Chapter 1: Royal Mercy
"Did we really have to come here?" Charlie Morningstar asked her boyfriend, Seviathan von Eldritch.
They were in the Wrath Ring's Rabbit Foot Combat Arena, which was hosting a large tournament that day.
Seviathan just smiled, leading her by the hand.
"Yes, I've wanted to see this for a while, and want to share it with you, babe." Seviathan explained.
Seviathan was a tall and slim demon with dark, bluish-gray skin, and dark green slicked-back short hair with lighter-colored roots. He also has thick black brows, eyes with red sclera, neon-green irises, slit pupils and upper-eyelids colored in a darker shade of his skin, and a wide mouth full of sharp, neon-green colored teeth inside.
Currently, Seviathan was dressed in a green, monster-like top hat with a brighter-colored band, sharp teeth and several eyes. He wore a matching coat with neon-colored trimmings and darker lapels, under it is a neon-green ascot and untucked dress-shirt, ombre-green pinstriped dress pants and light green heeled dress shoes with darker toes and tips of the heels.
Charlie, meanwhile, wore a pink-red dress with some frills at the skirt and a feathery design around it.
"I'm just… not really into all this." Charlie admitted.
She wasn't a big fan of mindless violence, so the fact her boyfriend chose this as their date didn't sit well with her.
"I know, I know, but… let's try to have some fun." Seviathan calmly said as they found their seats, which was close to the ring, due to the young von Eldritch purchasing the tickets.
Charlie sighed, giving into his wishes.
The two watched several rounds of brutal fights and killings, none of it making Charlie happy.
"… alright everyone, we have another great bout before we get to the semi-finals." The announcer declared, hyping the crowd up. "To my right, we have Bone-Saw M'graw…"
A jacked imp with a large beard, his clothing having a saw motif, and holding a large saw-sword, flexed his muscles, the crowd cheering his name.
"And to my left, we have our runner up, the Orange Maelstrom!"
This fighter… was MUCH shorter than Bone-Saw.
He wore a tattered poncho, which was heavily stained in blood, dirt, and sweat and tattered shorts. His face, however, was covered in an orange mask that had a spiral design with one eye hole.
He was clearly a hound of some sort, from his tail, ears, and digitigrade legs. His fur color was not clear due to how dirty and coated it was, mostly dirt, blood, and sweat… and possibly something else.
He held a large, partially rusted/chipped broadsword, 250 centimeters in length that was shaped like a butcher knife. The blade itself has two cut outs, a circle close to the top and a semi-circular one nearer to the handle, the former of which is aptly fitting the sword's purpose of decapitation. Its handle was very long as a small hand gripped it... allowing it to be dragged across the dirt as the two fighters approached each other.
"Bone-Saw, Maelstrom," The announcer said, looking from one to the other. "You ready?"
"BONE-SAW IS READY!" Bone-Saw bellowed into the mic as it was offered.
Orange Maelstrom nodded, visibly swaying.
'Something isn't right…' Charlie thought, her focus snapping onto the smaller fighter.
She didn't know why, but her gut was telling her something was very wrong.
Seviathan, meanwhile, caught Charlie's intense stare and thought she was getting into it.
"Three…"
Bone-Saw and Orange Maelstrom entered fighting stances… the smaller fighter struggling slightly to hold up his weapon.
"Two…"
Charlie's concern steadily grew worse.
"One…"
The announcer threw down his hand.
"START!"
Bone-Saw charged, drawing his saw blade from his back, and bringing it down upon the Orange Maelstrom.
Said fighter raised his blade, blocking it, but his blade broke, sending a majority of the blade flying, straight into the crowd killing four people, leaving roughly the semi-circle portion of the blade intact.
Bone-saw then kicked Maelstrom, sending him back, wobbling before taking a knee.
The crowd was mixed.
If the fight ended too quickly, it would be a waste of time.
Especially due to it being a tournament.
"And the Orange Maelstrom gets back up from Bone-Saw's vicious attack, losing a chunk of his blade in the process, can he gain control of this fight?" the announcer asked the crowd as Bone-Saw confidently allowed Orange Maelstrom to stand.
"COME ON, MAELSTROM, SHOW THAT DUMBASS WHAT YOU CAN DO!" Charlie heard someone shout.
Standing with a slight sway, Maelstrom held his sword in both hands, not deterred by the damage it had suffered.
"Still want more, brat?" Bone-Saw asked. "You can barely sta…"
Maelstrom ran forward, making Bone-Saw put his guard up… only for the smaller fighter to jump, get eye level, and throw dirt in Bone-Saw's eyes.
"YOU BASTARD!"
Maelstrom didn't hesitate when he landed on the ground.
He pivoted, swinging as hard as he could, slipping slightly.
His damaged sword cut into Bone-Saw's chest, cutting through his flesh and muscle with ease, but something shocked Charlie and earned many cheers from the crowd and Seviathan.
The blade, now coated in blood, began to reform itself slightly as the blood was soaked into the metal, the metal looking brand new… and now heavier once again, shown when Maelstrom struggled to keep it raised.
Bone-Saw's fist landed into Maelstrom's face, breaking his mask as he went flying, dropping his sword.
Charlie's eyes widened.
Orange Maelstrom was a fox demon child.
He was dazed, eyes blinking open and closed several times in quick succession before snapping into focus.
Bone-Saw was above him, intending to break him with a stop.
Maelstrom's tail pushed him out of the way, a foot crater now where he was just was.
"And the fighters aren't giving up…"
"ENOUGH!"
This shout silenced the crowd as a plume of fire erupted between Bone-Saw and Orange Maelstrom.
Charlie emerged from the flame, her anger allowing her horns to emerge.
"Who are you?" Bone-Saw demanded.
"I am Charlie Morningstar, Princess of Hell!"
The crowd murmured.
Rage was written all over her face, something the citizens of Hell never saw.
"This ends now!" Charlie repeated.
"But… but princess…" The announcer tried to get out, but went silent, his asshole clenching tightly as she shot him a NASTY glare.
"You put a child in danger for entertainment?" Charlie asked, gesturing to Orange Maelstrom who looked at her from the ground. "You have no shame! This tournament is over, NOW!"
The announcer laughed in Charlie's face.
"Sorry, Princess, but this fight isn't over. The people wanna see Maelstrom fight Bone-Saw, and it is about money. If this fight doesn't happen, theres not gonna be any…"
The announcer went silent when a thick stack of money hit him in the face, thrown at him by Charlie.
"Take that, and a little extra…" Charlie stated, throwing another one. "Because I am buying this fighter from you, so Bone-Saw can continue in your 'Tournament'."
The announcer smirked and took the cash, pocketing it.
"Bone-Saw M'graw advances to the next round!" the declared, over half of the crowd cheering at the development while the rest boo'd.
Bone-Saw rolled his eyes and grunted, looking past Charlie at his opponent.
"You only live because of her mercy, brat." Bone-Saw spat on the child before leaving the arena, not willing to argue with Charlie, but willing to show his displeasure at the events.
Charlie flipped him off before visibly softening her expression when she turned to the child.
Who was still on the ground.
"Are you okay?" She asked softly, kneeling down to be eyelevel with him.
"Yes…" He wheezed. "Master…"
Charlie blushed, realizing that… she had just bought this child, making him her slave.
"What's your name?" Charlie asked him.
"…"
"…"
"… Naruto."
Hours Later…
Naruto, with his broken sword strapped to his back stood behind Charlie as she sat in a chair.
Before them was Lilith and Lucifer Morningstar, Charlie's Parents and the King and Queen of Hell.
"… so, he will work for me." Charlie explained to her parents.
"I don't know, dear." Lilith said calmly as she looked Naruto over with a critical eye.
He was roughly ten to twelve years old.
He was thin, clearly malnourished.
"I do believe you could do better." Lilith sighed, leaning into her hand.
"Mother, I do believe Naruto will be a good addition for my protection. I witness his abilities…"
"Charlie." Lucifer cut in as he looked at his beloved daughter.
"Yes, dad?"
"I say, we give him a trail run first. Obviously," Lucifer looked at the child, making Naruto go stiff. "We will give him time to recover."
Charlie smiled.
"Thank you." She said, standing up. "Come along, Naruto."
Naruto followed Charlie out, not liking the feeling of the King and Queen's eyes on his back.
Once outside, Naruto jumped when two small creatures got in his face.
They were identical little demons. They looked like cute little demon dragons with suits, only difference was the different shade of red on their fur and their pupils.
"The fuck?"
"Razzle, Dazzle, don't scare Naruto." Charlie said seeing how startled Naruto was. "He is going to be my bodyguard and butler starting today, so please, get along with him."
Razzle and Dazzle nodded and floated beside Naruto, looking at him.
Naruto looked back and forth, nervousness visible as he gripped his swords handle.
Smiling, Razzle perched on Naruto's shoulder, affectionately nuzzling the fox's face.
"Soft…" Naruto mumbled as he began to relax, Dazzle landing in his arms.
"Awe." Charlie said as she took a picture. "So cute."
"Master…"
"You don't need to call me that, Naruto." Charlie softly corrected. "You can just call me Charlie."
Naruto was confused.
"But… you're my master and the Princess…"
"I know, but I would like it if you just called me by my name." Charlie said as she motioned for him to follow her. "Come along, let's get you cleaned up and some new clothing. Also, lets get rid of this…"
"No!" Naruto yelled as Charlie tried to touch his sword. "I'm keeping his sword!"
Charlie was slightly surprised at the outburst, but not mad.
"Okay, okay… you can keep it…" She calmly replied, trying not to ruin their budding friendship so early.
Naruto calmed.
"Sorry… Zabuza's sword is… precious to me." Naruto explained in an apologetic tone.
"I am sorry for saying we should throw something so important out." Charlie apologized. "But, if it isn't to much, who is Zabuza?"
Naruto remained quiet as they neared the bathroom.
Charlie allowed Razzle and Dazzle to guide, clean, and groom Naruto while she patiently waited outside.
Naruto and the tiny dragons exited, wearing a bathrobe with his sword in his arms.
His once dirty fur was now a bright, shiny orange with a white underbelly, small amount of blonde between his ears.
His bandages around his eye had been changed.
"Oh, what happened?" Charlie asked.
"My last fight…" Naruto replied. "I got hit in the eye and it swelled pretty bad, its why I wore a mask today."
"Makes sense, now, let's get you into some nice clothing.
"Why are you being so nice to me?"
Charlie didn't expect this question.
"Everyone else at the coliseum were assholes… I'm a stranger to you, yet you bought me from them, bring me here, and are so nice?" Naruto asked with so much confusion. "Are you trying to lure me into a false mindset so you can rape me?"
Charlie choked on her spit.
"WHAT? Of course I am not!" She yelled, panicking that this child just asked that. "Did that happen to you while you were there?"
Naruto shook his head.
"Many threatened me with rape…" He replied. "But why are you so nice? You are the princess. Shouldn't you be a brat?"
Charlie sputtered, pushing Naruto in the direction of their tailor.
"No, I am a mature adult, and I am not attracted to children, now let's get you're clothing."
"What do you expect from me?"
"You'll learn as you go, but simply put," Charlie explained as they neared the tailor. "You'll protect me."
Chapter 1, DONE!
I had this idea, and felt like this would be fun to do Hazbin Hotel.
Yes, I am still going to cover Hazbin in Crying for the Moon, but this is going to be strictly Hazbin.
No Loona, No Verosika.
I want this story to stand or die on its own, not piggybacking off of Crying.
But, Naruto will have a girlfriend later on, you'll see who eventually.
I know, short chapter, but I just wanted to get 'How Charlie met Naruto' out of the way so I can focus on the other stuff more in the next chapter… if it does well enough.
If you enjoyed the chapter, leave a review, even if you hated it because it helps me become a better author.
