9: Peace, War, Wisdom
Fresh off our finding our first rune stone Luna, Alice, and I turn west. Reaching the mausoleum wall we turn south. After a good walk, we approach the mausoleum's wall and turn east. After walking for a few minutes I spot the door leading out of the mausoleum on our right. So we turn south and exit the mausoleum.
After walking out into the not-so-fresh air of the graveyard we walk around collecting shrubs we see. This nets us 2 more Nightshade bringing us up to 10.
Deciding to try and find the next rune stone I glance at my map and decide to try the "Navincius Mausoleum". To start we head south until we have almost reached the fence surrounding the area of the "Madranus Mausoleum". Turning east we continue forward for about a dozen feet before turning south. Walking forward we stop when Luna spots a small gate on our left. Turning toward the gate we walk through it and onto the path.
We follow the path until we reach another fence. Turning east we walk along the fence until we reach a second gate leading inward. Turning north we enter the gate.
Heading north we walk until we reach the mausoleum wall. Turning east we search for the entrance. We continue walking east until Alice points to a dark opening on our left. Turning north I spot the same thing Alice did. We have found the entrance to the "Navincius Mausoleum". Hurrying forward we enter the mausoleum.
For some reason, this mausoleum looks even better than the last. Glancing at my map I notice a door up a set of stairs. Falling the map we head north for a few steps then turn west. Reaching the wall we turn north once again.
During this trip, we ran into a few new enemies. First had been the "Newborn Vampire". After that, we ran into a "Ghost". That 1 was a pain since we could only use magical attacks on it. Finally, we faced a "Giant Rat". It was after facing this last opponent that Luna leveled up to 10. She placed her attribute point into Intelligence, bringing it up to 19. For her skill points, she used her 2 points to increase the rank of "favor of the divine" to 2. When I asked her what that skill did she replied that it would allow us to dodge physical attacks better. It would also protect us from critical hits.
After finishing up with the new level we continued north. We stopped before reaching the wall when we spotted a staircase on our left.
We entered the staircase and after reaching the wall turned south. Reaching the wall we turn west for a few steps before turning north once again. I could see the door just ahead of us so we headed for it.
Entering the room we take a look around. Across from us stands another door with the word "War" written on it. In addition, there are 3 Ceremonial Urns and a coffin. Deciding to see what the Ceremonial Urns hold I turn toward the nearest 1. This first 1 contains a "Cracked Opal". Placing it in pack I turn toward the next urn. This urn contained a potion, along with a "Cracked Amethyst". I stored these items and turned toward the last urn. This last urn contained a basic shield ring. Not all that useful given where we are at the moment. That just leaves the coffin, turning in that direction I walk up to the coffin.
This coffin is different from all the others I've seen so far. For 1 thing it is sealed. For another, it has words written on it. Along with the word "Peace", and the picture of a dove, the number "8" is written in neeght script. I wonder what this is for?
After making a note of the number written on the coffin we head for the door to the next room.
This room is covered in murals that depict the bloody history of Farhaven. At least that is what Alice tells me when I express concern about all the paintings around the room. Unlike the last room which had urns, this room has 2 empty armor racks and 2 weapon racks that contain items. Just like the last room, however, a coffin stands in the room. Walking over to the weapon racks I find a "Rusty Iron Mace", a "Rusty Iron Warhammer", a "Fine Iron War Axe", and a "Warped Cudgel". Finally, I walk over to the coffin.
This coffin, just like the last 1, is sealed. On the lid, I find the word "War" next to a picture of a sword. Below both of these is the number 6.
I make a note of the number written here. Seriously what's with all the numbers in this place? We head for the next door.
Passing through the door we find ourselves on a landing. A staircase continues upward. After turning south we continue climbing the stairs. Upon reaching the wall we turn left and discover ourselves in front of another door. Shrugging to myself I lead the other girls through the door.
This room is a lot more peaceful than the War room. Just like the last 2 rooms chest-like containers are scattered around the room. However this time the containers are "Reliquaries". There is also a coffin sitting in the room which seems to have only 1 exit.
Deciding that standing around isn't doing us any good I start searching the Reliquaries for items. Emptying each Reliquary I find an "Initiate's Ring of Endurance", an "Apprentice Amulet", and a "Psychic's Amulet". Walking over to the coffin I examine it. Just like the last 2 coffins this 1 is sealed. Also just like the last 2 coffins, there is a word written and a picture drawn on the lid. This time the word is "Wisdom" and the picture is of a scroll. There is a number 4 written below both of these. I am getting quite tired of these numbers. What are they for?
Making a note of the number on the coffin I lead my group to the exit, down the stairs, through the "War" room, down more stairs, through the "Peace" room, and finally down to the main floor of the crypt.
After exploring the mausoleum for a bit more we find a locked door. The door contains 5 dials. The top 1 has a picture of an apple. The second dial has a picture of a duck. The third dial has a picture of a dove. The fourth dial has a picture of a sword. The final dial has a picture of a scroll.
"I wonder if this is what those numbers on the coffins are for. I think to myself. Thinking back I remember seeing a tombstone in the apple orchard with a number on it. "Now what was it? Was it 3? No that wasn't it. Was it 9? No that wasn't it either. Oh, now I remember the number on the tombstone was 5."
Deciding to put it to the test I reach up to the dial with a picture of an apple, and set it to 5. Remembering the number on the coffin with the picture of a dove I set the dial with the same picture to 8. Thinking back to the coffin with a picture of a sword I reach up to the fourth dial and set it to 6. Remembering the coffin in the dead-end room I reach up to the lowest dial and set it to 4.
Even after setting these dials, the door doesn't open. I soon spot why. There is 1 more dial. This 1 has a picture of a duck, but I found no coffin or tombstone with a picture of a duck all this time. However, since it is the only dial I don't know the number for I can just try setting it to a different number until it works. I start by setting the dial to 1. That doesn't work so I try 2. No luck with that so I try 3. Nope, so I try 4. Not that either so I try 5. No luck there so I try 6. Still nothing so I try 7. Still nothing so I try 8. That's not it so I try 9. Still not it so I try 10. That doesn't work and there are only 2 numbers left so I try 11. When that doesn't work I set the dial to 12 and finally the door unlocks and opens.
Walking past the door we spot the second rune stone. Walking up to it we watch as Luna casts her incantations over the rune stone powering it down. Once she is done we need to decide where to look next. I think it is time to see what is in those catacombs.

An: and that's the end of this 1. The group has found 2 of the rune stones powering the barrier, and have shut them down. This leaves just 1 rune stone to find, but they're going to need to search the catacombs to find the entrance to the last 1.
