Harry guided his undead dragon toward the living dragon attacking the guilds. His dragon gripped its target by the neck, causing it to roar in pain and surprise. As the living, green dragon struggled, Harry ordered his undead dragon to let out a breath attack.
Harry's dragon's teeth began to spark, but lightning erupted as it bit down harder. The lightning zapped the trapped dragon, causing it to roar in agony but not thrash around. As the light show stopped, Harry's dragon let go, and the green dragon fell to the ground, paralyzed.
{That was easier than I expected,} said Fawkes, sounding disappointed.
Harry grinned nervously. {That's because we took it by surprise. I doubt it would have been that easy if we had attacked it head-on.} Fawkes rolled his eyes.
"Hey, Harry!" Harry perked up when he heard his name called. He looked down and saw his guildmates looking up at him in shock. The one who called him was Makarov, the only one to recover from the shocking sight of a skeletal dragon.
"Hey, Master!" Harry returned the call.
"What the heck did you do?!" Makarov demanded angrily, which Harry expected.
The black-haired wizard scratched the back of his head nervously. "I did a ritual that brought the dragons buried underground back to life…?" he said unsurely.
"Are you crazy?! Do you know how much property damage these undead dragons are causing?! Whatever they destroy will be coming out of our paycheck!" Harry wasn't expecting that to be Makarov's reason for calling him crazy, but the man had a point. Harry had a grim look on his face as he looked around at his other dragons. They were causing damage to the buildings, roads, and everything else in their way. The only thing they weren't destroying were humans. At least they were doing their jobs by attacking the living dragons.
"I'll…put them to rest again once the dragons are gone, and I'll fix the damage myself," Harry replied, but he wasn't sure if he would succeed. There was a lot of damage being done, more than he had ever fixed before with the repairing charm. He turned his green eyes back to his master and hesitated with his following words, "Whatever I don't fix, I'll pay for."
Makarov nodded approvingly, but then his eyes widened in fear. "Harry, behind you!" Harry snapped to attention; a dragon was diving toward him with its mouth gaping.
Harry didn't have time to use his undead dragon to block the attack, so he used his armor's magic instead. A shadow-like flame formed in Harry's hand. The dark fire felt as cold as ice, making him wonder what element the dragon he absorbed had.
{THAT'S NOT IMPORTANT RIGHT NOW!} Fawkes shouted, snapping Harry back to the task-at-hand. The Master of Death shot his black fireball at the dragon's mouth. The dragon choked and lost its balance, making it miss Harry and his undead dragon. Harry watched the dark-red dragon cough as ice formed in its mouth and throat.
'Is the fire some kind of ice magic?' Harry thought questioningly but paused as steam wisped out of the red dragon's mouth and nose. He knew he should attack again, but his curiosity got the better of him. The dragon melted the ice covering its mouth and throat. Once all the ice was going, the dragon snapped its head around and roared fire at Harry.
Harry's dragon dove forward, dodging most of the flames. The living and undead dragons flapped their wings and flew to the sky. Harry's dragon kept climbing until it was high enough to touch the clouds. It turned around and shot a lightning bolt at the dark-red dragon, but the enemy dragon dodged and shot a giant fireball at them.
Harry jumped from his dragon and stabbed the fireball with his sword, causing the ball to crack and shatter. Harry winched when he saw the small burning fragments crash on the ground and set fire to some homes.
{Worry about the damage later, Harry!} Fawkes ordered as he turned into his flame form. Harry knew what Fawkes was thinking and quickly stopped him.
"Fawkes, wait! That's a fire dragon - it will eat you!" he shouted urgently, causing Fawkes to freeze for a second, but he moved again when the dragon almost caught him in its jaws. Harry sighed in relief when Fawkes dodged the attack.
Harry called to his dragon, which caught him before he fell too low. The undead dragon covered its claws in lightning and stabbed each of them under the dark scales of the living dragon. The dark-red dragon cried out as it was shocked, but Harry ignored it in favor of sending his own attack. He coated his sword with ice fire and swung in an arc. A crescent-shaped black flame sliced through the air and cut the webbing of the wing of the fire dragon.
The dark-red dragon fell, no longer capable of flying. Harry was about to go after it but noticed a different dragon dropping something. He turned to see what was happening. The dragon future Rouge was standing on was dropping eggs.
{Isn't this an inappropriate time to be laying eggs?} asked Fawkes in confusion as he perched on Harry's shoulder again.
Harry agreed with his familiar, but these eggs didn't feel like there was life in them. {Maybe she's abandoning them?} he said unsurely.
{Maybe… She is dropping them from 50 meters above the ground, after all.} Harry and Fawkes watched on as the eggs landed without breaking. For a fleeting second, Harry thought about what the eggs were made of, but then cracks began to form.
'I guess they did break.'
{No, wait, look!} said Fawkes. {I see a head poking through.}
{There's no way. There is no life coming from those eggs.}
{Well, something is coming out of it!} Harry had his dragon lower, so he could see one of the eggs. As Fawkes said, something was coming out of the shell, but it looked mechanical. "What is that?" the dark-haired wizard asked nervously.
The creature came out. It looked more like a dinosaur than a dragon made of metal. It spotted Harry and tried to attack but couldn't reach him, so it shot a fireball instead.
The fireball hit Harry's undead dragon, breaking off the front left foot. Harry's eyes widened in surprise. It was unanticipated for something young to break an adult dragon bone.
The creature was about to attack again, but Harry froze it in its track and ordered his undead dragon to kill it with a lightning bolt. As the bolt hit its mark, the metal dragon shattered.
{Well, at least they're easy to kill,} said Fawkes.
{Yeah, help me kill these things,} said Harry, who felt Fawkes leave his shoulder and become fire.
The duo flew around for a minute, killing the mechanical creatures when they spotted them. It was within this minute that Harry felt lives being snuffed out. Fear entered his heart. The Master of Death quickly felt the life force of his friends but was horrified by his findings.
"I found the tools!" Ron called out to Hermione, who had been searching through a drawer filled with nuts and bolts. She turned around and congratulated her boyfriend.
"Alright, let's get these back to Zeref," she said, earning a nod from Ron.
The two left the storage room and entered the main hallway. The couple stopped when something outside that didn't seem right. Hermione looked out the window was gasped when she saw dragon skeletons flying around.
"So…that's what Harry meant," said Ron, looking upon the scene with wide eyes.
"How did he do this, though?" asked Hermione. "Also, how are they flying? I don't see webbing on the wings, yet they're soaring."
Ron shrugged. "Magic?" he said like it was the answer to everything, which it might be, Hermione thought.
"Let's just-" she began to say but cut off when she turned to see five baby dragons surrounding her and Ron. Her eyes widened in horror, and her body froze as orange glows came from the mouths full of sharp teeth.
It felt like everything was moving in slow motion. The dragons attacked, but Hermione couldn't move; her body wouldn't listen. Then something pushed her down from behind. At first, she thought it was a fireball, but there was no pain. A scream was heard, and dread filled her blood - it sounded like Ron. Slowly, she turned to look behind her, only to see a chard body lying motionless on the tiled floor.
"Ron…?"
Harry clenched his teeth in rage when he felt Ron's life force fade. His body trembled, and his eyes glowed with power. Harry turned his glowing green eyes toward the man responsible for this mess.
Future Rouge was fighting Natsu, who made friends with the fire dragon he tried to eat. Usually, Harry would allow Natsu to keep his opponent, but right now, he was too angry to care. So, he turned his undead dragon around and flew toward the one killing all his friends.
In a blink of an eye, there was a shift in the air. Harry couldn't have been flying for more than ten seconds. He didn't know what it was but ignored it for now.
{How did you get over here so fast?!} Harry heard Fawkes cry in shock, making the wizard pause in his pursuit of blood. He turned to see Fawkes had fallen behind.
{Why are you all the way back there?} he asked.
Fawkes caught up and hovered next to him. {I was next to you one second, but then I blinked, and you were a mile ahead.}
Harry wondered how that happened but remembered the shift he felt before Fawkes was behind him. {Did you feel a change in the air by chance?} he asked.
{No.}
Harry was confused, but something was tickling his senses. He focused on the feeling and felt those who lost their lives had returned. He immediately looked for Ron's life force and found it. Only a minute had gone when the first person lost their life, but now they were all back. Harry was shocked by this. It was like he jumped through time.
The wizard shook his head to clear it of shock and turned to Fawkes. "Come on, we need to get to Ron," said Harry. Fawkes nodded his flaming head, and the two shot off toward the Eclipse Gate.
TBC
I bet none of you thought I would kill off Ron, even if it was just for a minute.
Harry: I can't believe you did that… D=
Voldy: I can. After Enjali let me torture someone, I realized she could do anything she put her mind to.
Enj/Dark: I had Ron dying and returning as part of my plans for his arc.
Natsu: That's dark…
Zeref: Did Ron annoy you?
Enj/Dark: I read a lot of fanfictions where Ron betrayed Harry for money. So, yes.
Harry: Sadly, those fanfictions are common. -_.-
Enj/Dark: Anyway, enough about that. Please review! ^-^
