Only For Her

Klaus pressed his face into the pillow and roared. Caroline had left last night, and would be back in 2 hours, but he missed her already. She had gone on a girlie trip with Bonnie, Elena and Hayley and they didn't tell him where they were going. He was already distressed over whether she would be safe, and how could he protect her if she didn't tell him where she was? He wanted her next to him, to smell her strawberry and vanilla shampoo and to hear her relaxed breathing, warm and safe in his arms. He roared again. He wanted to run and run until she came back and then kiss her until they fell asleep. Unfortunately, the doorbell rang. Repeatedly. He thundered downstairs with intent to kill whoever rang that door. It was Damon.

"Elena isn't answering my calls," he said, pushing past Klaus and slumping onto a chair. The doorbell rang again. Klaus cursed under his breath. It was Elijah.

"I will be here when they arrive."

He pushed past Klaus and sat down on the chair next to Damon. They nodded at each other. The doorbell rang again. Klaus roared.

"I swear to god, if one more…" he never finished, because Enzo barged past him, saying the same as Damon.

"Bonnie's not answering the phone."

"DID YOU GUYS NOT READ THE MESSAGE? THEY HAVE THEIR PHONES OFF!" bellowed Klaus, his face distorted in anger. "NOW GET OUT!"

Elijah rolled his eyes.

"Ooohhh!" Damon and Enzo gasped in unison. They took one look at Klaus's face and vamped away. Elijah stayed, a calming hand on his younger brother's shoulder.

Klaus stopped trembling and started to pace. "Their phones are off but what if they are actually in trouble?" he stressed.

"Niklaus, we would know if they were in trouble. Relax. They will be home very soon, brother, and we shall see that they remain as before. Unscathed," Elijah responded, his calmness agitating the fearful Klaus.

Klaus breathed in, his features relaxing. He nodded his head and dropped into a loveseat beside the huge TV.

Klaus had bought the biggest house he could find on the outskirts of Mystic Falls, as Caroline wished to be close to home. It was practically a palace, and it was arranged with care by Caroline, with the furniture she chose. Naturally, it was the most expensive in America. He gave a small smile. Then, he heard the screech of speeding wheels. He jumped up and ran to the door, his excitement barely contained. The big white Range Rover zoomed up the long, winding driveway and Klaus and Elijah stood shoulder to shoulder in front of the house. The four girls practically fell out of the car, giggling and whispering. Elena picked up Bonnie and whooshed away to find Enzo and Damon. Klaus let out a sigh of relief as he saw that Caroline remained in perfect condition. Hayley ran into Elijah's waiting arms, whilst Caroline lugged all their bags.

"May I?" asked Klaus, relieving Caroline of the many bags and offering her his arm.

"You may," she laughed, holding onto it.

Caroline and Klaus's relationship had been very messy. After Klaus had promised to leave and never come back, he only managed 4 days before missing Caroline. He had called her a few times, but she never answered and didn't listen to his messages. He didn't know, but she was fixing her relationship with Tyler after the Incident In The Woods, as she calls it. Klaus felt abandoned and angry at himself, so he went on a killing spree and, without realising, ended up in Mystic Falls. Caroline, upset and annoyed, had decided to get over him, but when she saw him again she fell head first. He had never got over her so they were perfect. Everything was perfect. Then Tyler returned. He attacked Caroline out of sheer anger and bit her on the neck. Klaus already hated Tyler for abandoning Caroline after the Incident, and so he was very prepared to kill him. Fortunately for some, Elijah arrived just then and stopped him, forcing him to see it from Tyler's point of view. Tyler himself felt guilty and ashamed, and in anger he ran away to the mountains. Klaus ran to save Caroline but it was too late. She died in his arms as he bit into himself. Frantically, he poured the blood down her throat, but she didn't wake. Two days later, in her bed, after being fed more of Klaus's blood, Caroline slowly awoke. There beside her, Klaus vowed to never leave her side again and to marry her. Caroline said yes, and a few months later they married and moved in together. Nowadays, Klaus does leave her side occasionally, and Tyler hasn't returned.

Elijah and Hayley went to their room in the house and Klaus and Caroline jumped into the loveseat.

"Klaus!" she giggled as he adjusted her onto his lap. "I have to work! And unpack!"

"Later, later. I was thinking over the weekend. Let's play a game. It's called, Imaginary Future."

"I used to play this with Elena and Bonnie! Okay! You go first."

Klaus thought for a moment, his eyebrows pushed together. Caroline slowly pushed them apart, massaging his temples. "I would like a dog. Maybe a German Shepherd. Actually two dogs. Two German Shepherds. What about you, love?"

"I would want 3 dogs of all different breeds. 2 boys and 1 girl. I would want a son, and then 5 years later I would want a girl, and 4 years after I want another girl. They would be werewolves, and when they get to a suitable age you can make them hybrids. Your family can live with us too. After the kids reach, maybe 15, and we have told them everything, we can leave, go to England for a couple of centuries. Then come back, travel America, every 50 years or so we can circulate back here. And then everyone can come. Rebekah could get married, Kol could, Finn can't. Obviously. Hayley might be able to have Elijah's kid. I heard of it happening. And Rebekah can help raise ours."

"Sounds like you've got it all planned out." Klaus sounded annoyed.

Caroline swallowed the lump in her throat, pushing back the tears.

"Just a stupid fantasy. None of it's gonna happen. We'll have to leave in 10 years anyway. No dogs because blood and wolf, Alpha, stuff. No children, obviously, and even if Hayley has a kid, it won't be ours."

A tear dropped down her cheek. Klaus went to put his arms around her but she had vamped away. He growled. This was his fault. He didn't know how, but it was. And he would give her what she wanted.
