The Taste of Emotion
"If you were an emotion, what would you taste like?"
Love, I think… Is that an answer that makes sense, Tsukasa?
I'm always watching you.
After his groping incident with Mitsuba, I became more paranoid about leaving Tsukasa alone.
I took a step back, hiding behind the bushes as I watched Tsukasa rummage through his bookbag. He's got into the habit of digging into the wrong book bag by 'accident.'
So far, Tsukasa's brought home teddy bears, lip gloss, action figures, manga and a skull pin. I took a sigh of relief as he put his bag on, it looks like he doesn't plan on stealing anything today.
I almost felt bad, I didn't want to spy on him like some kind of criminal but… He didn't give me a choice, because if I look away, even for a second; Tsukasa might-
"Excuse me,"
I jumped up in shock as I turned around. "You're blocking the exit," the girl added in a kind voice.
I exhaled in shock, taking a step back as I grabbed my chest, "Ah- Oh, sorry, I didn't mean to sneak up on you. What are you doing Tsukasa?" She asked curiously.
Amane: "Um… No, I'm actually Amane,"
Yashiro: "Oh, I'm so sorry! I bet it's super annoying when people get you two mixed up."
Amane: *Scratches head* "No! Really- it's ok; we're pretty hard to tell apart besides our personalities."
Yashiro: "Right, I think Tsukasa has a sharp tooth that sticks out too,"
Amane: *Laughs* "Yeah, he does. I guess that's one way to tell us apart."
The cream haired girl lifted her hand out to me, "My name is Leora, Leora Yashiro," she smiled. Yashiro's cute. Really cute. I looked down shyly, wait- was I actually talking to a girl?!
As we shook hands, I couldn't help but notice her oversized legs and curved thighs. Did I stare for too long? Leora gasped in discomfort, realizing my awkward gaze before laughing in embarrassment.
Yashiro: "Hahaha! They're huge right? Big legs run in my family,"
Amane: "Oh, s-sorry, I didn't mean to stare…"
Yashiro: "It's ok, they're kinda hard to miss. Any bigger and they'd look like daikon's! Hopefully I don't pass on my legs when I grow up and have kids.!"
Amane: *Laughs* "That's kinda funny,"
Leora held the straps of her book bag, "Well, I have to go home now. But I'll see you around, Amane," She smiled. I blushed as she walked past me, "Y-Yeah, see you around Yashiro," I stuttered awkwardly as she walked away.
I smiled scratching my face, when's the last time I talked to anyone else besides my brother? It felt nice, not having to worry about him and enjoy a normal conversation. Tsukasa.
Wait! That's what I was doing! I ran outside. He's gone. "Tsukasa!" I yelled.
I began to run around the school, searching for my missing twin as my chest filled with anxiety and panic.
Less than 2 minutes, that's all it took to lose him.
I'm scared.
Tsukasa was nowhere, not inside the school, or outside of it. Did he go home? He's never left without me before; we've always been so close together: we've never been this far apart.
"Tsukasa!" I cried once more, running in circles around the neighborhood. My head was spinning- it wasn't just the fear of him hurting someone- but of someone else hurting him. Tsukasa was so gullible, and trusting and absent minded in the face of danger- he's definitely the type to jump in a strangers van at the offer of candy.
I ran past the gates of the school. What if he really did get kidnapped? What if I never ever got to see him again?! I panted in anxiety as the terrifying thought made me cry uncontrollably, my tears flowing so heavy it was almost too difficult to see.
"Come back cat, why are you running!" Tsukasa yelled. There! He's there! "I'm gonna' catch you, come here, come here!" Tsukasa shouted, chasing a small, calico kitten. "Tsukasa!" I yelled as my twin darted across the street directly behind the kitten. My twin was so focused on the feline that he didn't hear me or the sound of a truck speeding toward him.
"Tsukasa!" I yelled, pulling him by the arm; the truck only missed him by inches. "Haaaa," Tsukasa exhaled watching the kitten being crushed by the truck flying by. He was in awe of the trail of organs the vehicle left behind- that was almost my Tsukasa. The thought of him being killed that way was too much to bear; I was so relieved to catch him in time. "Tsukasa!" I cried.
Wrapping my arms around the surprised twin as he stumbled over, nearly losing his footing. He almost got killed. "Aw, Amane?" He asked in confusion.
My body moved instinctively; my face falling into his. I almost lost the only person I've ever loved. His eyes opened wide as mine closed, without thinking- I kissed him.
The anxiety of searching for him, the horrible dread of almost losing him: had melted into a warm, gentle kiss. This felt good.
My fingers squeezed his arms tighter as I pulled further into me. This turned me on. The smooth moistness of his lips pressed against mine and warmth of his breath on my skin. If I was an emotion, what would I be?
Love. That's my answer, Tsukasa.
