The protagonist, if there even is a protagonist in a Slice of Life story, is an OC made using my Wizarding World results. As such, the story takes place when I would've gone to Wizarding school. Taking the official Wizarding World timeline into account, that places this story around eleven years after the Battle of Hogwarts, as I was born in the summer of 1998, the year that battle canonically took place.
Taking that into account, this, much like my other OC driven story Heroes Academy, is going to need heavy reader input to work, specifically OC's. Luckily, this will be easier to accomplish than last time since you can use your Wizarding World results as a baseline for your OC.
I hope to have your support in this story. Please enjoy.
...
It was a rather muggy day in London, with people going about their business left right and centre, while others stayed indoors. One of the families remaining indoors was the Does, an American family that had moved to London for the job of the family breadwinner, Alexander Doe. Said breadwinner was reading the days paper while his wife, Emily, read through several brochures for nearby schools for their son, John. John was sitting by the window, playing a game on his Game Boy. Out of the family, he had adapted to their new home the fastest, to the point that he was excited to be celebrating his first birthday in their new home.
The family was shaken out of their respective activities by a knock at the door. Confused, Emily went to answer it, Alexander and John watching in shared confusion. Emily opened the door to see a man in a dark green pin-striped suit. He had short brown hair with grey tips, as if it was singed, and scars along his cheeks, definitely caused by an animal. He also smelled of ash, though it was faint.
"Hello?" Emily greeted the man.
"Good day madam," the man greeted in return, "Is this the Doe residence?"
"It is," Emily responded, cautiously moving her body to block her family from view, unsure of what to think of the man.
"And would you be the mother of Jonathan Doe?" the man asked, not at all phased or insulted by the woman's caution.
"I am," she gave him a suspicious look with her answer.
"It's an honour to meet you madam. My name is Henry Walburn. I would very much like to discuss an issue regarding your son."
"What kind of issue?" Her suspicion now showed in her voice.
"Not a bad issue, I assure you," the man finally responded to woman's signals, "But certainly one that shouldn't be discussed in public. May I?" He gestured towards the interior of the home.
"I suppose," she stepped aside, not taking her eyes off the man.
"Thank you very much," Henry gave a thankful nod as he entered the flat. His eyes then met with Alexander's, which allowed him to quickly identify the concern the breadwinner shared with his wife. His gaze then fell on John. "Could you come over here, please?" He asked the boy, "There's something of vital importance that I need to discuss with you."
John looked between his parents, unsure of what to do. When his father gave him a reassuring nod, he hesitantly put down his Game Boy and strode over to the dining table. He pulled up a chair as Henry did the same. Once John was seated, Alexander was right behind him with Emily taking her original seat, but much closer to where her son was in case she needed to grab him.
"Do you know who I am?" Henry asked, once he was sure the family was done moving.
"Yoy said your name was Henry." John replied, still not sure how to feel about the man.
"You can call me Hank." Henry assured the boy, "Everyone in the family does." He looked between the three for their reactions. Only John seemed to be shocked, though not as much as Henry thought he would be. "I take it your parents already told you the true nature of your relationship?"
"They adopted me because they couldn't have a baby of their own."
"Good," Henry let out a nervous breath he had been holding, "I know how devastating that kind of news can be for a child. I'm glad I'm not the one who had to deliver it." He took a few breaths to relieve the tension of his nerves. "The reason they could adopt you was because my sister and her husband wanted a girl, but had you," he paused, allowing John to register the information. Once he was sure John had processed it, he continued, "They eventually succeeded and, well, your sister is eager to meet you."
"Why?" John asked.
"Because I told her about you... I've been keeping an eye on you for a long time John. Just because my sister didn't want you doesn't make you any less a member of this family. Nor does it prevent you from being allowed to attend the same school that trained us."
"School," Emily asked, trying in vain to hide the brochures.
"Yes. Oh," Henry then remembered something . He reached into his coat and pulled out an envelope, putting it on the table in front of John. "This is yours. They typically send it by owl and send a Ministry worker to ease you all into it, but given the circumstances, I wanted to be the one to introduce my nephew to our world."
"'Our world'?" John asked, only for Henry to point to the envelope in response. John carefully opened it and read the first letter within.
HOGWARTS SCHOOL OF WITCHCRAFT AND WIZARDRY
Headmistress: Minerva McGonagall
(Order of Merlin, First Class)
Dear Mr Doe,
We are pleased to inform you that you have a place at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. Please find enclosed a list of all necessary books and equipment.
Term begins on 1 September. We await your owl by no later than 31 July.
Yours sincerely,
Filius Flitwick
Deputy Headmaster
John read and reread the letter at least three more times before passing it, and the list, to his mother so she could read them. He now looked at his uncle with a mix of shock and awe.
"I'll tell ya, I was this close" he nearly pressed his index finger and thumb together, "to missing the window to get your father transferred here before your information was sent to Ilvermorny."
"Wait, what!?" Alexander proclaimed.
"Magic's real?" John asked in wonder.
To answer his question, Henry pulled out a wand and gave it a wave. Without warning, John's Game Boy flew from the windowsill and into his uncle's waiting hand. Henry placed the device on the table and smiled at his nephew, who was getting more and more excited by the moment.
"With training and practice, you'll be able to do that too. And a whole lot more."
"I assume that there are stores in your world where he can get all this?" Emily piped up, gesturing to the list of supplies, "Because I don't think I'll be able to find all of this."
"Of course. All Hogwarts students do their shopping at Diagon Alley. Speaking of which, that is our destination for the day."
"Wait, today?" Emily went from inquisitive to mama bear in a snap, "You come here, claim to be my sons uncle, claim that he's a wizard and expect me to let you take him school shopping?"
"You're more than welcome to come along," he nonchalantly responded, "Besides, now that he knows what he is, there's no stopping his development. Wouldn't it be better for him to be properly trained?" He let his argument sink in for a moment before giving a closing statement, "He's been away from our world long enough."
Emily thought about it. She remembered times when unexplainable things happened around John; his favourite blanket going missing, then suddenly appearing in his crib when he was a baby. Going to kindergarten with one toy and coming home with a completely different one with no mention of a trade ever having taken place, nor any theft reports. Then there was the time he had somehow taken the meatballs off of his fathers spaghetti from across the table without any indication that he had moved. The idea that her son was magic made those instances make a lot more sense.
"Alright," She sighed, resigned to the truth, "But if this is some kind of practical joke, you had better be prepared for the consequences."
With that, mother and son got their shoes on and followed the wizard, leaving Alexander to hold the fort.

If you would like to add an OC to the cast of this story, it is very simple. Just take a base from one of these sources; Your Wizarding World/Pottermore results, Hogwarts Legacy, Hogwarts Mystery, Magic Awakened, or Quidditch Champions, and apply them to the following structure.
Name(Pretty self explanatory)
Date of Birth:(To help me keep track of what year they should be in in comparison to John)
Relatives:(Optional bit of Character Building)
Blood Status:(True Harry Potter fans know how big of a deal this can be)
House:(Yet another self explanatory requirement)
Wand:(A bigger deal than you might think)
Patronus:(Not really important until your character's sixth year, but hey, we want to make use of all our resources)
Quidditch Position:(If you roleplay your character playing Quidditch, this section is for you)
Broom:(Only mandatory if you filled out the preceding section, otherwise it's optional)
Likes:(First section to help flesh out your character's personality)
Dislikes:(Second section to help flesh out your character's personality)
Extra Details:(Third and final section to flesh out your character's personality)
This is the best possible way for me to be able to adapt your character from concept to page. Feel free to offer your OC in either a review or a PM.
