A necklace...

A boy...

A snake with glowing eyes...

"I have to do this"

"YOU WILL DIE!"

I woke with a gasp.

"My dear is everything alright?" Mother asked.

I blinked. What a strange dream. It took me a few seconds to realise that my head was pounding, and another 2 to notice my mom.

"How long have you been there Mother?" I asked while taking deep breaths.

"Not long... you're birthday's coming up , yes?" My mother replied like it was a regular occurrence for her to be in her daughter's room. I couldn't remember the last time my mother was here without some sort favor. It was always something about making appearances or meeting people with 'connections'.

I finally calmed down enough to reply in an even voice.

"It's in less then 2 months, I believe"

Mother looked thoughtful for a moment before informing me of something she needed to take care of downstairs.

I was used to her weird episodes. It doesn't happen too often that people notice, but it happens enough that anyone who observed her regularly would. She would ask me obvious and random questions. After that, she tells me about another thing that was just as confusing as former question. Once when I was 12, she asked me how many servings of tea I had for that day, then she proceeded to say 'Oh you'll look beautiful in red dress with tule and a-line skirt, with a matching cloak!' There wasn't any occasion where I would have worn that type dress at the time.I never thought much of it since it wasn't something that affects anything really. They were just harmless comments. I only raised my eyebrows at her but my mom would only shrug and ignore me like there was nothing out of the ordinary with what she was saying.

I sighed. It was too early in the day for something like this.

I washed myself while my thoughts stayed with the things I saw in my dreams.

Casting a drying charm on my hair, I started toward my dresser and sat down in front of my mirror to brush my hair. That's when I looked up to see my reflection.

Blue...

I blinked... twice... three times...

My right eye was bright cerulean blue.

"Mum!"

"I happen to think it's very beautiful... in a peculiar way. Which makes it even more beautiful!" Adeline said as she stared intently at my blue eye.

"You're even more alluring now Fin!" Narcissa teased.

"Please stop gaping at me like I'm the newest beast in Care for Magical Creatures" I stated lightly pushing Adeline away from my face.

It was 2 days ago when I noticed my right eye was in the wrong color. I also asked my mother whether she noticed my eyes.

"I asked my mum about it. Apparently, it's a trait passed on to the first female daughters of the family. Though the blue eye only appears when a witch reaches a certain age. She says it skips a generation or two.But I'm the only one who managed to have it in almost 9 generations" I frowned as I recounted what my mother told me.

"When you mentioned that you may look a little different in your letters I though I'd be seeing a new haircut. This is a lot better!" Adeline was all too thrilled.

I sipped my hot chocolate drink.

"Are they here yet?" Adeline turned to Narcissa who was busy enjoying her strawberry shortcake.

I looked at her. Who?

"Lucius is on his way"

Adeline released a soft laugh at Narcissa's reply to my questioning glance.

"I swear that boy is mad for you Cissy. You're getting married in a year and it's like he doesn't have the rest of his life to spend with you"

Narcissa blushed.

I shook my head.

" You're one to talk Ade. Leave it be. At least she's happy. Them both"

Two heads turned to stare at me.

"Who are you and what have you done to Serafina Rosier?"

"Maybe it's the blue eyes?"

They shared a hearty laugh..

"Funny" I replied.

"There you ladies are!"

Narcissa groaned at the new voice. However, I bet anyone could tell it was forced.

"Afternoon, Lucius" I greet.

"I thought you would give us more time with each other?" Cissa 'complained' as her betrothed grabbed a chair and sat down. Placing his arm on the back of her chair.

How sweet.

... I hope dear reader, that you've read that in the right tone. I have reason to believe you know me better than that. Nevertheless, I was genuinely glad that my bestfriends were being treated right.

"Afternoon Ade, Fin... I see that you're looking quite different now. I have to say that is impressive. Is it permanent?" Lucius asked as he too started to stare at my right eye.

"Apparently" I stated

Lucius nodded as if satisfied with my reply. I have got to hand it to the guy. When it comes to leaving me be, he's the best.

"To answer your question, Cissa. I would've gladly left you alone for at least another hour. However, it was you who insisted he came along and the bloke said he wanted to lunch already"

Before anyone could respond, I felt something warm on the side of my head and a hand on my shoulder.

"Don't lie, Malfoy. We both know you were thinking the same" The bloke jested.

Regulus was smirking at Lucius while he pulled up another chair and sat next to me.

"I insisted? Do you know how insufferable he is? My cousin is a spoiled brat when he sees something he wants" Narcissa rolled her eyes.

"...or someone" Lucius whispered to himself. Who am I kidding, we all heard it.

" Since we are already here, would you gentlemen like to order something?"

I asked. Food is always a good distraction. I turned to the dark haired boy beside me.

"... your eyes" He was staring so intently at me enough that I coughed after what felt like a long moment of silence.

I still felt his eyes on mine even as I looked away.

It was Narcissa who broke the silence when she cleared her throat.

"Earth to Regulus Black? Salazar at least have the decency to stay composed" She said as if scolding a misbehaving child. Nevertheless, my friend wore a wide grin.

Regulus blinked at his cousin before releasing a chuckle.

"I'm sorry Fin. It's just new... and I just didn't think you could be more beautiful than you were...yet here you are proving me wrong" He smiled.

Salazar help me.

"... Thanks" I said blankly, which I thought would throw him off. Instead, he smiled wider, squeezed my shoulder, and proceeded to call Lucius so they could get some food.

When Iooked back at my friends I could feel the excitement coming off of them im waves.

Adeline had her hand covering her mouth and Narcissa sipped her drink.

"Surprise" She winked at me.

"You're horrib-.."

"YOU'RE THE BEST" Adeline interrupted me with a soft squeal.

I shook my head and turned to see Lucius reading the menu while talking to a waiter. My eyes shifted to Regulus, who probably felt my stare since he turned his head to me, gave me a questioning look that said

Did you want something?

I shook my head.

As I turned back to my friends I

realized something from a while back...

Salazar, he kissed the side of my head earlier, didn't he?
