"You do know where you're goin' right?" she worriedly asked. He did seem like he knew but after another hour of seeing nothing but fields she began to question it.

"Course I do." He really didn't know. But he wasn't going admit it to her out loud and was about to pull out his phone to check when a red car began to slow down in front of them. "Come on!" frustratingly honking the horn had Rogue turn to him in disbelieve. "What?"

"There could be a poor little old lady drivin' the car Gambit."

"Drivin' a red mustang?" He unconvincingly chuckled and honked the horn again when the car began to slow down some more. "Come on, move it Selma!" He shouted out the window as Rogue gave another disbelieving shake of her head. "What Chere? I ain't gettin' a ticket for drivin' slow."

"Ya'll not supposed to be drivin' either way!" she fired back. "The last thing we need is to be pulled over again."

"Exactly." He agreed before honking the horn again until the car slowed down long enough to drive right next to them.

"Now you've done it." Rogue deeply exhaled before the driver of the red mustang rolled down their window to leer at her. It turned out it wasn't an old lady. In fact, Selma turned out to be two guys around their age who no doubt were out for a joyride.

"Dere be your little ole lady Chere." He irritatingly shook his head when he heard the guys trying to get her attention as Rogue tried to sink further into her seat and pretend as if she didn't hear them.

After they realized she wasn't paying them no mind they quickly began speeding up again until Remy had to forcibly slow down once they got in front of them again.

By the sudden anger on Remy's face, Rogue quickly shook her head. "Don't you even think about it Gambit."

"Rogue…"

"There just being idiots." She said until the driver of the other car extended his arm out the window flipping him off. "Great." She pressed her lips together when she saw them pulling off to the side of the road with Remy having no problem doing the same. "Remy…" she only managed to say before she heard the unmistakable sound of him removing his seat belt.

"I be back Chere."

"Remy don't!" Her eyes bounced between him and the other driver who had already stepped out of his car. "This is ridiculous." She quickly grabbed onto his arm. "Don't. You're gonna get us in trouble."

"I ain't gonna hurt him too badly." He frowned like it was the most rational thing to ask of him as he began putting his sunglasses on.

"No." she repeated a little more firmly. "If we get caught you know who will hear about this."

"Qu'il en soit ainsi." He shrugged.

"No!" She repeated trying to stop him from getting out of the car and doing something stupid that they'll both regret. Not to mention if someone found out that they're mutants they'll somehow find a way to twist things in their favor. "Please. Ah'll owe you if you just use your head for once. We can't afford to screw this up." She could see him tilting his head and regarding her for a minute which she at least found as a good sign.

"You'll owe me?" he reiterated before looking back at the guy who continued to try and taunt him. It was beginning to be really difficult not to get out of this car and fix that smug look on the other guy's face, but she did have a point. Not to mention the thought of Rogue owing him a favor sounded more appealing than getting out of this car.

"Yeah sure whatever. Let's just get out of here." She pleaded and was thankful when he slightly nodded but made sure while driving passed them to press on the gas so hard that the mustang along with the driver was covered in muddied up dirt from the previous night followed by a small POPPING sound.

Turning her head she could see the hint of a smile on his lips as he continued to let his arm dangle outside the window for a few seconds before rolling the window up.

It was a long few minutes before he glanced over at her with a mischievous twinkle in his eyes. "Better be careful when you make deals Chere."

"What's that supposed to mean?" she angrily asked.

"Nothin'." He shook his head before reaching into his pocket and stopping himself just as her phone alerted her of another message. "Just be careful when makin' a deal with any thief."

"And why's that?" she crossed her arms.

"Just a word of advice is all. Never make a deal unless you know what you're gettin' into."

"Is that a threat?"

"Course not. Never felt de need to threaten anyone. Least of all a pretty femme."

"And that actually works?" She couldn't help but snort as she covered her mouth in revulsion.

"Don't sound so shocked Chere. Might hurt a poor fellows feelin's." He smirked when he remembered the interaction with Rogue back at the diner and made it a point to raise a napkin with her number on it. "'sides didn't hear de waitress complain' when she gave me dis."

"Unbelievable." She huffed, turning her head. "You may have all the gals at school fooled, but Ah know you're type."

He raised an intrigued brow, a smirk forming on his lips. "Been askin' around 'bout dis one? I'm flattered Chere."

"Not on your life." She silently laughed just as another thought occurred to her. "How do you do it?"

"Do what?"

"Is that another one of your mutations?"

With a secretive smile he debated whether or not he should tell her. His empathy was something he usually liked to keep quiet about since it would help him out in sticky situations if he needed to use it. But the thought of using it on Rogue made his stomach nauseatingly turn. "Empathy."

"What?" she quizzically blinked back.

"It's…one of my mutations." He explained. "Call it what you want…Empathy…charm…it all allows me to sense and understand how someone feels. At times even allow me to…persuade things in my favor."

"Do you use it often?" she softly asked noticing the way his brows furrowed.

"Non." He shook his head with a confident smile that made her feel better about bringing it up. "Guess de femmes be attracted to my natural charm."

"You ever use it on me? The persuading part I mean…"

Pressing his lips together he regretfully nodded. "Once."

Humming she thought about it and didn't like hearing that. When was it?

"Don't like usin' it much unless I have to." He quietly said.

She saw his gaze briefly flicker to her before returning to the road. Shaking her head she couldn't help her curiosity from piquing. It seemed like the more questions she asked him the more fascinated she became. "Remy…"

Fidgeting in his seat he tried not to let the way his name rolled off her sweet honey toned tongue have the effect it did. So instead, he forced himself to only concentrate on the road ahead, least he wanted them to crash. "Dis is de second time since I came here dat I've had de pleasure of hearin' you call me dat Chere." He gave her a small playful wink that hard her briefly looking away. "You tryin' to make me blush?"

"Ah highly doubt that's possible with the way your mind works."

"Now you're a mind reader too?" He impressively laughed. "Always seem to surprise dis one dat's fo' sure."

"Ah know lots of things." She folded her arms over her chest as he raised a brow. "Like the fact that we're lost."

"We ain't lost Chere, we're just-" The moment he saw her pointedly waving her phone around made him instantly snap his mouth shut. "What's it say?"

"That we should gas up thanks to your little detour." She rolled her eyes as she began looking for the next exit to take.

"You know now dat we've mentioned it, what is your mutation?"

Snapping her eyes downward she was well aware of his questioning gaze and found it unsettling anytime his attention was on her. She was hoping this wouldn't come up and just as before would've thought someone had told him by now, so she wouldn't have to face the same pitiful stare she always received when the conversation of her powers came up, followed by the incessant need to make sure to keep a safe distance from the girl who could drain you with one touch.

Instinctively she began playing with her gloves the way she always did when she was nervous, which made his eyes follow her line of sight before he refocused his eyes on the road, sensing that this was a sensitive topic for her.

"Chere you don't have to…"

"No, it's fine." She quickly reassured tugging on her gloves to make sure she was still covered just in case. "Doesn't matter anyways…took the cure. End of story."

"Cure?"

Upon remembering that he may not have heard of it given that he wasn't from this time, she began to explain about some of what had happened back in Alcatraz Island and Worthington Labs. "Which is when Warren decided to join us." she finished telling him.

Nodding he silently thought about what she had said. "T'ink I read somethin' 'bout dat. Hell of a time to be a mutant I'll tell ya." He shook his head at the thought of a cure. Back in his day no one had even talked about the possibility of ever achieving something like this. But then again no one knew of the secrets someone like Stryker or Essex had going on. Everyone always minded their own business, never caring about what happened to some of the missing people…mutants that had gone missing. And people definitely didn't talk about a 'Cure' which even just the name felt like an insult to him.

Sure, he was never one to be proud of his mutation when it came to his eyes, he could only imagine the ones who couldn't hide theirs as easily as he could. Let alone try and blend in with the crowd. But regardless…he could only imagine what people had to go through to find this cure.

Or why someone like Rogue would take it in the first place.

"Ya'll not gonna ask me why Ah took it?" she curiously asked watching the way he remained deep in thought.

"Not my place to ask." He answered. "We all have our reasons for doin' de things we do Chere." His gaze briefly flitted between her and the road before settling on the latter. "An' for de things we don't."

Was she grateful he didn't try to push to know more? Yes, and she was ashamed to admit this but even just the thought about why she took the cure still made her avert her eyes in shame.

She wanted to touch people. Be like everyone else and have a normal life. A life where she didn't need to be afraid of getting close to someone in fear of possibly killing them.

But the life she had hoped for now only seemed so distant…and now all that was left was a traitor to her own kind as some people would see it…and soon to be isolated once again.

'…you can't avoid me forever…' Wincing she momentarily closed her eyes willing her headache to go away.

"How long?"

"Hmm?"

"How long have you been havin' headaches?" He asked and she was startled that he'd even noticed this whole time when no one else had.

"It's not a big deal." She dismissively said as she shook her head before lying. "Just this morning."

"Dat an after effect? Of the cure?"

"No, it's just a headache."

Keeping his eyes forward he could tell she wasn't being completely truthful in the matter but that didn't stop him from adding. "Might wanna let de doc know once we back to de school."

"Whatever." Nervously smiling she desperately tried to find something else to talk about that didn't involve being constantly reminded of her miserable fate, and the ongoing headaches that made her feel like her head was about to explode. So as much as she hated herself for asking this as her eyes landed on the napkin from the diner. "So, you gonna call her?"

'Great conversation started Rogue.' She thought as she inwardly groaned.

Understanding the need for a change Remy only shot her a brief glance before looking at the road. "Who might dat be?"

"Your waitress of course." She scowled as she stared out the window. "Or is it the cop?"

"I might, I might not." He shrugged never really having given it much thought since he wasn't planning on it. But the ongoing reaction he seemed to be getting out of the girl currently sitting next to him made it hard not to want to smile.

"Are you kiddin' me?" She scoffed. Something about the way he just so casually brushed it off when she saw that girl practically throwing herself at him rubbed her the wrong way. But what else was she expecting from the guy who seemed to jump from girl to girl without a second thought. "So, what is your type Gambit?"

Raising his brows in surprise and aware of the use of his code name made him understand that she wasn't overly happy about that response. "My type?"

"And what about Kitty?"

Now that was unexpected. Furrowing his brows he gave her a sidelong glance. "Kitty?" he wanted to clarify that this was the same Katherine Pryde they both knew. Why on earth would she ask about her?

"Just…heard some stuff." Now it was her turn to shrug as the small blush threatened to appear as he kept staring at her like she had grown an extra head. The thought of interrupting whatever they were doing in the computer lab still replayed in her head despite her not wanting to think about it. If something was going on between them then that was their business. "You know what? Forget it." She dismissively waved her hand.

Half chuckling he decided to answer her question anyways. "Amis is all. Nothin' more."

"Whatever. Ah don't think you're her type anyways." She accidentally snapped back, feeling some of that pend up frustration she had at the fact that maybe Kitty's type was more along the lines of certain ice mutations.

"Oh no?" he chuckled taking amusement in the fact she was so easy to rile up. "T'ink I'm everyone's type."

"Yeah, well think again Swamp Rat." She proudly huffed as she crossed her arms over her chest. "Besides, Ah don't think you'd be a good fit for Kitty anyways."

"Oh yeah? Got anyone else in mind I'd be a good fit for?" he took a brief break from watching the road to see her instantly turn to the window. "What's your type?"

"What's yours?" she fired back from her earlier question before.

"Don't really have one." He admitted. "Willin' to give any fille a try, dat's how gracious I am."

"Ah bet." She rolled her eyes and when she met his gaze again, she was startled to see him still waiting for her answer. "Don't worry Cajun you ain't my type either."

"I'm not your type?" he gave a loud insulted laugh at her blatant lie. But nonetheless he did mask his vague disappointment well. "Let me guess…you'd settle for de heroic, trustworthy, self-righteous, everybody's good friend, boy next door type of good guy."

"And you'd settle with anythin' that has a pulse." She snapped back meeting his gaze with one of her own.

She wasn't going to do it. She promised herself over and over again that she wouldn't do it. No matter how much that questioned begged to be let out of her mouth she wouldn't do it. No matter how much he infuriated her she wouldn't-oh screw it. "Like you and Miss Frost." At his stunt silence she decided she might as well get it out of her system since she couldn't stop now.

Remy on the other hand was having a hard time trying to keep his eyes on the road instead of constantly staring at her surprising questions. Did she just have them lined up just waiting to ask them?

Sure, he made no secret that he found the new teacher quite attractive just like more than half of the male population in the mansion, which made him wonder if she even asked Bobby the same thing since she still seemed to harbor some kind of hostile feelings towards it.

"You and Miss Frost seem to be friendly…" he saw her nervously fixing her gloves as she shot him a strained smile. "Saw you two pretty cozy."

Remy only knew too well about what she was referring to. He had known she had been there during Emma's visit to the garage but couldn't be for sure. The mixture of feelings pouring out of her then as well as right now were the same and he was beginning to have a hard time narrowing it down to just one.

"…it does seem like you're jealous." He smirked, not needing to confirm it by looking at her.

"She's teacher and Ah'm not jealous, Ah'm disgusted there's a difference." She stubbornly glared.

"Call it what you want, but I ain't necessarily sayin' it be a bad thing if you were." He playfully winked. "Kinda like you wantin' dis Cajun all to yourself."

She wasn't sure whether she was annoyed at the fact that he didn't even deny that there might be something between him and Emma or that he enjoyed keeping her guessing.

"You're an ass."

"Been told dat once or twice." he gave a secretive smile.

"And we should gas up."

"We be fine Chere." He chuckled as he shook his head. "'Side's we just gettin' to know each other."

"No thanks." She sweetly smiled. "Like Ah said before, Ah have no desire to get to know you."

"Well what do you have a desire fo'?" he raised a cocky brow. "Just cause you ain't wantin' to know 'bout me don't mean I can't learn a little somehin' bout my travel companion now ins't dat so?"

"And what makes you think Ah'll tell ya?" she intriguingly asked.

"Well, we do still have quite a drive. So unless you want to spend it all in silence-"

"That would work." She quickly cut in as the smile on his face only wavered.

As the minutes ticked by, he found himself stealing small glances her way ever so often until he couldn't take it anymore. "Alright how 'bout dis, you can ask me anythin' you want anythin' at all an' den I can ask you somethin' in return."

"And if Ah don't want to play."

"Don't have to." He honestly answered. "Just figured it would be proper co-pilot etiquette to keep de driver company is all. Unless of course you forget your good ole southern manners."

'This guy…' she thought as she saw his lips raise only slightly enough to already know her answer.

"So, you an' Bobby…?"

"What about me and Bobby?"

"Just curious…I mean I know what you said before, but I feel like dere's more den what you led on."

Her eyes shifted towards the floor of the car as she recalled what she had told him and why she had taken the cure.

"An' Logan?" he raised a questioning brow as she tried to hide her blush. "Don' take a genius to know you an' him be close." Which he thought was odd since Logan didn't strike him as the family kind…but then again, he never saw him living in a school full of kids either.

"That's kind of a long story…" she said clearly with no intention on explaining it to him.

"Hmm." Nodding he took a quick glance at her before readjusting his seating position and doing a double take when he saw her bashfully avoid staring at him. "You're sweet on him!"

"What-no I'm not!"

"Yeah." He chuckled keeping his eyes on the road. "You're sweet on Monsieur Wolf."

"It's not like that!" She was pretty sure her face was beet red at this point. "At least not anymore..."

"Really? Now correct me if I'm wrong her Chere..." He mockingly squinted his eyes. "But weren't you the fille who just told me Emma's a little out of my age range?"

"Remy-"

"An' I'm sure Logan is well beyond all dat." He laughed at the idea that she had the nerve to lecture him about what was right when she herself had something for the fierce Wolverine. "Hell, if I ain't mistaken he could be older den de good ole professor non?" he couldn't stop himself from laughing as he asked his next question. "You're not sweet on the Professor too, right?"

"Stop it!" She shouted when he leaned forward on the wheel to try and calm down his laughter. "Ah'm not!"

Why did Remy have to be so hot and infuriating?!

"Ah thought you were more mature than this." She frustratingly looked away in embarrassment. She should have never told him about Logan or hinted about her previous crush on the man.

"Oh, I'm mature. I'm very mature. As a matter of fact, I'm as mature as dey come Chere."

"Are ya done?"

"Alright fine." He wickedly laughed. "Dere's no need to get your panties in a twist."

"What Ah do with my parties is none of your business."She froze when she realized what she'd said while his smile slowly grew. At this point she couldn't hide the blush anymore even if she tried. Not to mention she currently didn't even have the luxury of wearing any given that they were still wet from the rain.

He decided that he'd be the bigger person and not humiliate her more than she probably already felt after her outburst. It would've been all too easy to tell her that he in fact really wanted to make it his business if she only let him. "I s'pose it's not. Although… I'm sure dat boyfriend of yours might have an opinion or two 'bout you goin' on a joy ride with me."

"Says the expert himself. Ah'm sure you know a lot about relationships."

"Never claimed to be."

"So what, you've never had a girlfriend?" she meant for it to sound mocking but when he decided to not answer she could only assume he was used to one night stands. Your typical love them and leave them kind of scenario. "You haven't, have you?"

"Dis one can't help but ask what it is your implyin'?" he entertainingly grinned knowing exactly what she probably thought of him by now. "Contrary to popular believe Chere I'm not some male whore. I do have my pride you know."

"Do you?" she sassed back.

"I do." Is all he offered.

"So what, you'll sleep with people and that's it?" she asked. She knew she was going a little bit more personal with her questions but anytime he answered, it made her want to get to know more. Wanting to know just what it would be like to live so carefree the way he did. The thought of not worrying about anything, having everything laid before him with the choice to do what you wanted was something she never thought she could have. Not with the way she was always shackled by her powers. Compared to him she always had to be cautious about everything she did.

He gave her a long look before clicking his tongue. "I do believe dat's two questions Chere."

"Fine, then don't answer."

"Dis really bothers you…?" he confusingly frowned not understanding why all of a sudden her mood seemed to shift. Surely she had experienced sex before or at least knew the joy and benefits of it especially if both parties were in an agreement of it strictly being just that. "I believe you don't understand de meanin' between intimacy an' sex."

"No, clearly you don't understand the distinction between love and sex."

Confidently shaking his head, he now understood why she was getting so worked up over by his admission. "Sex is one thing, but intimacy or love is another." he gave her a long, silent look until a thought suddenly occurred to him, only confirmed when he saw her begin to uncomfortably squirm in her seat. "Rogue you've you know…?"

"What?"

"You've had…?"

"What?"

"You've had sexual relations, right?" When he didn't get an immediate respond he carefully added with a small uptick of his lips. "-de sex?"

"Yes Ah know what you meant alright!"

"Ok just never seen someone so uptight when talkin' 'bout it."

"I'm not."

"Or defensive…" he playfully snickered.

"I'm not uptight." She said between clenched teeth. "Ah just don't see how this is any of your business."

"But you have, right?" he asked again. It wasn't that he really wanted to know what her and Bobby did behind closed doors but call him a fool to think that someone who looked as beautiful as she did with a fiery temper to match made him only curious to know if she was still in fact a virgin.

"That's personal." She muttered as she began fidgeting with her hands.

"Oh an' askin' me 'bout my adventurous escapades ain't?" he comically gaped.

"Fine ok. But Ah'm not uptight."

"Sure you are." He grinned her way. "Anytime I mention somethin' related to it you get dis weird look on your face an' you eye keeps twitchin'."

Crinkling her nose, she wasn't sure what he was referring to. "What? No Ah don't."

Leaning sideways he carefully eyed her. "Sex."

"Stop it!".

"You haven't, have you?" Tilting his head he found that to be rather surprising, but at the same time he couldn't deny his interest growing. Especially how she had made it clear that her and Bobby had been together for quite some time already and serious. So how was that possible? "Otherwise you wouldn't be so…."

"Ok fine maybe…maybe Ah'm not as experienced at you."

Or perhaps not, he frowned. "But you have had…?"

"Yes!" She lied. "Now can we please drop it?"

Clutching the wheel tighter he took a deep breath when he felt himself not liking that answer. Somehow that bit of information wasn't necessarily sitting well with him anymore and regretted asking in the first place. "Well in my defense…you were de one dat brought it up." When she still didn't say anything, only shooting him a warning glare he briefly turned back to the road. "Je suis desolé Chere."

His voice came out calm and collective as he returned his full attention on the road ahead of them.

"Didn't mean to trespass on whatever it is you an' yours do."

"Good." She huffed as she crossed her arms over her chest and focused her own eyes on the road hoping this topic would never come up again. Lord knows she wouldn't be able to face Bobby if he ever found out she was talking about their love life with him. "Ah'm glad we agree."

"Regardless of de obvious fact dat Ice boy might not be doin' such a good job as one might t'ink."

Well so much for keeping quiet.

"Now is that not talkin' about it again?" she disbelieving glared at the guy next to her as she sat up in her seat. "And has it ever occurred to you that it could be quite the opposite? And maybe Ah just wouldn't want your huge ego to take a hit at the knowledge that perhaps Bobby is way more than he lets on? Possibly even more than you?"

By the way Remy's head snapped back in her direction she could tell he hadn't expected her to say that as his grip on the wheel only tightened as his knuckles turend white right before he chuckled to himself and irritatingly looked away.

'Round two for Rogue.' She proudly smiled to herself. 'Let that be a lesson to stick his nose where it doesn't belong.'

She was able to successfully dodge any more questions on the topic while conveniently leaving out the part that she in fact never did have sex. Not with Bobby or anyone for that matter and was seriously considering a nunnery at this point, if that was still a thing since her and Bobby barely even cuddled anymore.

Was that still a thing? Maybe she should look it up later since if her mutation was indeed coming back, she might as well look into a future career as one. Or perhaps a hermit.

Her eyes stung at the thought, and she was pretty sure that at this point Remy probably thought she was some kind of nutcase with the brief confused flick of his eyes.

Oh my god was she destined to be a cereal inhaling, life sucking hermit nun whose only purpose in life was to live in the woods with the animals and trees as her best friends? And anytime any visitors came into the abandon and haunted woods she would scare them away at the prospect of stuffing them with cookies only someone like Kitty would love to eat?

Oh my gawd…

Remy on the other hand was having a hard time getting a read on what the hell was going through Rogues mind right now. Not really sure if he wanted to since her expression turned from anger, to frustration, to sadness, anger again and then despair before finally settling on acceptance.

'Que diable…?' he confusingly frowned.

"So how come?"

"How come what?"

"Well, you asked me about Bobby." She reminded him once she managed to calm herself down long enough to ask. "But you really don't date?"

"Ahh." Understanding what she meant he lightly tapped his thump against the wheel. "Never said dat. Just don't see the need for it."

"Why?"

"Dere are many pleasures in life Chere." He casually shrugged as he carefully eyed a sign they passed by. "Too many to just settle on one."

"So you really never had a girlfriend?" She saw him give her a sidelong glance before looking away. "Sorry, you don't have to answer."

He regarded her for a minute before he glanced back at the road. Everything on the road seemed to blend together by this point so it made talking help pass the time. "I did. Once."

"So, what happened?"

"Nothin' much to tell. Met when we were kids…wasn't de settlin' down type an' she knew it too." He stared straight ahead, and she could tell he tried not to look at her. But she did catch the hard edge to his voice.

As she opened her mouth to respond she was surprised when he quickly cut her off, almost like his walls suddenly shot up just as his expression too changed. "Despite what you may t'ink… my views on dat subject won't change. Are not changin' an' will not change Rogue."

He removes his eyes off the road for a second to stare at her at the same time she looks away.

Usually the thought of settling down always came attached with a vision of the guilds, Bella Donna, responsibilities and the shackles that all wrapped around him. Suffocating…everlasting unhappiness that he couldn't get out of. That's what he always envisioned when that thought came up. But now when he said it out loud…when he said it to Rogue, it made him which he hadn't.

But it was the truth. He hadn't told anyone about everything that happened back in his time, and for good reasons. If anyone here…the X-men…or even Rogue found out. Then he could kiss any chances of going back home goodbye. There was no way they would help him if they knew. There was no way she'd understand nor would ever understand the life he lived. The monsters that still followed him and the reason for wanting to leave.

No. It was better to keep thinking the way he always had. The way thieves did.

She wanted to apologize since clearly this wasn't something he wanted to talk about. "Remy..."

With a forced smile he tilted his head. "How about we make dis a quiet trip, hein?"

"So you don't want me to talk now?"

"See now dat would work." He grinned letting his eyes look at her as he tapped his hands on the wheel. Based on the angry look on her face he knew he would hear about it later, but right now he wasn't in the best of moods to talk about anything relating to his old life or the fact that he was still tired because she decided to wake him up in the worst way possible!

"We're going to be out of gas."

"No were not."

They continued to drive in angry silence until she decided to break it again. "You know-"

"No."

"But you-"

"No."

"It was-"

"No."

Narrowing her eyes she defiantly raised her chin. "Ah have to use the bathroom." She saw his jaw tick a second before the car began to slow. "…and we're out of gas."

Cursing under his breath he allowed the car to roll to the side before it finally gave out.

"Ah told you this would happen." She quietly exhaled as he shot her a sour look.

"Thought we weren't talkin'…" Frustratingly leaning his head back he was only able to bitterly smile to himself as the word lazily tumbled out of his mouth. "An' you just said six words Chere. Six!"

"Look if we-"

Before she could say anything else he was unlocking his door and jumping out of the car before frustratingly slamming the door shut after him. By the time she did the same she saw him muttering to himself and running his hands through his hair.

"You should've listened to me!"

"Fourteen!" he angrily glared back as he pointedly raised his hands. "Dats fourteen too many!"

"Hey Ah wasn't…" dropping her mouth open as he made it a point to keep raising another finger after every word, her own anger started boiling to the surface. "It's not my…" Watching with narrowed eyes the way his own gleamed back at her had her scoff when his next finger slightly raised as if challenging her to say something else. Anything else. "…Jerk."

That seemed to do it when he only shot her a murderous look of his own before turning to leave.

"Hey don't get snappy with me Swamp boy just because your huge ego won't allow you to admit Ah was right." She pointed a stern finger in his direction. She watched him tilt his head as he clenched his jaw and never in her life had she ever seen someone look that hot while staring at her like he wanted to…kill her?

"Swamp boy am I?" he mischievously smiled right as he began walking off. "An' by de way dat's forty-two words!"

Growling there was no way she was going to stay quiet when he was clearly in the wrong and leaving. "Where are you goin'?"

"What's it look like Chere. You've done it 'fore I would expect you to know when someone's leavin'." He spoke over his shoulder as he turned backwards.

"Just say Ah was right!"

"I would but den we'd both be wrong."

"You…" Rolling her eyes she tried to be as calm as possible. "Look Ah'm sorry about what Ah said back there. Even though Ah was right about the gas…Ahm' still sorry."

"Dis your first apology?" he chuckled as he returned walking forward.

"We're gettin' gas right?" she cautiously asked trying to match his long strides.

"Do you have any idea how long it is to de nearest station?!" He dramatically stared at her like she had lost her damn mind.

"Well maybe if we gassed up before we wouldn't be in this mess now would we?"

"Remind me again why I allowed you to come." He lowly muttered as he turned to leave again.

"Excuse me? Allowed me to come?" she furiously huffed.

"Yes allowed. As in I let you." he gave her a sideways glance wondering if she was going to scratch his eyes out any minute with the way she was glaring at him. "Hey Rogue no one told you you had tag along, now did I?" When he saw her stubbornly sticking to her resolve to get gas he gave another frustrated kick in the dirt before nodding. "Fine, guess we be walkin' again."

"Good." She smugly said as she made to walk past him.

"Thought I told you not to talk!" He grinned when he saw her briefly stop before stomping off.

-X-

Professor Charles Xavier steepled his fingers thoughtfully as he listened in and smiled at his students for the last class of the day. He enjoyed teaching as well as listening in on the various opinions of others before the sudden voices in his head began to surround him again.

'Professor Charles Xavier…we need her.'

'Professor…Professor…'

"Charles…'

'Professor!'

Clutching his eyes shut he tried to zone into that voice that's been haunting him for so long until it threatened to overtake him. "Class dismissed."

"Professor?" Jubilee questioned as she exchanged worried looks with Piotr while the students hesitantly began to leave.

"You heard him." Emma Frost stepped into the classroom as the students began filing out one by one. "Class dismissed." She repeated as she curiously wandered inside, watching as the older man remained focused on something outside.

'Professor…Professor please…help me.'

Closing his eyes he frowned when another voice suddenly silenced all the others. A telepathic voice that he had long wished to hear again. A voice he thought long gone.

'Help me!'

"It can't be…" he whispered as he turned to see Emma slumped down on the ground grabbing her own head in pain.

'I need…'

Emma tried to get to her feet as the man remained starring back at her with wide eyes. "Charles…" She panted as the voice suddenly subsided. Was that…was that…?" Upon meeting Professor Xavier's unsure eyes she tried again. "Professor was that…?"

"Jean…"
