I'm rewriting this story because I wasn't very happy with it. The first few chapters won't be too different from what they were but there will be some changes that will definitely impact what will happen in the story later on. This is still a story about a girl from our world wishing to be in the TVD world and that this girl becomes a siphoner (and she also doesn't remember being anyone but the character she invented). But Blair is now also an untriggered werewolf. This means that, if she becomes a vampire, she will become a tribrid (though different from Hope). I was always fascinated by this idea so here it is.
Warning: slight Stefan/Blair, Klaus/Blair, Elijah/Blair and Kol/Blair. Mostly just vibes and a little flirting with these last three (nothing will actually happen). Also, some Silas/Blair as well (not really, just vibes as well here; the reason why should be pretty obvious in the prologue). With Stefan, some small scenes between them at the beginning because Stefan is attracted to her, even while being interested in Elena. But Damon/Blair is the main focus and the endgame couple and Blair and Damon will only be truly interested in each other once they get together (but they're both very sexual creatures, so there will be some flirting and suggestive comments about other people, but that's all).
I hope you like this story. Tell me what you think!
Summary: Blair makes a wish and she ends up in the vampire diaries world as Blair Gilbert, in the place of Jeremy Gilbert. She also has no idea she was anyone other than Blair Gilbert. She's a witch, but not a normal witch. She's a siphoner. But that's not all. Grayson and John Gilbert were half-brothers and Grayson's mother came from a bloodline of werewolves, the Carsons. So she's also an untriggered werewolf, with the potential to become a tribrid one day. Story starts in the pilot episode. Damon/OC.
Prologue
Sometimes–when she had nothing better to do–Blair liked to imagine ways in which she could change her favorite tv shows, movies or books. There was nothing particularly wrong with them (except for the last season of Game of Thrones, of course, which was despised by everyone with a brain and common sense), but she enjoyed the idea of the what if.
One of her favorite TV shows was the Vampire Diaries. It had its fair share of problems, no doubt, especially in the later seasons, but it remained–at least, in her opinion–one of the best of its genre (not to the level of Buffy, the Vampire Slayer, of course, but which was?). It was certainly iconic.
What Blair liked best was the vast and varied world they had created, with its own set of rules and lore. Well, and Damon, obviously. She loved the Originals–well, not Finn, but definitely all the others–but her favorite character has always been and will always be Damon.
While Blair had loved the relationship between Damon and Elena, sometimes she wondered what would have happened if Damon had fallen for someone else instead. Especially since Damon had spent 3 entire seasons pining after Elena while she was with his brother. It was miserable watching him being so...well, miserable. What would have happened if, instead, Damon had fallen for another girl and not Elena?
But that wasn't all. Since she was pathetic like that, she had actually written a list of the things she would change or add to the Vampire Diaries.
She liked to imagine what it would be like to be a part of that world, spending hours thinking about what kind of character she would be. Like in a video game–what would her avatar be like and look like?
Her appearance, first of all. Her avatar couldn't look like herself. No, her avatar would look like Taylor Hill, but with bigger boobs, like Sophie Mudd, and very vivid jade green eyes, though perhaps not as tall – perhaps 5 feet 7 instead of 5 feet 10.
Her name would be Blair, like her own name. But what about her surname?
She liked the idea of Blair being from one of the founding and she also liked the idea of Blair being related to Elena. Perhaps as a sister, maybe even in Jeremy's place. However, she wanted Blair to be in the same year as Elena, Bonnie and Caroline, as a junior in high school, not two years younger than them like Jeremy was. Perhaps, since there was already a minor character called Blair Fell, Blair could replace that character. However her name would be Blair Gilbert, sister of Elena Gilbert but trueborn daughter of Miranda and Grayson Gilbert.
But, to be possible for Blair Gilbert to be in the same grade as Elena, she needed to be born at the end of 1991.
Blair could be born in October 1991, and Elena in August 1992, ten months later. Let's say that, since Blair and Elena were so close in age, the Gilberts had decided to wait a little for Blair to start school so she and Elena could be in the same grade.
She also wanted Blair Gilbert to be the witch of the story, instead of Bonnie. However, she wouldn't be a normal witch–she would be a siphoner and part of the Gemini Coven.
The only way it'd be possible for Blair to be a Gemini witch, but not Elena, the witches would have to be in Miranda's bloodline. Therefore, both Miranda and Jenna would have to be witches. But since there was already a witch in canon from the Gemini Coven, she decided that Jo would be Miranda's sister and not Jenna.
Therefore, Miranda Gilbert would be born a Parker and a witch. She, and Jo and Kai, would be half-siblings though, with Miranda, and Jo and Kai, having different mothers but the same father (Joshua Parker).
The Blackwells (the name of Miranda's family of witches from her mother's side) could replace the Bennetts in canon, as the old bloodline of witches. Blackwell blood would be the blood used to create the ascendants and the prison worlds, but Parker blood would be the one necessary to awake Silas.
Consequently, Emily wouldn't be a Bennett anymore but Emily Blackwell instead–she imagined this Emily to look like Ruth Wilson. For the rest, she would be the same character as she was in canon, 'friendship' with Katherine included.
Miranda wouldn't be present during the massacre since she'd already be living in Mystic Falls with her husband and children by then. Her mother would originally be from Mystic Falls and Miranda would leave Oregon to live with her mother in Mystic Falls after her mother (Grace Blackwell)'s divorce from her father.
In Mystic Falls she would meet and fall in love with Grayson Gilbert, whom she would eventually marry.
After the massacre Jo would give up her magic (putting it inside a teddy bear and leave it in Oregon like in canon) and move to Mystic Falls to live with her sister. She would still become a doctor, she would still attend college in Whitmore and then she would start working at the hospital in Mystic Falls, taking the name Jo Laughlin (Laughlin being her mother's maiden name).
Jo would still be a witch, but in name only, since she wouldn't really practice any magic for a long time. But eventually she would realize that her magic could be useful to protect the people that she loves. She wouldn't die like Jenna did in canon. In fact, she would basically replace the role that Meredith Fell had in canon. And she and Alaric would get their happy ending.
Miranda would be the one to imprison Mikael, instead of Abby Bennett, after that giving up on magic altogether as well because of the effect wielding so much dark magic had had on her.
Matt would be the supernatural hunter–one of the Five–since Jeremy wouldn't be present in the story anymore. Perhaps he and Bonnie could have a thing for a while, like Bonnie and Jeremy did in canon–although Bonnie's endgame would be Enzo.
Obviously, the Bennets wouldn't be a bloodline of witches anymore. Bonnie could be another type of supernatural creature though. A banshee, perhaps, similar to Lydia Martin in Teen Wolf. She would be the one able to see ghosts since Jeremy wouldn't be present in the story. A near-death experience would be necessary to awaken her powers. Perhaps, she could be the one bitten by Damon during the party at the Falls and not Vicki.
But, since she always wondered what would happen if a siphoner would be born in a werewolf bloodline, she decided that Grayson and John Gilbert would be half-brothers, with the same father but a different mother. Grayson's mother - Grayson's father's first wife - would come from a line of werewolves called Carson. There was a character called Sue Carson in the books, so she decided to use that surname for Blair's paternal grandmother. Blair's paternal grandmother's name would be Grace Carson Gilbert. The Carsons would be like the Lockwoods, with the Carson bloodline carrying the werewolf gene.
Grayson would know about the werewolf curse in his family, reason why he would decide against becoming a surgeon (for fear of triggering his curse), choosing instead to be a family doctor in Mystic Falls. Maybe Grayson would join the Augustine for a little while, during his studies at Whitmore, but then he would leave that world behind and just dedicate himself to be a family doctor, a husband and a father. Until Mikael and one of his compelled vampire minions came looking for Elena. Grayson, after his wife had gotten rid of Mikael, would spend years 'experimenting' on the other vampire and the uses of vampire blood until John would find out what his brother was up to and he would stake his subject, not approving of Grayson's methods. That would lead to a falling out between them and would prompt John to leave Mystic Falls for good - until he would return briefly for his brother's funeral and then in season1.
The Gilbert rings would be useless on Grayson, or to his two daughters because both supernatural, so he would leave both to John, and John would keep one while giving the other to Isobel like in canon (and, like in canon, Isobel would give it to Alaric).
Blair would therefore be a siphoner and an untriggered werewolf. Someone like that, if turned into a vampire, could become a tribrid technically, even though different from Hope.
Perhaps, Blair could also be born a doppelgänger, like Elena and Stefan. Let's say that she's the doppelgänger of Qetsiyah, the witch that created the Elixir of Immortality. Perhaps Qetsiyah was born a siphoner as well – the first siphoner. Like in canon, she was engaged to Silas and planned on spending eternity with him. She took the Elixir she had created, not knowing yet that Silas planned on sharing it with Amara – her friend and handmaiden, someone who had no magical powers – so that – unlike in canon – the three of them could spend eternity together. Silas wanted them both. When Qetsiyah found out, she was furious, hurt and betrayed. She would retain her ability to use magic due to her being a siphoner so she used her powers to punish them both, making Amara the anchor to the Other Side (and making Silas believed that she had killed Amara) and turning Silas to stone, burying him with the cure. So, instead of the doppelgangers of Silas and Amara being drawn to each other due to the curse, it's now the doppelgangers of Amara and Qetsiyah being drawn to Silas' doppelganger and the Silas doppelganger being drawn to both.
Due to her being a doppelgänger, she wouldn't need to turn with Klaus' blood but she would still need to drink Elena's blood (human doppelgänger blood) to complete the transition. Her doppelgänger blood, having natural binding properties, in addition to human doppelgänger blood (Elena's blood), would be enough to bind all three sides of herself (the witch, vampire and werewolf side) without killing her and without the need to turn exclusively with Klaus' blood. So, she could technically become a vampire and transition with Elena's blood before becoming a werewolf and then turn into a true tribrid if she kills someone, triggering the werewolf curse (like Klaus had done). Or she could first trigger the werewolf curse while still human and then turn into a vampire with any vampire blood and Elena's blood to complete the transition.
If she were to turn with Klaus' blood, she wouldn't be sired to him: the only reason the hybrids are sired to him is because they are grateful to him for turning them so they won't be forced to turn at every full moon. But Blair, being also a witch, would be able to find a way to not have to turn at every full moon once she triggers her curse and becomes a werewolf as well. Perhaps there's the spell for the moonlight amulets (the ones that appear in the Originals) in one of the grimoires that belonged to her family. This way she wouldn't feel any gratitude towards Klaus for turning her and, therefore, she wouldn't be sired to him.
Blair would be aware of the fact that she's a witch and an untriggered werewolf or that her father was one. Her parents would make her aware of it, to warn her to be careful (especially about not killing someone accidentally, like during a car accident) and they would get her under medication for her aggression and anger issues (due to her werewolf side) as a child, but Blair would get better as a teenager, improving her behaviour through many sports and even yoga, and also while keeping busy with many extra-curricular activities.
Blair would be unaware that she's a doppelgänger though, just like Stefan is unaware of his status as doppelgänger of Silas. She can siphon herself but she thinks she can siphon herself due to her status as an untriggered werewolf and not because she's also a doppelgänger.
Damon would need a Blackwell witch specifically to open the tomb, not just any witch. So, he would enlist her help. But Blair wouldn't know how to open the tomb only with the crystal so she would need to find Emily's grimoire and use the crystal as a source of power. (She could technically open the tomb by just siphoning the spell that kept the tomb locked but she would decide against doing that because she wouldn't want to free all the other vampires in the tomb).
Damon, in exchange, would swear to leave the people Blair cared about alone; Blair would literally make him a list of the people that would be off-limits: her sister, her aunt, Caroline, Caroline's mum (unless directly threatening him), Bonnie, Tyler, Matt and Matt's sister Vicki (specifically because she's Matt's sister and not because Blair cares about her). And, of course, Blair would also want to get her hands on Emily's grimoire once they find it.
Damon would also swear not to feed or kill in town unless absolutely necessary.
Also, what if the comet doesn't pass over Mystic Falls until December instead of September of 2009? Enough time for Blair and Damon to get ahold of the Crystal and then find Emily's grimoire while getting to know each other in the meantime. Damon would still make his presence known in town in September because of Stefan, to torment Stefan.
Blair would be the opposite of 'good girl' Elena. She would be considered a troublemaker while younger (werewolf-gene related-problems) and then a party girl while a teenager. She would be the most popular girl in school, a stereotypical Queen Bee, captain of the cheerleading squad, mean and spoiled, and promiscuous as well, with a high sex drive but reluctant to form true attachments.
She and Elena would be the ones having a rivalry going on and not Elena and Caroline. In fact, Caroline would be Blair's best friend while Bonnie would be Elena's best friend like in canon. Blair would love to steal what Elena has, especially boys Elena would be interested in. She wouldn't be all bad, though, obviously. She would be extremely loyal (in her own way) and protective of the people she'd care about, and brave, tenacious, witty, clever and perceptive as well.
Her mother Miranda would be the one to teach Blair magic–but they would keep it secret from Elena, who would remain oblivious to the supernatural world. Blair would be aware of vampires as well. In fact, she would be fascinated by history and she would love to read the Gilberts' journals, especially the ones about the 1860's. So she would know about the Salvatore brothers and Katherine Pierce (though she wouldn't know about the tomb because only Emily and Damon would be aware of it). She also wouldn't know about Elena being the doppelgänger.
Miranda would be a little put out by the fact that Blair was born a siphoner, just like Kai, but she would remind herself that Blair is nothing like Kai and that Blair was her daughter and Miranda loved her.
There were other things she had written, three whole pages of them, in fact. Blair shook her head. What was the point though? The thing she wanted most after coming up with such a list would be to become her avatar–Blair Gilbert herself.
Though Blair wouldn't want to remember being anyone other than Blair Gilbert; she wouldn't want to remember that the life she would be living as Blair Gilbert was, in truth, a TV show. She wouldn't want to know what would happen before it happened. Where would be the fun in that?
Such a thing wasn't possible, however. She decided, therefore, to banish the thought from her mind.
Blair got ready for bed, not noticing the shooting star passing through the night sky outside her window. She went to sleep, not knowing everything would be different for her tomorrow–and unable to remember any of it.
