CHAPTER 268
The pair of carnotaurs came through the hole in the wall as a couple of brawling monsters. They both tried to push through at once making no preemptive efforts to pay mind to the people in the office.
Daniel crouched in preparation for whatever was going to happen next. He watched as Hellfire crashed in at his front and left, and Two Face stomped forward just to the right.
The carnotaurs bumped against each other, pushing and shoving to enter the office first. Two Face heaved her weight into Hellfire and knocked her into the side wall. With a ferocious growl Hellfire stooped under Two Face's belly and threw her up against the ceiling.
In a rain of debris Two Face toppled on her side, kicking at Hellfire. Daniel used this instant to take a running vault onto Two Face's head. Hellfire was so preoccupied with getting kicked in the shins that she didn't even see Daniel run by. Two Face had been taken off guard, and Daniel was already running down her tail before she turned to snap at him. She did not get very close as Hellfire proceeded to stomp her face.
Dr. Conners, Seth, and Kyra cowered in the midst of the battling carnotaurs. None of them could imagine how they were going to get past the dinosaurs as the stunt Daniel had just performed seemed out of the question.
Hellfire and Two Face tangled together like a pair of battling boa constrictors. As their bodies intertwined they rolled toward the front of the office where everyone was standing.
"Look out!" Dr. Conners used what strength he had to thrust himself and Kyra and Seth out of the way.
The three of them fell to the ground and then crawled up against the couch to avoid getting walloped by swinging tails.
Leaning against the couch Dr. Conners looked faint.
Kyra grabbed his shoulders and said, "Come on, Dad!" She looked at the hole in the wall that was no longer blocked. "We have to go now."
Dr. Conners raised a painful and weary hand. "I told you to run." He pointed.
"No!" Kyra turned to Seth. "Help me!"
Seth grappled around Dr. Conners, and together he and Kyra forced him to a weak standing position.
Dr. Conners gave his daughter a disapproving look. "You never listen."
She gave him an assertive glare. "I'm not going to start now."
"Hurry." Seth nodded toward the opening.
As rubble from the floor was thrown in their direction by the wrestling carnotaurs they made a hasty retreat back to the hanger.
