait what's going on?" Ororo said in alarm just as confused as she stared down the hall.
"Not sure. That's what we're trying to figure out." Bobby said.
"This is ridiculous." Marching down the hall Ororo spoke over her shoulder at the few students who were still close by. "Everyone out of the hall, there's nothing to see here."
"Aw man." Pouting Jubilee along with the others made their way towards the rec room to find something to do.
"Logan-" Remy tried again but had to snap his mouth shut when three long, metal claws came out from between his knuckles.
"Oh, no I remember you." Logans eyes narrowed the way a dog would look at an intruder. "I remember you telling me my name on that Island as the whole damn place came crashing down around me."
"Dat wasn't-" Remy hissed when the metal claws moved closer to his face.
"Now I don't know what happened nor do I care at the moment. All I know is that you had something to do with it. So, the best thing for you to do right now Gumbo is to leave, and don't bother coming back."
Clenching his jaw Remy met his determined gaze. "Don't plan on it."
"Good."
"Logan what is this?!" Ororo tried to step in between them. "I thought we said no more of this in the school grounds."
"Should really read up on your policies on how to treat guests." Remy glared when Logan finally released him.
Recognizing that voice, it took Ororo a few seconds to finally turn around to come face to face with someone she thought long gone. Gasping, she placed her hands on her mouth, taking a frightening step back as if she's just seen a ghost.
"Relax Storm, I've got it handled." Logan rolled his eyes but stopped when he saw her continue to stare wide eyed at the kid. "What's with you?"
"By the goddess it can't be…" she whispered, her wide blue eyes never leaving the same face she became so fond of when she was just a little girl. "Remy?"
"De one an' only." Angrily fixing his trench coat while still glaring at the Wolverine, he abruptly turned to leave. Usually, he would be flattered when any female knew his name or made an attempt at speaking to him, but right now he couldn't think of anything but trying to get the hell as far away from this place as he could.
"R-Remy." Blinking the confusion and shock from her face, Ororo quickly made to follow after. "Remy wait!"
"Storm? Storm!" Lifting an eyebrow, Logan watched as she ran after the guy.
"Everything ok?" Scott asked as he and the professor exited the office after hearing all the commotion.
"Not sure." Logan spoke over his shoulder as he followed after her, wondering what the hell had gotten into her.
"Remy!"
Feeling like he'd already overstayed his welcome; he swiftly opened the front door when he felt someone grab his arm.
"Remy wait!"
"Listen as flattered as I am dat my reputation precedes me. Dis ones in a bit of a hurry." He spoke as he moved his arm away, eyeing the woman. "An' by a beautiful femme at dat."
"Remy it's me." She stared with hopeful eyes as Logan, Scott and the professor managed to finally catch up. "Don't you remember me?"
"Wait you know this punk?" Logan furrowed his brows, becoming more confused by the second.
"Look I'm sure whatever night we had must've been wonderful." He rolled his eyes. Usually, he wouldn't behave this rudely but right now he was short of time and this place clearly didn't welcome the likes of him. "an' I'm sure we'll do dat again sometime. But right now, I've got business to take care of."
Ignoring the blush creeping into her face and the small smile wanting to appear, she shook her head. "Whatever happened to the charming guy I used to follow around?"
"Pardon?" Lifting his brows, he studied the woman in front of him again. She did seem oddly familiar, but he was sure he would have remembered her even with a few drinks in him. No that wasn't it…
"Remy…what happened to you?" Shaking her head, still unsure if this was a dream or a horrible illusion, she hesitantly placed her hand on his shoulder as her voice began to break. "I thought you were dead."
"Storm?" Scott asked, getting Remy's attention.
"Storm…?" Remy repeated eyes slowly widening when he now recognizes the long white hair and beautiful blue eyes of the little girl he used to know. "Stormy?"
As the first tear dropped from her eyes, she silently nodded her head. "It's me Remy."
"Stormy!" Happily grinning, Remy quickly wrapped her up in a tight embrace as she did the same and smiling in the process. "What de hell happened to you?! Last time I saw you you were dis petite little thing, now look at you!"
Laughing, she couldn't stop smiling when he finally eased up on the hug. "I've grown up."
"Oui I can see dat." He gestured towards her figure. "What happened to you Stormy?"
"Stormy?" Logan mockingly asked which briefly got her attention.
"Long story." She waved off with a small smile. "But I should be asking you that Remy. What happened?"
"Long story too." He chuckled.
"Well we got time!" Logan huffed crossing his arms and looking at the other two men next to him. "Wanna help me out here?"
Suppressing a smile Professor Xavier wheeled himself closer. "I believe what Logans' trying to ask is whether or not you two would like to accompany us back to the office so you can talk in private."
"Dat's alright I should be goin anyways." Remy warily glanced at Logan.
"Nonsense. You're more than welcome here." She said following his line of sight then remembering what had occurred in the hallway before she intervened. "Remy's an old friend of mine."
"What?!" Both Scott and Logan gaped.
"Only last time I saw you, you couldn't reach de wheel Storm." His voice suddenly turned worried. "What's with de change?"
"And you…don't look any different…." She trailed off in realization as shocked eyes began roaming over him. "How did this happen Remy?" She breath out. "You still look like you did back then when I last saw you."
"What?" Chuckling, he eyed her skeptically thinking that now she was playing some kind of joke on him and based on the others' shocked expression they were in on it. "What you talkin' bout Stormy? Dat was just de other day."
"Oh god…" Whispering she briefly closed her eyes and chose her next words carefully since the simple thought felt impossible. "Remy, what year is this?"
Repeatedly parting his mouth, he let out a small chuckle but decided to play along. "1980 of course." When everyone remained silent, he began to suddenly get worried and let his smile fade. "What's dis about?"
"Oh my dear boy…" the professor closed his eyes shaking his head. He knew something was off but never in his wildest dreams would something like this cross his mind.
"No Remy…" Storm reluctantly said with small tears in her eyes. "It's not."
