Chapter 12: Becoming Superheroes
[Immortals by Fall Out Boy]
Later, everyone gathered in Hiro and Genji's garage. "Arms up." Hiro said. The team raised their arms as Hiro scanned them. Later, Hiro brought up a hologram of the masks worn by Kijo and the masked man, whom they decided to name Yokai, and his neurotransmitter. "The neurotransmitters must be in the masks. We get the masks and they can't control the bots. Game over." He explained before going to work.
The 2 brothers visited each of the team's workshops as they demonstrated their skills in science, or in Fred's case, lizard compatibility. Later, Hiro and Genji were designing weapons of choice for each of the group. Later, outside at Fred's courtyard, Honey Lemon, now dressed in pink and orange armor, received a high-tech purse with little balls on the strap. As she put it on, she started pressing buttons on the screen. One of the balls entered the purse, revealing to be a mini chemical lab inside, and injected itself with the suggested chemicals before popping out into Honey Lemon's hand. Hiro then gestured to Heathcliff, who put on a similar Kabuki mask and dared Honey Lemon to come at him. She gently tossed the ball at Heathcliff's legs, which became trapped on a chemical gelatin. She then walked up and took off the mask. Heathcliff smiled at her success, which she hugged him in return. Hiro and Genji outfitted Gogo, now dressed in yellow armor, with electro-mag wheels on her feet. As Hiro helped her stand up, she found it tricky to keep her balance, but the wheels caused her to slip and fall on her butt. Hiro tried to help, but Gogo held out her hand, telling him not to help as she blushed hard. Gogo got back on her feet and wheeled around Heathcliff, getting the hang of the wheels now. She grabbed a garden hose and tied it around Heathcliff's legs, trapping him before she grabbed the mask. She wheeled back to Hiro and Genji, and tossed them the mask. Hiro gave her a thumb's up and a wink, which Gogo blushed hard, feeling flustered.
Later, back in the Hamada garage, Hiro and Genji pulled up their previous scan of Baymax, threw the old armor into the digital trash and prepared to make plans for a new armor. Hiro made a digital drawing of the armor on his laptop, and tested the auto poses of the finished design. "Yes!" He whispered. "Looks awesome." Genji said. Just then, Baymax walked in. Hiro and Genji compared the drawing with the real Baymax before he tried to pick up a soccer ball and started chasing it. Hiro then pressed a button and printed the armor's blueprints.
Later, back in Fred's courtyard, Hiro and Genji outfitted Metanite into a dark blue and gold armor, similar to the armor he worked on at SFIT, powered by a new and improved arc reactor. He activated his rocket boots and the flight stabilizers in his gauntlets, getting a feel for the hovering. "Could be worse. Could be worse. Could be worse. We're fine. We're good here." He said as he hovered around Heathcliff. After getting used to the hovering, he flipped upside down over Heathcliff and grabbed the mask. Later, Hiro and Genji outfitted Seer Shot in a sleeveless violet armor. She had a new and improved version of her goggles on her head and a crossbow on her arm. She examined one of her arrows before loading it in her crossbow. As she took aim, her goggles' right lens started zooming in on Heathcliff, targeting the mask. "Here we go." She said. As she fired her arrow, it transformed into a grappling hook and snatched the mask.
Inside the Hamada garage, Hiro and Genji worked their machines as they started constructing Baymax's armor. Finally, they finished the first piece; the left armed gauntlet. But as they attempted to put it on, Baymax's inflatable body caused a bit of a problem. But after pushing him against the wall, Hiro and Genji finally managed to fit the gauntlet on him. They then worked to fit Baymax in the remaining pieces; boots, rear, helmet and especially the stomach. They pushed the belly in as hard as they could before the armor piece locked in, making them fall over.
Later, in the courtyard, Hiro and Genji outfitted Hornet in a light green suit. (AN: Picture it like Wasp's MCU suit) Hornet looked at the shrinking belt that was equipped to the suit. As she shrunk, she noticed that the suit also came with wings. She laughed happily as she flew towards Heathcliff and around his head before grabbing the mask. Later, Hiro and Genji outfitted Proud Dagger in a black armor with a musketeer theme, complete with a mask, the fancy hat and the tunic. Proud Dagger was impressed with his new look. He took out his new rapier and ignited the blue laser blade. "All for one and one for all!" He declared as he charged towards Heathcliff. As he thrusted his blade, he stopped inches from Heathcliff's face. "I'll be taking this." He said, taking the mask off Heathcliff.
Inside the Hamada garage, Hiro and Genji looked on happily as the fully armored Baymax stood up, looking super heroic. As they gestured him to flex his biceps, he prepared his arms to do so. But then, as he flexed, his helmet popped off, followed by the rest of his armor, ending with the stomach piece. Hiro and Genji braced themselves as the pieces crashed everywhere. They face palmed themselves as Baymax started going after the soccer ball again.
Later, in the courtyard, Hiro and Genji outfitted Fred in a blue dragon suit. "Super jump!" Fred called, using the suit's spring feet to jump super high. "Super jump!" He called again, jumping higher before breathing fire from the suit's built-in flamethrower. "Woo-hoo! I breathe fire!" He cheered as he hopped around, trapping Heathcliff in a ring of fire. He landed behind Heathcliff before snatching the mask. Later, Hiro and Genji outfitted Wasabi in a green suit with special gauntlets on his wrists. He motioned his hands and activated blades made from his laser plasma energy. Hiro and Genji then gestured to Heathcliff who activated a tennis ball launcher. As a tennis ball was fired, Wasabi crossed his blades in front of him, slicing the ball in half. As more balls were fired, Wasabi moved forwards, slicing each ball until he sliced the launcher in half. He then deactivated his left blade and took the mask. Hiro and Genji went in for a high five, but Wasabi still had his right blade on. He deactivated it out of embarrassment and gave them their high fives.
Later, the team was in awe at their new powers. "Woo-hoo!" Fred cheered. "I love it!" Honey Lemon cheered. "Not bad." Gogo said, testing her throwing disks. "Amazing." Metanite said. "This is so much fun!" Hornet cheered. "Wicked awesome." Seer Shot said. "Magnifique." Proud Dagger said. "Anybody else's suit riding up on them?" Wasabi asked, feeling his suit ride up in an uncomfortable spot. "Hey, guys. Check this out." Hiro said as he and Genji walked up in their own suits. Hiro's was dark purple and Genji's was a white spider armor. (AN: Picture it like Spider-Man's Iron Spider armor) "We'd like to introduce…Baymax 2.0." Hiro introduced as he revealed Baymax in his new armor. "He's glorious." Fred said as the team stared in awe. "Hello." Baymax greeted with a wave. But then, he got distracted by a butterfly. He started following it, but Hiro stopped him. "Whoa, whoa, whoa. Hold up. Focus. Show 'em what you got, buddy." Hiro said. But Baymax didn't respond. "The fist. Show them the fist." Hiro said, gesturing to the fist. Baymax held up his fist as Hiro moved out of the way. "Ba-da-la-la-la-la." Baymax said, mistaking the action as the fist bump. "No, not that. The thing, the other thing." Hiro said. Baymax clutched his fist, which activated 4 rockets around his wrist. He fired the fist, shattering a statue on impact. "Whoa!" The team all said in surprise. "Rocket fist make Freddie so happy!" Fred cheered excitedly as the fist retracted itself back to Baymax. "That's just one of his new upgrades. Baymax, wings." Hiro said. Baymax deployed a pair of wings from his back. "No way!" Fred said in awe. "He has wings just like me!" Hornet said in awe. Hiro climbed onto Baymax's back and attached himself to the magnetic grips with the built-in magnets in his gloves and shoes. "Thrusters." He said. Baymax activated the thrusters in his boots. "I fail to see how flying makes me a better healthcare companion." He said. "I fail to see how you fail to see that it's awesome. Full thrust." Hiro said. But as Baymax was about to go full thrust, his full weight caused him to fall on his stomach. The full thrust shot him and Hiro past the team. "Okay, I don't think that was supposed to happen." Seer Shot said. "Incoming!" Metanite exclaimed. Everyone ducked down as Hiro and Baymax came back around. "Hang on, Hiro! I got you!" Genji exclaimed. He fired a web string from his web catchers and hooked it onto Baymax. "Wait. What did I just do?" He asked as he realized. Baymax yanked the web, pulling Genji into the air with him and Hiro as they flew away from the mansion.
The 3 of them flew out over the city. "Steady, big guy. Look, let's just take this slow." Hiro said as he repositioned his magnetic grip. Genji climbed up his web and joined his brother, but then he spotted something up ahead. "Uh, you might wanna rethink the slow part." He said, pointing ahead. Hiro gasped as he looked ahead and saw a cat statue for a sushi restaurant. "Up, up, up, up, up! Thrust, thrust, thrust!" He exclaimed. Baymax activated his thrusters, shooting himself into the sky and making Hiro and Genji scream. "Too much thrust! Too much thrust! Too much thrust!" Hiro cried. Baymax shut down his thrusters as they hovered over the San Fransokyo Bridge. "Baymax, what did you just do?!" Genji asked with worry. Just then, they started to plummet down towards the bridge's road. "No, no, no, no! Back on! Back on! On! On! On!" Hiro cried. Baymax reactivated his thrusters before they hit the street and flew past the moving cars. One boy, who was playing with his toy robot in his parents' car, saw them zoom by. Just then, Hiro and Genji saw that they were heading right for a truck. "Go up! Up, up, up!" Hiro cried. Baymax pulled up and flew to the top of the bridge, landing on it.
"Oh, man!" Hiro said in relief. "That was one wild ride." Genji said. "Maybe…Maybe enough flying for today. What do you say?" Hiro asked. "I second that." Genji said. "Both your neurotransmitter levels are rising steadily." Baymax said, scanning Hiro and Genji. "Which means what?" Hiro asked with worry. "The treatment is working." Baymax said. "Wait. What are you doing?" Genji asked. Suddenly, Baymax tilted over and fell off the bridge. "Oh no! No, no, no, no, no! Whoa, Baymax!" Hiro and Genji cried. But then, Baymax reactivated his thrusters and flew them along the water back towards the city. "Yes! Whoo!" Hiro cheered. "This is awesome!" Genji cheered. As they reached the city, they flew past the various buildings throughout the city, enjoying the views. They then flew alongside a train before entering a tunnel in front of it. Hiro waved at the train driver before Baymax boosted ahead. After exiting the tunnel, Baymax flew up the side of a building, circling it. Hiro looked at his reflection as they continued circling the building. As they flew up, Baymax traced his hand up a wire that connected one of the airborne fans. As they reached the fan, they flew past every other fan in a straight line. "Yes! Whoo-hoo!" Hiro cheered as they continued to fly.
Later, Hiro, Genji and Baymax sat on top of one of the fans, watching the sunset. Baymax, noticing Hiro and Genji gently wagging their feet, mimicked their movements. "Wow. That was…that was…" Hiro tried to say, not being able to find the word. "Sick." Baymax said, choosing it for him. "It is just an expression." "Yeah. That's right, buddy." Hiro said. They continued to watch the sunset. "I am never taking the bus again." Hiro said. "Yeah, me neither. And once we find Kaiya, we've got to show her this." Genji said. "Your emotional states have improved. I can deactivate if you say you are satisfied with your care." Baymax said. "What? No, we don't want you to deactivate." Hiro said. "Yeah, we still need to find Yokai and Kijo." Genji said. "So, fire up that super sensor." Hiro said. Baymax stood up and started scanning the whole city, looking for any match to Yokai and Kijo's health stats. "Functionality improved. 1,000% increase in range." He said. After seconds of scanning, his sensor gave off a beep. "I have found a match…on that island." He said, pointing towards an island outside the city.
Later, after picking up the team, they flew through the city. Gogo and Honey Lemon sat beside Hiro, while Wasabi and Fred were in Baymax's hands. Genji swung on a web attached to Baymax's chasse. Metanite carried Seer Shot and Hornet carried Proud Dagger by his tunic with surprising strength. "Killer view." Gogo said. "Yeah. If I…if I wasn't terrified of heights, I'd probably love this. But I'm terrified of heights, so I don't love it." Wasabi said with a whimper. As they were just leaving the city, Gogo looked at Hiro, having a need to ask him something. "Say, Hiro, maybe after this is all over, maybe we could…go for a flight together with Baymax? Just the 2 of us?" She asked, feeling a little flustered. "Uh…sure. I would love that." Hiro said, feeling a bit flustered himself.
Wow! How was that?! Hiro and Genji have suited their friends into their own superhero suits, equipped with their own special tech powers. And after a test flight with Baymax in his new armor, they've located Yokai and Kijo on an island outside the city. But what will they find when they get to the island? Will they uncover the secret to the mystery? Leave a review if you want.
