Chapter 3: Making Plans

It was a beautiful evening at the beach.

Most of the tourists and locals were gone and most people who were here now were couples wanting to admire the sunset.

Stella was one of those people.

She was smiling happily as she wore her lovely new sundress and hat, as she walked on the beach, hand in hand with the man of her dreams. They were now seated on a sandy hill, sitting on a picnic blanket her darling had brought and set up so her dress wouldn't be ruined, and they could enjoy the sunset in comfort.

And that is what they were doing right now. They were in each other's arms as they admired the beautiful view.

"Such a beautiful sunset. I'm so glad you talked me into this..."Stella said, as she remained in her beloved's arms.

"I'm glad you that agreed. I know this isn't exactly a trip to Paris but I'm happy that you are here with me..."A loving, tender voice was heard that made Stella feel happy and cherished right now.

"And I'll always be happy as long as you'll always be with me...John..."Stella said, as she turned away from the sunset and looked at the man of her dreams.

Her new husband, Johnathan Strong, or "John" as she called him when they were alone.

Her husband smiled lovingly at her and kissed her forehead.

"I'll always be with you, Stella Darling. I love you and I will always love you..."He said in a tender voice that just made his new wife smile more.

"I love you too, John and I always will..."Stella said as he leaned closer.

The two became closer and closer until-

Stella gasped as she shot up, having been awoken from her dream.

She looked around and saw she was no longer on that lovely beach with her ex-husband. She was on her bed, in her bedroom. She heard the snoring of Jean-Luc next to her, still asleep and snoring like he was sawing logs.

Stella then noticed that her heart was racing, and she felt a cold sweat as she looked around.

"Why did I dream that? Why did I remember that day? It was so long ago..."She thought, questioning what was going on in her mind to show her a memory she thought she no longer held fondness for.

The weirdest part was...when she woke up, she had noticed a faint smile on her face as she reminisced about the memory. It made her even more confused now.

"What time is it?..."She thought, still a little frazzled.

She turned to her alarm clock and saw that it was a little passed one in the morning. Way too early for her to be up. She wanted to go back to sleep but found that she couldn't.

"Why now of all times?..."She thought, feeling so lost and worried now as she didn't want to think about her dream.

Just then, the baby monitor acted up and her son was awake, clearly needing her. Stella got up, being careful not to wake up her husband and went to check on her baby boy.

"Hi, my baby. Can't sleep either?..."Stella asked in a soft voice, as her son kept crying.

She picked him up and realized what was the problem.

After a quick change, her son was still awake, and Stella went to the rocking chair that was used for times like this. She sang him a quick lullaby and soon her son was asleep again.

Despite feeling exhausted and still a little frazzled from her dream, her son's innocent face as he fell asleep was enough to make her smile. She gave a satisfied nod before she left the nursery and went back to her son's bedroom.

Once there, she put him back in his crib. Then she had to return to bed.

She felt tired and wanted to go back to sleep...and NOT think about her dream and what it possibly meant. Especially given recent events.

"It was just a dream. It means nothing. I probably just had a random memory is all..." She thought as she tip-toed to bed.

Jean-Luc, being the heavy sleeper that he is, was still asleep and snoring loudly. Stella didn't want to wake him but frowned as she couldn't help but recall something from the past.

"Sometimes I think he'd sleep through an Earthquake. Johnathan used to always wake up whenever Star so much as whimpered when she was a baby...and he always used to notice when I had trouble sleeping and comforted me if I had a nightmare..." She thought in frustration of her current husband and even a bit of admiration for her ex-husband.

She realized what she just thought and shook her head.

"I really must be tired. I'm thinking nonsense now..." She thought, as she tried to go back to sleep, hoping to NOT have that dream again.

Or think about what it possibly might mean.

The Next Morning

Star was already up and was eating the breakfast that Georgia made her and her father.

The housekeeper left for a moment to go pick something up at a nearby store, so Star and her dad was eating breakfast right now, after her father finished a phone call moments ago.

"So, how was Solene?..." Star asked knowingly.

Her dad had been on the phone with his girlfriend for a few minutes, before he showed up to have breakfast.

"She's fine. She should be done already be done by now and should be back later today..."Johnathan said since his girlfriend had been out of town on business for about two days, representing an important client in Chicago and should return later today.

"That's good to hear. I'm hoping her trip isn't too hectic for her..." Star said, since apparently, she was meeting a huge client there.

"I'm positive that she'll manage to get through anything. Solene is one of the best, after all..."Johnathan said, as he remembered something rather important.

Johnathan noticed they were alone now. He wanted to ask his daughter about. And right now, seemed like a good enough time as any other. So, he cleared his throat.

"So...Star...there is something I wanted to ask you..."Johnathan said, looking a little nervous now.

"What is it, Dad?..." Star asked, as she reached for her orange juice.

Her father didn't notice as he was sweating a bit right now before he spoke.

"Well...I was thinking and...well...how would you feel if Solene and I got married..."Johnathan said quickly.

The end result was Star doing a spit take and coughing on her orange juice and the father panicked.

"Are you okay?!..." Johnathan asked as he went to check on her.

"I...cough...I'm...f-fine. Just caught off guard..." Star coughed out, drops of orange juice falling from her mouth.

Once Johnathan was sure she was okay, he grabbed some paper towels to clean the mess since Georgia wasn't here yet.

All the while, his daughter was trying to process the information. She was super shocked to hear her own father asking her about her opinion of his engagement with his steady girlfriend of all things!

"Okay...so back up a bit...You and Solene are getting married?! Since when did that happen?!..." Star asked, still freaking out a bit at the thought of them getting engaged.

Her father sent her a nervous smile.

"No...yes...not exactly...it's complicated..." Johnathan said with a sigh.

"I haven't proposed to her yet or anything like that but...it's been on my mind for a while and the idea is pretty appealing..." Her father said, looking earnest as he said this.

His daughter was surprised to say the least, hesitancy in her face. She was so surprised that she almost couldn't find the right words to describe what she's feeling right now.

"Are you serious, Dad?..." Star asked, speechless from what she heard.

Her father nodded with an earnest expression.

"Yes, I know it's too early to do anything, but I love Solene and she and I have the same goals, the same hopes for the future and life..."Johnathan said, with a sincere expression on his face.

"I think that we truly have a future together and I want to see where this goes. I want to ask her if she's willing to take the next big step in our relationship with me..."He explained, looking earnest when he said this.

"I've already introduced her to your grandparents, and they hit it off well. Also, Solene's been bringing up me meeting her parents soon. I'm hoping to talk to her parents about us in the future..."The blonde man said, pulling on his collar as he felt somewhat constrained at the moment.

His daughter, all the while, just sat there. Still marveling over the news, she just received from her father.

"This is a lot to take in ..."Star said and her dad nodded.

"Yeah, it is. I'm hoping that it'll go well and that she doesn't any relatives that are as remotely bad as you-know-who..."Johnathan said, not wanting to think of a former mother-in-law of his that made his life miserable.

"If you are talking about the old bat, I doubt there's anyone worse than her. But I'll still cross my fingers and wish you luck, Dad..."Star said, sending her dad a knowing look.

"True. I can't get that unlucky with in-laws twice right, though your grandpa balanced things out...just barely though... "Johanthan said, trying to sound optimistic but was still worried of the prospect of running into another Beatrice.

"No ones that unlucky to run into more people like that witch, Dad. Plus, Solene is really nice, and I am sure that they are probably as nice as she is. So, I'm sure that her family will accept you too..."Star said cheerfully, before remembering about her dad eventually proposing to Solene in the near future.

"I sure hope so..."Her father said, still a little nervous of meeting potential new in-laws.

"So... did you buy a ring yet?..." Star asks with curiosity in her voice.

"I had one custom made. I'll show it to you after I get home from work. But aside from that, I haven't done anything else yet because I wanted to ask you first since this affects you as well. Considering how you were when you found out I was dating..."Johnathan said, trying to be responsible here.

"So, will you be alright if I asked Solene to marry to me?..."Johnathan said, while his daughter was still this all of this over.

His daughter was deep in thought and felt a little flustered, not sure how to respond to this.

"C-come on, Dad. Do you really need permission from your daughter just to get married again..." Star said in an attempt to stall for time while continuing to collect her thoughts on the life changing topic.

Her father sighed and tried to explain things better. The last worry he needed was to miscommunicate and have things snowball out of control. He tried to address the topic again through a softer and more relaxed fatherly tone.

"Princess, I'm being serious. Your opinion matters just as much as my own. I know that you had bad luck when it comes to stepparents, but Jean-Puke is NOT the norm..."Johnathan said, knowing one of the reasons she distrusted Solene when they first met.

"I know that, Dad. I know being a stepparent isn't synonymous with evil. Though Jean-Puke is practically the living proof of that old cliche..."Star said bitterly as she thought of that man.

"Believe me, you are definitely not alone in thinking that way about that man..."Her father said, not disagreeing with her. "Though calling that man a parent at all is a stretch..."He muttered.

"You got that right..." Star muttered.

"Still, you did think Solene was either possessed by a ghost or a gold digger when you first met..." Johnathan pointed out.

Star had the decency to look sheepish.

"Yeah, not my finest moment. Sorry again about that..." The blonde girl apologized.

Since she did learn from her mistake and he already grounded her when that happened, the blonde father gave his blonde daughter a reassuring look.

"That's water under the bridge at this point, besides you know Solene never held that day against you and neither do I..."Johnathan said, being sincere.

The blonde man then tried to ask his daughter again. This time he needed an proper answer, wanting nothing more than to know his daughter would be on board for this potentially major change in both their lives.

"So what do you think?..." Johnathan asked, hoping that she'll give him a crystal-clear answer of how she feels about this whole thing.

His daughter was now deep in thought. Star did her best to give this idea some serious thought and think as rationally as possible.

At first, she hated Solene and at the time she thought she was evil...something she was proven wrong and now looks back on with a lot of embarrassment and a bit of cringe. But over these past few months, she grew to like her, and she made her father really happy. She actually really liked her as a person to be honest.

However, for some reason Star didn't have a clear answer for her father. So instead, she asked him a question.

"When are you planning on asking her?..." Star asked.

"I was thinking of asking her on our six-month anniversary..."Her father explained.

Star's eyes widened.

"Wow, that's quick..." Star said, not sure what else to say since that's a little over a month away.

Her father sighed as he sent her a serious look but also spoke in a calm fatherly tone.

"Star, you're my daughter and I love you more than anything in the world...but I love Solene, and I want to have a life with her. I want to take the next step with her and the future looks bright with her..."Johnathan said, being sincere as he spoke.

"I told you this now since I wanted you to know and to get used to the idea if you still had second thoughts. The last thing I want is to force you to accept these changes and I would never do this without letting you know about these changes or without telling you about them first or without warning. I don't want to blindside you like what happened with your mom..."He said.

His daughter nodded, understanding his reasons. The blonde girl thought it over and unlike months ago when she couldn't even stand the thought of that woman being near her father, now she didn't have anything again the idea. She even started supporting the relationship between her dad and Solene, even though there were times she looked at it through teenage disgust at parental PDA. Still, her father was happy, and she really did want what's best for him.

Not to mention, despite their rocky start, Solene was kind to her, and she honestly felt like she could trust her. So, the blonde girl considered the possibility and what it entailed for the near future. Star then took in a deep breath and breathed out.

"I guess that I can get used to the idea. I mean...Solene is nice, and Dad is head over heels about her...which is kinda of gross...but also kind of sweet in its own way. Honestly, I guess I can get used to having an actual stepparent who a jerk and the idea of another baby brother or sister isn't something that I'm against..."The blonde girl thought over, not finding any real reason to say no.

The blonde girl tried to think of how life would be like if Solene officially joined their family and so far, she didn't see any real problems or downsides. Not to mention, she hasn't seen her father this happy for a long time, since before her parents divorce to be honest. Star then braced herself as she told her father her answer.

"Well, if she makes you happy, Dad.. than I'm happy. So, I'm okay with this..." Star said, as she put on a calming grin with a slightly cheerful tone in her voice.

She wanted her dad to be happy and Solene is a good person, unlike Jean Puke and his witch of a daughter. Maybe it wouldn't be so bad.

Her father seemed happy by her response and hugged her.

"Thanks, my little shooting Star. Knowing you approve means the world to me..."Johanthan said, hugging her.

Star hugged back, feeling she made the right choice. Even if a small part of her was still unsure about all this.

"Also...I want you to keep this between us, okay?..."Johanthan said suddenly. "I don't want you to tell anyone and Solene finding out thanks to someone spreading gossip..."He added.

"You got it, Dad. I won't say a word..."Star said, but her father sent her a serious look.

"I mean it, Star. I don't want you to tell anyone. Not your grandparents, not your friends or even Danny. I want this whole thing to be a surprise for Solene and you're the only person in the world that knows that I'm thinking about asking her to marry me..."Johanthan said, not wanting to risk Solene finding out by accident.

"Okay, no worries. I can keep a secret. Believe me, I can definitely keep a big secret from everyone. I promise, my lips are sealed..." Star said as she did the invisible zipping lip gesture.

Her dad smiled.

"Good. I'm already nervous just thinking about asking Solene the big question and it's still a couple months away. But knowing that I have you rooting for us behind the scenes eases my nerves..."Her father said, glad that Star was okay with his eventual engagement to Solene.

Star smiled back as she and her father finished their breakfast, all the while she was still thinking over this new change to their family life. There was no denying the butterflies in her stomach, but for now, seeing her father happy was good enough.

"Solene as a stepmom...at least it won't be anywhere near as bad as that snob Jean puke... though calling him a parent at all is laughable..."Star thought as she finished the last of her breakfast and tried to focus on all of the positives that will come from her father getting remarried to someone like Solene.

Star then noticed that a tiny part of her was excited by the sudden changes that were about to happening her life.

Granted there was not much to compare with the man who is legally her step-father was stretching the term to a microscopic edge. However, the idea of gaining a step-parent that actually cared and liked her was like something at the end of a fairy tale...even if there was another tiny part of Star was feeling unsure and it worried her a bit.

Still, she tried to be optimistic for her dad's sake.

"You won't have to keep it for long. Just got to wait until my sixth month anniversary so until then, not a word about this. No pressure, Princess..."Johnathan said with a chuckle.

Star sent him a slight smile at that.

"Maybe this is for the best..." She thought as she continued to eat her breakfast, and her father told her more about his plans to propose to his steady girlfriend.

Elsewhere

Stella Bevier had returned home from an errand she had today. She was now in her penthouse, where Alyssa was taking care of Pierre. Georgia's sister, who had been in the middle of feeding Pierre his bottle, saw her and greeted her cordially.

"Hello Madame Bevier. Welcome home..."Alyssa said as Pierre's mother walked inside the penthouse.

"Hello Alyssa. How was Pierre?..."Stella asked, as she placed her coat on the hanger.

"Oh, as always, he was such a little angel..."Alyssa said smiling as she handed the baby to his mother.

"Mama...mama..."Pierre said as he giggled happily as his mother hugged him.

"Mama missed you too, Angel..."Stella said lovingly, as she held her baby son.

Pierre laughed happily, playfully pulling some of Stella's hair and the blonde woman gave him a loving kiss on his forehead.

"Thank you again for looking after, my baby boy. I hope that he wasn't any trouble..."Stella said, as she paid the babysitter.

"There's no need for thanks, it's always fun to look after such an angel like him and he was no trouble at all..."Alyssa said, as she waves goodbye to both Stella and Pierre.

After she paid Alyssa and bid her goodbye, Stella was now with her son. Although she had her child with her, she still had the events of the day in her mind.

Stella thought back to her "errand" from earlier and why she called Alyssa in the first place...though she never told her the exact nature of those errands to be honest.

FLASHBACK

A few hours ago

Stella was in the middle of a therapist's office, one that her husband didn't know about.

She arrived here wearing sunglasses, a bandana and a new outfit so that he or someone he knew wouldn't spot her and mention it to her. It was something that she has been doing for a while now...though she hasn't gotten around telling Jean Luc yet.

Some might say that she was being ridiculous, and these actions were not necessary, but Stella didn't feel that way.

Anyway, she has been attending these a few times...since before Colette's trial to be more precise...actually since well before the little incident at the party to be more precise. She didn't want to admit how damaging it was for her, thus her disguise.

Her therapist, a kindly woman named Dr. Eri T. Shen spoke calmly and professionally to her during their session.

"And now I'm actually having dreams of all things!..."Stella said in distress, explaining about the dream she had about her ex-husband the previous night.

"And the worst part...this the first time I realized how much I...miss those days..."Stella finally admitted, feeling shame.

"Now, Stella. It's not hard to understand..."Dr. Shen said, looking up from her clipboard. "It's natural to look back on good times in stressful times, and it's understandable that you might have some unresolved feelings for your ex-husband but-..."Stella cut her off before she could finish.

"No, that's ridiculous! Absolutely ridiculous! I don't have feelings for Johnathan at all! I mean...our entire marriage was nothing but a phase. Even if Jean Luc had not come into the future, we were fighting constantly and divorce was inevitable, I can at least admit it!..."Stella insisted.

"Was your first marriage REALLY as bad as you claim it was? Or do you feel the need to tell yourself that?..."Dr. Shen asked.

"I...I'm not unfeeling or anything like that. I did have feelings for my ex back then, but we just fell out of it..."Stella said, looking confused.

The dark-haired woman wrote something down.

"From what you've told me, the two of you were always very passionate...whether passionate love or passionately wanting to strangle each other. But from what you told me, your ex is already in a serious relationship and you yourself are married and with a child. If you didn't still have some feelings for him, you wouldn't be having these dreams..."Dr. Shen said.

Stella just glared at her.

"I don't have feelings for Jean Lu-I mean Johnathan...I'm married to Jean-Luc, so he's who I love, not my ex..."Stella said, refusing such a ridiculous claim.

Dr. Shen raised an eyebrow as she kept writing down in her notes.

The rest of the hour was spent with the two and Stella continued to talk, hoping something could be done to get her to not have that dream again.

End of Flashback

Present Time

Stella shook her head and tried hard not to think about that.

"Dr. Shen is ludicrous. I mean...what a laugh. Me having feelings for Johnathan again?! Ha! No way!..."Stella mentally scoffed, adopting a smile more to convince herself than her baby, who had no idea what was going on.

She didn't have feelings for her ex-husband. Did she?

The blonde woman shook her head and snapped out of it. She didn't have time to waste on this.

She needed to care for her son after all. Her son with her current husband...who she is sure that she still loves. Right?

After her son took her nap, Stella noticed the time and knew that a certain someone was soon to show up at her penthouse any minute.

Meanwhile

Star's father had just left for work, while the blonde girl had her own plans for today.

But right now, she was having a flirty phone call with her beloved boyfriend.

"Morning, my dashing Danny-Boo..." Star said in a flirty tone after she answered the phone.

"Good to hear you, my enchanting Starlight..." Danny said, as they began to chat for a while.

After a while, Danny decided to ask her a rather important question.

"So, how is your mom lately?..." He then asked, knowing that the blonde woman probably was still dealing with the aftermath of Colette's arrest.

Star sighed.

"My mom is...coping..." Star began, before she sighed again.

"Actually, I can't say she's peachy right now. She keeps insisting she is fine but she's terrible at acting...still, considering what happened. I guess that she is doing better than I expected..." Star said, though that was an overstatement to be honest.

"That should sound like a good sign. Though if Jazz was here, she'd probably recommend that she see a therapist, like she suggested I do after the incident with the witch with hair extensions..." Danny said, since he knew his sister meant well but he was fine now that the restraining order was official and that he'd never have to see that witch again.

"I remember that. Still, my mom is a really stubborn person. I tried to mention something to her, but she always changes the subject. Still, I do hope that my Mom will at least consider what I said to her..." Star said, unaware of her mother's visits to a certain therapist.

Star soon checked the time.

"I need to get going now, Boo. Sorry to cut it short..."She said.

"It's cool. Talk to you later, Milady..." Danny said as they hung up at the same time.

After hanging up, Star checked the time.

"Okay, I got just enough time to do a quick job and do some exercise before I have to keep an eye on someone else..."Star said, as she went to do her usual workout routine

All the while, unaware of what was happening with her mother, or someone she was less keen to see right now

Elsewhere

Far across the other side of town.

At a seemingly abandoned warehouse, Vlad watched as his new henchmen were currently hard at work, practicing with their new equipment.

"Yo! This is awesome!..."Donovan shouted, being in a good mood for the first time as he fired at a bunch of cardboard cutouts of ghosts.

"Totally!..."Vivian said in an excited tone as she fired and hit the center of a bullseye target.

"I feel invincible! This is way better than those video games we used to play. Not even the DOOM games have this many awesome blasters!..."Theodore said, smirking as he used an ecto bazooka to blowup a group of cutout cardboard ghosts.

Donovan then imagined that the ghost cut outs where Danny and Star, narrowed his eyes and frowned.

"You'll pay for what you did me, you peasants!..."Donovan shouted as he opened fired and hit the cut outs without any difficulty.

Once done, Vlad applauded them.

"Well done, you three are getting the hang of this much faster than expected..."The evil halfa said, being sincere for once.

"Of course. We're elites after all..."Donovan said as he was still as prideful as ever.

"I think that I found a new way to use my anger in productive method, such as vaporizing ghost trash!..."Vivian said, as she fired at the remains of one of the cutouts, vaporizing it.

"And I think that I'm starting to fell in love with all these anti-ghost weapons. The girls will come flocking to me as soon as they see how awesome I am now!..."Theodore said, smirking.

"Well, I'm definitely liking this kind style of the working-class. It's way more specialized and efficient. As well as deserving of someone of my social class..."Donovan said, still as arrogant as ever.

And with these blasters that Vlad gave them, even more so.

Vlad grinned at how easily swayed and tricked these teens were. Even more so after Valerie had pretty much abandoned him. She was quickly becoming unreliable and he was beginning to doubt her loyalty. He'd rather find some replacements first before he investigated some more.

"Now...onto your next practice ..."Vlad said, as he pressed a button and soon appeared a cardboard cutout of Danny Phantom.

"Remember...your real job is to become the true heroes Amity Park as my new Masters Blasters...and to make a fool like Danny Phantom yesterday's news..."Vlad said while smirking.

Donovan heard the name and felt a spike of anger. The former rich kid grits his teeth and briefly imagined a boy with black hair and blue eyes in place of the ghost kid.

"Danny, huh? So, he has the same name as that peasant who Estelle chose over me and helped ruined my life. This is going to be a GREAT way to dish out some of my anger out on someone...and get some good practice for when I turned Estelle's and that peasant garbage's lives upside down and make her sorry for betraying me..."Donovan said as he fired blaster, managing to hit the cut outs head clean off, not realizing the irony in what he said.

Vivian and Theodore did the same thing.

"This is for turning me down and making me poor, Dork!..."Vivian said with a glare, taking her anger out on a cut out of the ghost kid who reminded her of that peasant jerk who rejected her.

"Sure, it's not the same guy...but he kind of looks like him if you think about it. So, this is really cathartic..."Vivian said, also not being aware of Danny and his secret.

"Does anyone else find it really weird that this ghost kid and that peasant kid share the same first name?..."Theodore asked out loud.

"Who cares. I just want to hit something!..."Donovan shouted as he fired.

"Just focus on your new shiny anti-ghost weapons..."Vivian said with great disinterest, which Theodore immediately did, while no longer questioning the parallel naming of both Dannys.

The newly dubbed Masters Blasters continued their training. Vlad kept thinking of the many ways he can use his newest goons for hire in his evil plans.

"I suppose the old saying really is true for those three, Ignorance really is bliss..." Vlad thought with an evil smirk of his own, pleased with their progress so far.

As they continued their training and did much better than even he expected, the evil villain continued to plot.

"My new teenaged pawns are doing well. I'm so glad to have found some new lackeys to do my bidding. Now onto the next step of my plan..."He thought, as his new minions kept training and were unknowingly becoming Vlad's new goon soldiers.

Ones whose fated were completely dependent on the whims of a diabolical Fruitloop with delusions of grandeur, whether they all knew it or not.

Vlad didn't care as he just needed a few more tests before sending them on their first mission...
