Overlord: The Power of Two

Book 1

Chapter 9. Different Thoughts

Ninya didn't know what to do about it. Unexpectedly, the adventurer who was accompanying them ended up discovering her big secret in the worst possible way. Nervous is a feeling that fell short with the poor sorceress.

Arriving with him, our Vampire was leaning against a tree a little further away, "So, are you afraid that that Lukrut guy will end up making you uncomfortable?" he asks out of curiosity.

Ninja couldn't help but have tears of pleading in his eyes, "Please... please don't tell anyone."

Seeing her feeling, Blade knew immediately that Ninja wasn't hiding her gender out of some sort of fetish, or anything like that. He also remembered stories in his original world of how in ancient times many women would disguise themselves as men to accept jobs or be in places where men were more common; such as piracy, among others.

"If you're afraid of Lukrut, I'll take care of the problem," Blade assured.

The girl was confused for a few seconds, then quickly blushed in embarrassment.

"It's not that!" she exclaimed, to which she quickly lowered her voice so that no one would hear her.

"I'm not afraid of being raped or anything, they're decent people... but they kicked me out. I don't want to be kicked out. They can't kick me out. I can't..."

"Why should they kick you out? And if they do it just because she's a woman, just find a new team," Blade opined.

"...It's not that easy. There aren't many female adventure teams and male teams don't accept women, there's always someone who falls in love, or maybe more than one and they fight or... nature takes its course and they have to fill the gap when she leaves," Ninja begins to explain.

Blade unconsciously sits down on the trunk of a fallen tree, letting the sorceress sit next to him.

"Small teams can't take that hit. Especially when their members already have trust between them, there have always been cases that when a new one or more join, they can create more discord or distrust."

"They agreed to let Brita join us on the mission," Blade pointed out,

"But only for this job. Brita doesn't have a team, she's just looking for groups of adventurers to join her on one or two quests, but... I need money fast," Ninya confessed dejectedly.

"... Do you have a debt to pay?" Blade tries to guess.

She lets out a heavy sigh, "My sister. I lived in a humble village with my older sister, Tsuare, she was extremely beautiful. It was years ago that the last time was because of some nobles who took her away," as she spoke, she tightly squeezed her staff.

"They call them concubines, but I'm sure that for that noble it was like buying some kind of... a... sex toy," the girl's breathing quickened, trying to control her pulse.

Blade was silent. Realizing that this New World was in part not so different from his original world; One where the powerful abuse their power against the weakest. Being represented here by the Nobles.

Only now, he could do something about it. Now he could really feel that he could help others.

Silently he stood up again, "Is she still alive?" he questions without looking at her.

"I…I don't know," Ninya admitted, "That's why I'm an adventurer. If I make enough money as an adventurer, I'll be able to find her and…"

"If you expect to find her, and pay those pigs who took her, then nothing will end well," Blade opined, "I'll help you search, and rescue your sister. I give you my word."

Ninya looks at him in surprise at his words, and at the same time extremely touched.

"I'll keep your secret too. Good night," the disguised Vampire wishes before leaving.

"…Thank you," Ninya whispered her words with tears of renewed hope to meet her sister again.

Great Tomb of Nazarick

Floor 9. Office

Momonga, or now self-named Ainz Ooal Gown, was carefully looking at several scrolls he had on him.

Since Blade went to be part of an Adventurer with Narberal, he has been studying everything related to this New World. Which there are many things to learn. And also even learning his own disabilities in the process.

For example, he could not read much of the writing of the world. So he had to steal the abilities of some prisoners of his reading, so now he could do it.

Also thanks to Demiurge ordering several Shadow Demons to collect information, they now got several books and scrolls stolen from different areas of knowledge, such as temples or libraries or even the Adventurer's Guild itself.

Which allowed him to have knowledge of different stories of the New World, such as that of the Thirteen Heroes. Legendary figures who appeared two hundred years ago in the New World and fought against the Evil Deities when the world was in total chaos.

"I wonder if any of them… were a YGGDRASIL player," he thought to himself.

Then Demiurge entered the room, "Good evening Lord Ains," the demon greeted with a bow.

"I was waiting for you, what is your report in E-Rantel?" Ains asked.

"Our reports indicate that the Adventurer's Guild is very rigid when it comes to applying rank promotions. Lord Vlad will need more than just a pathetic bodyguard mission for those inferior beings."

"You too…," Ains thought.

"That is why I again ask for your permission to confirm with the project so that Lord Vlad can ascend quickly," Demiurge respectfully requested.

Ains remained silent. Yesterday the Demon in front of him informed him that in the same city of E-Rantel there was a Cult in its cemetery that worships the Undead, more specifically the Zombies, called Zurrernorn

Which its leader, or whoever is leading that group of sorcerers, wants to turn the city into a huge army of Undead. What they needed was the pharmacist to complete their spell.

To which Demourge advised to use that situation to support Vlad.

Ains had to think about it for a while. He knew that if he told his friend that, Blade would reject him claiming that they would get hurt, and even going to the cemetery to avoid the concentration of the Spell.

Reason why he didn't say anything. On the contrary, he continued thinking about how this new body, his feelings are changing.

"People will die...", thought Ains, "For some reason... I don't care," he confessed to himself.

After all, what does it matter if one or another human dies, so that Nazarick can rise to greatness?

"Proceed Demiurge," Ains authorizes with a red glow in his eyes.

END OF CHAPTER

We have reached the end of the chapter. We have just seen that while Blade, who retains part of his humanity, has expressed his desire to help others. The opposite of Ains, who is beginning to be consumed by his own avatar, without caring which humans are going to die...

Take care and I hope to see you soon
