CHAPTER 293

Falcon's attention was diverted. She tilted her ear to the sky and listened. Vulture was at her side doing the very same thing. The two utahraptors turned to each other and whispered vocalizations like an exchange of words. Expressions of intrigue, concern, and alertness crossed their faces. Falcon appeared to make a commanding statement, and Vulture backed away with a nod and a bow. Rearing her muzzle to the air she barked out orders all around the circle of velociraptors.

Within seconds the clan was dissipating, exiting the enclosure, and leaping for the trees. Falcon and Vulture hastily retreated with them, and before long the only ones who were left were the guards.

Seth and Kyra stood perplexed as the stirring of foliage faded. Dianna turned to Ms. Murdock and Daniel, wondering if they had noticed something she hadn't.

Ms. Murdock had her ear to the sky just as the utahraptors had done a moment ago. Daniel was doing the same thing. They both had this look upon their face as though they were experiencing something that could potentially be truly ironic.

"Joan, what is it?"

"Listen, Dr. Johnson."

Dianna, Seth, and Kyra all strained their ears, and soon they heard it. Flying somewhere over the island were helicopters.
