Chapter 147: Join the interstellar party
"So, have you figured out where Yudias and the others disappeared to?"
"No, stop. You know there's no way to find out anymore," Asaka responded to Kawai from her end, her men and the reprogrammed Dark Drones inspecting the time machine.
"So it is…However, it was by defeating Ohdo Yuhi that the Velgearians were revived, no? It was as I predicted."
"Right now, Shewbahha is doing his best, but…Numbers are numbers, at any rate."
…
8.88 million lives aboard Valvelgear.
The Dudi Ducasse.
The remaining population in the Velgear Cluster, and those taking refuge among the stars.
The sworn enemies to the Velgearians created by Kuaidul, who they'd reconciled with.
A train of over twenty shipping containers and the Kozmo Forerunner…The aid of his droids, Fer-blanc and Fowlmeat, yet still…The assignment was a monumental one. It would require several round trips.
He had neither the free time nor the excess stamina to contemplate what Mitsuko and Tamako's polar opposite was planning. His stomach was empty, and it'd been hours since he perforated a sheet of Phaser's arduously woven scales with his shark teeth.
Drool.
"You're coming with me! Got it?"
"I refuse," Shewbahha spoke plainly.
"HAH? Run that by me again, why don't you?" the diminutive Dinois Velgear screeched.
"I'm busy. Mutsuba Asaka has me picking up the Velgearians who were resurrected all at once. It's a demanding job, shuttling that many people from Dark Matter Space to Earth."
Asaka was a real ball and chain. Which complemented her well: She loved tearing down buildings with the swing of a wrecking ball.
"That can wait! We have to find that something-obsessed Grampjo NOW!"
"The Velgearians are your kin. I thought you were upset Zuwijo betrayed you."
"I'm not concerned where that traitor went or anything! Be-besides, the Dark Matter Empire can't disrupt our resurrections when everyone's been brought back! There isn't even a Dark Matter Empire anymore!"
Just like Mitsuko, Dinois was doing great proving she was not not thinking about Zuwijo (except in Dinois' case, her hang-ups weren't romance-related, and didn't result in Goha Corporation HQ's windows belching curry).
She'd died and come back. Rudderless. And whereas Zuwijo had found a new purpose to his existence, Dinois was taking her frustration out on anyone with ears.
"Let me finish my work. I haven't eaten in –"
"Not until we look for clues, got it? Velgearians as a race have survived being extinct more than once! Waiting in the cold of space for a spaceship ride is no stumbling block for us!"
Conveniently leaving out she screamed at him the whole way to the Underground Alien Residential Area, upon her unflattening.
"You and Mutsuba Asaka and the space dragon brothers are all alike. You're tyrants."
"Oh yeah? I find your lack of compliance disturbing!"
"You're not the first person who's told me that. And that person was marooned in space after saying it to me, by the way. She was also a tyrant."
"So I should be nicer to you, is that it? NOTINAMILLIONYEARS!" Dinois pounded her feet.
"I have to get back to work. You're smart. You should realize if time travel is involved, there's nowhere in the galaxy I could take you that will take you to Zuwijo."
Dinois brought her saucer around, putting it on a slant so she could pull Shewbahha's goggles and snap them back over his head. "Then Rush Duel me! I'll win and you'll help me, got it?"
"I know Yudias made it popular throughout the galaxy to solve our problems with Rush Duels, but this is un –"
She wasn't listening. Or her ladybug earmuffs were filtering him out. "Get ready to blast off! Dinois Velgear!"
"Shewbahha," the courier sighed.
Seriously. Near-death wasn't anything new for him either. But that didn't mean he didn't want to eat!
"GO RUSH!"
"Go…Go Rush. Yay." Shewbahha was the picture of enthusiasm.
"My turn! I draw! I summon Voidarve Antromeda, and send the top card of my Deck to the Graveyard to activate her effect! If I'm Advance Summoning a monster, this card counts as two releases! And then, and then! I can add the monster sent to Graveyard to fulfill this effect's requirement to my hand!"
"What?"
"I release Antromeda to Advance Summon! It is I who shall ascend and fly the very heavens. Now crash onto stage and dance! Voidarve Heavenstar!"
Voidarve Heavenstar (Level 7 FIRE Galaxy/Effect ATK 2400 DEF 1600)
"I send a card from my hand to the Graveyard to activate the Magic Card, Micronova! Until the end of this turn, Voidarve Heavenstar's ATK goes up by 800!"
Voidarve Heavenstar (ATK 2400 ↑ ATK 3200)
"Then, for each different Attribute in my Graveyard, I can deal you 100 damage! In my Graveyard, I have Voidarve Antromeda and Voidarve Amenboyager!"
"Grhrr!" (Shewbahha LP 4000 ↓ 3800)
"I send a card from my hand to the Graveyard to activate Heavenstar's effect! Magical Collector! I return a Magic Card from my Graveyard to my Deck. And that Magic Card, I don't have to tell ya, is Micronova! THEN I draw another card! I send a card from my hand to the Graveyard to activate Micronova!"
"Impossible! You drew the same Micronova you shuffled into your Deck?"
Dinois had Manabubu's out of this world luck!
"Heavenstar's ATK steadily increases again!"
Voidarve Heavenstar (ATK 3200 ↑ ATK 4000)
"Now with the additions of Mantistar and Butterflame to my Graveyard, Micronova's damage also increases!"
"But you can't attack during the first turn. This bit of damage…I've chewed myself out of tighter binds than this!" (Shewbahha LP 3800 ↓ 3400)
"Nshishishi! Keep duelling and you'll learn soon enough! Turn end! Got it?"
Voidarve Heavenstar (ATK 4000 ↓ ATK 3200 ↓ ATK 2400)
Shewbahha stared, going from apathetic to darkly unstable. His mouth slit sideways, widening into a toothy rictus.
Hunger and anger coincided. Something he and Rovian's descendant had in common.
"What's the hold-up? If you don't speed this along, we'll be here dancing all night!"
"Don't worry. I'm all about speed," he said slowly to savour the moment. "My turn. Draw!"
