6:30am.

Not a typical time to wake up if you were a high school student on a Saturday morning. But if your name was Mai Taniyama then it was a typical time to wake up. The brunette jumped out of bed and began her day getting ready for her part time job at Shibuya Psychic Research or SPR for short.

Mai could recall how 2 years ago her life had completely changed again. Her boss who she referred to as Naru the Narcissist was actually none other than the famous British psychic researcher Dr. Oliver Davis. Upon that discovery it was also made known that he was only in Japan to locate the body of his deceased brother Eugene (Gene). Once the body was recovered he and Chinese bodyguard known as Lin returned to their home in England.

Madoka Mori, a woman who was known for being a mentor to Naru, stayed behind and took over the business and allowed Mai to keep her job. Of course everyone else who was part of the team at SPR stayed to help with any new cases that they would receive from that point forward. However, with the departure of Naru and Lin it seemed that all the interesting cases went along with them.

All the cases they seemed to be getting of late all had reasonable explanations and nothing was really haunted. Every once in a while they did get a case that proved to actually have some paranormal activity but it was nothing they couldn't handle on their own.

Even after two years Mai found it difficult for her to address Naru as his given name Oliver Davis, whenever someone at SPR mentioned him. No matter how hard she tried she just couldn't bring herself to utter that name, so she stuck with Naru. On a more positive note the brunette was able to strengthen her psychic abilities.

She was able to develop some PK and enhanced her astral projection ability. Now when she dreams she can wake up with an injury the spirit may have received in that particular dream. She also did lose Gene who was there in her dreams and was guiding her.

Mai arrived to the office at 7:30 and opened the door to Madoka already inside on her laptop.

"Good morning Madoka," Mai greeted as she hung up her sweater on the coat rack.

"Hello Mai," the pink haired woman responded with a warm smile.

Immediately Mai headed straight for the small office kitchen and put some water in the kettle and placed it on the stove to boil.

'Ah what am I doing it's not like he is here demanding tea from me. Stupid, tea loving, narcissistic jerk it's your fault I have this habit now,' Mai thought to herself feeling annoyed.

"Hey Madoka would you like some tea," Mai called to her.

"Sure thanks," Madoka replied.

When the kettle whistled signaling the water was ready Mai poured the water into the two cups she grabbed and mixed in the tea leaves. The assistant brought one tea cup to her pink haired boss and took the other into her respective office. Madoka had decided that Mai needed a proper office, instead of a desk in the corner of the main room, so she had an additional room built. Mai was grateful and thought it was better than having to take over Naru or Lin's office, it wouldn't have felt right to her.

The brunette took a seat in her chair and let out a heavy sigh. She took a sip of her tea and put away some of the files that were sitting on top of her desk. Once the files were put away and the girl slumped back into her chair.

"It's been two weeks since the last case and things have been so boring here lately," Mai said aloud while sighing.

Suddenly she heard the front door to the office open and left her personal space to go and greet their guest. To her surprise it wasn't a client but actually Monk who opened the door. He entered the office first with all the other team members following right behind him.

"Good morning everyone," Mai greeted with a smile.

"Good morning my sweet little Mai," Monk exclaimed and gave the girl a giant bear hug.

This action had earned him a smack in the back of the head by the red headed miko, Ayako. This caused an argument between the two which made John the priest go to try and break up their little spat. Yasu took this as an opportunity to make his way towards Mai and tried to act like his usual perverted self. Even though Yasu was just a boy with no supernatural abilities Madoka decided it was best to keep him hired on as an investigative researcher.

Of course Yasu could never get away with acting like a perv towards Mai because Ayako smacked him in the back of the head as well. Masako, the famous psychic medium was the last to enter the office in her usual quiet manner. Mai looked around at everyone feeling warmth spread throughout her chest. She had grown accustomed to these people who had become like family to her and loved it when they could all gather together like this.

"Have a seat and I'll go make us some tea," Mai said and made her way again to the kitchen.

'Agh Naru I swear I'll make you pay for this,' she thought shaking her fist.

Mai filled the kettle with more water and once again put it to boil.

"So what has you worked up all of a sudden," a voice sounded from behind the brunette.

She turned her head to find none other than Yasu standing behind her. When it came to sneaking up on people Yasu was nothing in comparison to Naru's ninja-like stealth.

"Why is it that whenever I am thinking you just have to come and sneak up behind me," Mai turned her body to face the older boy.

Upon closer inspection Mai could see he did have handsome features that developed over the years. He seemed more like a young man versus the young teenage boy she had first met. If it weren't for his perverted tendencies Mai could have considered the possibility of dating him. Not that she would ever let him know that, knowing him he would let all this go to his head and become insufferable.

"I love watching your facial expressions some of them are pretty funny," Yasu replied casually.

"Geez you never change do you," Mai said irritated as she turned to grab cups for the tea.

"Nope I'm the same man I was when you first met me," he grinned.

The girl visibly rolled her eyes and started pouring tea into the cups.

"Well since you're here you can help me take tea out to everyone," Mai told him as she placed some cups on a tray and started walking with it back to the main room.

"Sure anything for a pretty girl like you," Yasu said grabbing the remaining two cups.

Upon hearing that comment Mai stopped in her tracks and could feel a blush start creeping up on her face.

'Get it together Mai he is just acting like his usual self,' Mai though shaking her head trying to get the comment to leave her brain.

"You're so lucky my hands are occupied otherwise you would've gotten a smack to the head," Mai voiced continuing into the room.

"So how come you guys are here I don't think we have a case right now," Mai asked as she started handing out the tea.

"Actually I was the one who called them here," Madoka stated as she closed her laptop.

"Oh so did we get a new case," Mai asked as she sat down next to Monk.

"No not yet but a client will be by in about an hour to talk to us. But we should have a couple of people actually joining us here now as well," Madoka gave the group a mischievous smile and sipped her tea.

"And who might these two people be," Ayako asked.

Now somewhere else on a completely different continent two stoic men were preparing to return to Japan after their departure 2 years ago. They were in the airport early, very early in the morning for their 5 hour flight. Once they landed the drive to the office would be about an hour.

Madoka was the one who contacted Oliver asking him to return and to continue running the Japan office. Of course he quickly declined her request saying that there was no need for him to ever return. For the next week following that initial phone call Madoka called Oliver everyday insisting that he return especially since they had no interesting cases without him. Seeing how his former teacher was not going to drop the issue any time soon he agreed to return.

At this point the two men begun boarding their flight and before they knew it the plane was taking off to their destination. Once the plane had reached cruising altitude Lin opened his laptop and began typing. Oliver rested his elbow against the window and placed his cheek within his palm. He let his eyes close and before he knew it he had fallen asleep.

When Oliver opened his eyes again he was standing within a black void that stretched for miles and miles.

"Where am I and what am I doing here," he asked out loud irritation evident in his voice.

"Come on Noll lighten up if you keep up this depressing act then you'll never get girls to fall in love with you," said a voice that was all too familiar to Oliver.

He turned his body so quickly to face the voice that he felt like for a moment he was going to become dizzy and fall. The person he now faced was someone he never expected to see again during his lifetime. It was his twin brother Gene, he was still in limbo and Oliver couldn't understand why.

"Gene what are you still doing here," Oliver questioned.

Now a normal person would have never heard the hint of surprise in Olivers's voice as he asked that question, but for someone like Gene or Lin they could have picked up on it easily.

"Wow that's the first thing you say to your own brother, your twin after all this time. Not even a hello or how are you doing but a what are you doing here," Gene said acting like his usual self and pouted.

"This is serious you shouldn't be here you should have crossed over by now," Oliver voiced angrily.

"Actually I'm not done here yet," Gene smiled at his brother sheepishly.

Oliver was about to start unloading every question going through his mind but Gene was the one who spoke first.

"Before you say anything I will explain it all later for now I just wanted to give you a message," the kinder twin said losing his smile and became serious.

"What is it," Oliver crossed his arms over his chest.

"Try to keep Mai close to you guys at all times don't let her go anywhere by herself," Gene kept the serious look on his face.

"Why is she in trouble," the stoic boy asked seemingly concerned.

"Just do it I promise I will tell you later," Gene said as his figure started fading away.

"Wait Gene just tell me," Oliver yelled.

"Sorry until next time little brother," Gene said.

A blinding light began to fill the void making it impossible for Naru to see or keep his eyes open. Then Naru's eyes flew open and he noticed that he was back on the plane. He could feel the tiny beads of sweat that were forming on his forehead. He rubbed his eyes with both hands and let out a sigh.

"Is everything alright," Lin asked looking at his young charge.

"Yeah I'll be fine. How much longer," Naru asked shifting his position in his seat.

"We should be landing in about 5 minutes," Lin replied closing his laptop.

When the plane finally landed the duo grabbed their luggage and walked over to Lin's van. Madoka had gotten someone to drop it off in the airport parking lot that way they didn't have to pay for a taxi or bus to bring them to the office. They placed everything into the back of the van and climbed in to make the 1 hour trip back to Shibuya.

Naru was looking out the window and was mulling over what Gene had told him in is dream.

'It must have to do with the fact that she is a danger magnet,' Naru thought smirking to himself. 'Then again we are talking about Mai here she is an accident prone idiot so it would be natural for someone to worry'.

The rest of the drive went by quickly, quietly, and smoothly just the way Oliver liked things.

The two men finally arrived to the office and immediately exited the van. If there was one thing Naru hated more than ever it was the sound of yelling being heard from the office, which is exactly what he was hearing currently. He only knew very few people who could make this much noise so early in the morning. Needless to say he was not looking forward to walking into the office. Naru pinched the bridge of his nose and let out a deep sigh.

"It seems that everyone has come to welcome you home," Lin said as he walked around the van to stand next to Naru.

"The only thing they are doing is making too much noise and will be returning to their homes immediately. However you and Madoka were the only ones who knew of our return," Naru said as they both walked towards the door.

Lin let a small smirk appear on his face and Naru knew he had gotten his answer.

'This is going to be fun,' Gene spoke telepathically to his brother.

'Oh great you can still communicate with me telepathically,' Naru replied with a sigh.

'Yup now just have fun or at least try to it would mean a lot to the others especially Mai,' the older twin stated.

'Why would it matter she loves you remember,' Naru stated plainly.

'Do you really believe that you idiot scientist,' Gene retorted.

If only his twin was able to see the look on his face right now.

'Yes I do now go I'm busy,' Naru said and the telepathic connection was cut.

Naru stood in front of the door to the office. He knew things would change for everyone once he opened this door. He turned the knob and opened the door wide. The mood changed from loud and rowdy to quiet and shocked. Everyone in the office except for Madoka stared at the two men with wide surprised eyes.
