Chapter 48: Onward to Fuchsia City

[Kanto Cycling Bridge]

The trio of trainers had left Dark City and now were on their way to Fuchsia City for their next Gym Badge. They were taking the quickest route, which was the Cycling Bridge. It was a massive bridge that acted as a road for bicycles that connect to several towns and cities, including Fuchsia City and Celadon City. They had to rent bikes at one of the many toll booths set up to get on the bridge. However, they didn't mind, especially if this would get them to the next city faster. Lynn rented a red bike, Ronnie Anne rented a purple bike, and Clyde rented a green bike. The weather was nice and they were enjoying the ride, while making good time.

"When should we get to Fuchsia City?" Ronnie Anne asked her mentor, moving up beside her.

"Well, at our current speed…" Lynn started, adding up the calculations in her head. "…We'll reach a pokecenter rest stop around sunset, where we'll stay for the night. Then from there, we should get to Fuchsia City in two to four hours. So it's looking like it will be late morning or early afternoon."

"Sounds good to me," Clyde said happily, pulling up to Lynn's other side.

"But if we don't stop at the pokecenter, then we will make it there tonight," Ronnie Anne argued.

"True, but we are not doing that," Lynn told her with a serious and firm expression. "We have been riding all day and only taking ten to twenty brakes every now and then. We're stopping there to give our whole body a rest. It's also dangerous to cycle at night with a light, which we don't have. We also don't know if Fuchsia's pokecenter will have any available rooms by the time we get there. I don't know about you, but I'm not sleeping on the ground after all this cycling."

Clyde nodded in agreement, while Ronnie Anne quietly grumbled. The young female trainer was eager to get to the next gym to get her next badge.

"Besides, this works better for us," the older trainer started saying while smiling. "I wanted to see if you two wanted to check out the Safari Zone before taking on the gym."

"Safari Zone?" The Mexican-American trainer asked, confused.

"Wait! It's in Fuchsia City?!" Clyde shouted excitedly.

"Yup," Lynn replied, making Clyde start cheering.

"Hello! I'm still lost here!" Ronnie Anne shouted, waving one her hands. "What's this Safari Zone?!"

"The Safari Zone is a special place to catch Pokemon!" Clyde replied excitedly. Ronnie Anne gave him a blank stare, making him laugh sheepishly. "What I mean by that, is there are many Pokemon in there that you won't likely find in the wild. The owner of it puts rare Pokemon in there, they breed, and that allows trainers to catch them."

"Okay, that sounds cool. What can you find there?" Ronnie Anne asked her companions.

"I checked their website last night," Lynn started to reply. "So of the ones they are saying you could find are Tauros, Kangaskhan, Scyther, Electabuzz, Magmar, Eevee, Carvanha, Feebas, Chansey, Lapras, Miltank, Skitty, Aipom, Ralts, and Furfrou."

"Wait! Miltank!" Clyde said in an excited tone.

"Yeah," Lynn replied with a smirk. "I've been thinking, and I think you should expand your team a little more. Since we technically only need two more badges, but are getting three more, you'll need to start preparing for the tournament. Which means you two should expand your team so it will be harder for others to predict what Pokemon you're going to use."

"That does make sense," Ronnie Anne said, thinking about what she just told.

"So I was thinking we should go there before going to the gym," Lynn continued, looking forward. "We go there and spend the day there. You two catch some new Pokemon, while I see if they have any good Fighting Types. Then we go challenge Koga the next day, and maybe you can see how your new Pokemon are."

"You seem sure that we'll catch some Pokemon if we go there," Clyde said with a raised eyebrow.

"Trust me, you will if we go there," she told him, looking back at him smirking. "I went to similar places in other regions and I was tempted to catch so many other Pokemon. I would be extremely surprised if you two didn't catch anything."

"Is there anything specific you're looking for?" Ronnie Anne asked her curiously.

"Not particularly," the Loud athlete replied, looking at her. "I wouldn't mind adding another Fighting Types to my team. However, if I find a good non-Fighting Type, I would catch it to make it hard to predict what I'll use. I only have Ghastly and Lycanroc as my only non-Fighting Types."

"What about you?" Clyde asked his fellow rookie trainer. "Is there a Pokemon you're looking for in particular?"

"I never really thought about that much," the young trainer replied, thinking about it. "I know when I started I wanted a Yveltal. Other than that one, I never really thought about it. All the Pokemon I have, I never considered getting them when I was planning to come on this journey. However, I am glad I did, because they all became important teammates to me."

"I know what you mean," Clyde said to her, smiling. "Gloom and Alcremie were the only ones I was interested in trying to get. Now hearing that I could possibly get a Miltank, I'm very excited to get to Fuchsia City!"

"So I take it that you're good with stopping there first before the gym, Clyde," Lynn asked him. Clyde just nodded and smiled.

"Alright, let's go to this Safari Zone first," Ronnie Anne said nonchalantly. Hiding the fact that she was actually excited to go to the place.

"Then it's setting!" Lynn shouted. "First thing we'll do, after booking our room at the pokecenter, is go to the Safari Zone!" Both of her students cheered as they continued to make their way to Fuchsia City.
