Happy Valentine's Day everybody! (Will probably be over by the time most of you read this) in the spirit of the Holiday I thought about two or three chapters based around my favorite couples including Ichabod and Marzipan but the more I thought about and realized stories like Gryphons Come Home to Roost are action/adventure stories with character romance drama on the side this story is primarily a love story with adventure on the side so better to add to this one and if I do add another chapter tonight it will probably to be either of my Rage Against the Bot Farms stories as this problem has really irked me as of late
Finally Dana could stand it no longer...As a Female Mutant Animal she felt she had to do something!
"Joe…" Dana said gently laying her large black furred hand on Glass Joe's forearm "Let...Let me talk to Bimbette tomorrow! I feel I need to discuss things with her Mutant Woman to Mutant Woman you know? You can talk to Little Mac."
And Joe believed this to be a very wise idea "D'accord…" He said with a nod
Then returning to the phone conversation he said "Dana wishes to speak with Bimbette alone tomorrow in the mean time I will come over and discuss things with you and Doc Louis in the meantime try to get some rest S'il vous plait"
The next day
Dana came over to meet Bimbette to ask her about what happened last night...And Bimbette basically confirmed what Little Mac said didn't say anything else happened other than he stole a kiss and she promptly ran away out of anxiety….
As they walked under a beautiful weeping willow tree in Forest, Dana sought to as delicately as she could pry to see what might be the source of Bimbette's fear without coming across too nosy.
"I understand…" The Mutant Doberman said gently "...It can be quite a shock when someone who had previously been just a friend suddenly springs this on you particularly in the way he did…"
Bimbette sighed feeling this Mutant Dog was like the big sister she never had making her feel more at ease.
"The truth is…" The Mutant Doe said as she wiped away a tear "...I feel the same way...I'm just as smitten with Little Mac...But that's the thing! I'm a Deer! He's a Human! We're different species! I don't know if this is normal...What this could possibly mean...Was it because I was raised by humans…"
Then Bimbette stopped and saw the look on Dana's voice the Doberman was giving her the side-eye but in a way that seemed nervous like now it was Dana who had something to hide!
"What?" Bimbette asked suddenly a lot more calm "Why are you looking at me like that?"
And Dana knowing now what to look for because of the vision of her own past she was granted now could recognize Mutant Animals who were reincarnated Humanimal souls how they have the same sparkling jewel-like eyes as the Humanimals and knowing now because of her examinations by the First World doctors that it was probably because of her Humanimal soul that she also had the ability to interbreed with humans that Humanimals had, most other mutants likely didn't have this ability and could only breed with Mutants of their own blood...Dana wanted to tell Bimbette of this to warn her of the possibilities but she remembered her promise to Joe she would keep this secret on a 'need-to-know-basis' and she couldn't be sure if Bimbette was a case where she could tell, as Dana knew well from the stories she was told as a Pup 'Tell a friend and the whole world knows'
"You know something I don't?" Bimbette asked folding her arms "I am psychic you know…"
"So am I…" Dana said folding her arms in return "...I know there are many kinds of psionic abilities a Mutant Animal might have, is reading minds one of them?"
Having her bluff called Bimbette sighed "No…" She thought about her past "...When I developed my ability to disguise myself as a human I thought I had the power to will myself into any power I wished because my Master hoped the serum would 'unlock the full potential of the mind' but other than being able to heal and disguise myself with a psychic illusion I haven't developed any other powers maybe there was a time limit...Like I could develop any power when I set my mind to when I was younger but now that I'm all grown-up things have basically settled…"
While that was some very interesting information about her past, Dana realized she had to tell Bimbette this which was as much as she was able to without mentioning anything about previous lives.
"Bimbette…" Dana said pointing to her swollen belly "...You see this? Have you really stopped and thought about it? I am the first Mutant Animal to marry a human and I'm carrying his child! This wasn't supposed to happen! The scientists who created me never intended us to be able to interbreed with humans but there were clearly some things they didn't take into account! I want you to think very carefully about this before you make any decisions."
And that was when it hit Bimbette the possibility of interbreeding! Once again she dropped to all fours and bounded away!
Dana did not intend to cause a panic attack! She felt the blood drain away from her face...She feared she had made things worse when she was trying to help!
