Chapter 3 The Tiger's tale?

For the next few days Izuku continued his task, spending every waking moment he could to clean up the beach. From dawn to dusk, Izuku would wake up, eat breakfast and then rush over to the beach to start cleaning up. He worked tirelessly every day almost at a maddening pace. It very quickly started to worry his parents, especially after Izuku told the story of how he met Fei.

Izuku's father Hisashi watched as Izuku worked, "Izuku, would you like any help."

"No dad, i got to do this myself," as Izuku struggled to lift a box of discarded cans. "I have to prove to Mr. Wangfang that I can be his student."

"Izuku, listen to me, this is crazy, you're seven years old and there's no way a seven year old can clear this entire beach in a month." said Hisashi pointing out the obvious. "A grown man maybe but not a child."

"I know that dad, I know" said Izuku as he summoned all his strength to lift the box, "But I have to try." as he successfully lifted the box and started to walk it off the beach.

"I'd say you've already done more than that." The midoriya's turned to see Fei walking towards them, this time wearing a traditional white chinese martial arts outfit with black pants. "Hello Izuku and you must be his father, correct."

"Hello, Mr. Wangfang." greeted Izuku while putting down the box of cans.

"Hello Izuku but you can just call me Fei for now."

Hisashi eye'd the man warly, looking at him up and down and noticing his features, "Yes, my name is Hisashi Midoriya and I'm Izuku's father."

"Greetings," said Fei trying to be nervous, "This must be odd meeting a grown man who agreed to train your child."

"That's one way of putting it." admitted Hisashi who was also nervous but he was more skeptical than anything else. "Are you really quirkless?"

"I am, I'm 100 percent quirkless," said Fei as he bent down and grabbed a can from the box, he tossed the can in the air and quickly swiped his hand around the can, "But I assure you my skills are 100 percent real."

As the can hit the ground it split into six separate pieces. "What the!" shouted Hisashi as his jaw dropped at the sight.

Izuku reached down and grabbed one of the pieces, "You cut the can cleanly with just two fingers."

"You saw I only used two fingers!" said Fei genuinely surprised, 'This kid has better kinetic vision than I thought.'

Hisashi looked at the piece, "How did you do this without a quirk?"

"Is it really that surprising," asked Fei, "Back in the late 20th century a man participating in the running of the bulls in Spain used the same technique to bring down a bull and i don't know if you've ever seen a bull but their muscles are far thicker than that can."

"Whoa," said Izuku as he looked at the can in amazement while also looking at his own fingers wondering if he could do that and the look didn't go unknowest by the adults.

Hisashi then turned to Fei, "Do you plan to teach my son things like this?"

"If that is his wish and he puts in the elbow grease for it." said Fei.

Hisashi looked at Fei in a neutral expression, "Do you even want to teach my son martial arts, you don't look exactly too enthusiastic about taking a student, is that why you asked him to do an impossible task of cleaning this beach?"

Izuku looked up, a little worried at Fei who sighed, "Well to be honest the whole beach clean up was the best idea I could think of at the time and by how much your son has been cleaning up each day he might actually make that one month deadline. To be honest I was expecting him to give up on the task in a day or two, I didn't think he would make it a whole week. Clearly his drive to become a hero is greater than…"

Izuku and Hisashi looked at each other for a moment, "Greater than what?" asked Izuku.

Fei looked hesitant but gave them a solid look, "Greater than my revenge."

Hisashi raised an eyebrow, "Your revenge?"

"Yes, my desire for revenge brought me down this path of strength," he admitted before he looked down at Izuku, "but maybe Izuku here can do right by this and be the one the grandmaster was hoping for."

"Huh?" both Midoriya's looked confused at what Fei was saying.

Fei scratched the back of his head and laughed, "Sorry I guess I'm getting ahead of myself. Maybe we should move this somewhere to talk."

Hisashi nodded, "Sure, there's a tea shop not too far from here, I'll call my wife and have her meet us there."

~o~

Soon the three of them met up with the beautiful Inko Midoriya, Fei had to mentally check himself not to hit on the woman, which wasn't hard as his goal was a faithful apprentice. 'Willing subjects are far better than those who need to be strong-armed into coercion.' Thought Fei as the waitress brought their order of tea at their table. "Thank you," said Fei as he took his cup of tea and took a sip, 'I need to play my cards right here, they brought me to a busy tea house that is full of customers and there's even a police box down the street, if anything happens heroes will be here in seconds. Well I can't blame them for meeting a stranger for the first time, one that might decide the fate of their son. So I need to make sure I leave a good impression.' Fei put down his tea. "Wow this is some good tea."

"Yeah my friend Mitsuki was the one that introduced me to this place," said Inko with a cheerful tone, "but that aside, are you really quirkless?"

"Absolutely." said Fei with a bright smile.

"And you can teach Izuku how to be a hero?"

"I wouldn't say that, I'm not a hero, I'm a martial artist, so I can at least teach Izuku ways to get the upper hand on those who have quirks and even show him how to become stronger than them."

Inko hummed at the thought, "I'm sorry I just find that a little hard to believe."

"Don't worry, that's completely fair."

Izuku then got an idea, "Well why don't you show my mom one of your moves."

"Hmm, okay." said Fei as he took out a pen and wrote something down on his napkin and slide it over to the Midoriyas facedown. "I think this should do."

"Huh?" said Inko as she took the napkin and read what was written, "'Look at the entrance' what does-HUH?" all of the Midoriya's mouths dropped as Fei vanished from where he was seated. "Where did he?"

"Mom, dad, the entrance," said Izuku as he pointed to the doorway where Fei was standing and waving at them.

"How?" was all that they could say as they saw the man standing on the other side of the tea house before he then turned into a blur and bobbed and weaved between the crowd without letting a single person notice his movements as he made his way back in a second.

"So how was that?" asked Fei as he sat back down.

"You moved across the shop in a split second….and….and….you can teach that to Izuku….you can make his dreams come true." said Inko as hope began to fill her voice. For a while she felt despair that she couldn't give her child but this man in front of her might be able to fix everything.

But her husband still had some questions, "But where did you learn this, if you don't have a quirk then you must have learned this from somewhere and what does this have to do with your revenge?"

"Revenge?" said Inko, confused.

Fei chuckled, "There's no need to worry my revenge no longer exists, it drove me for over ten years but there's no need for it anymore."

"What do you mean," asked Izuku who was curioused. "Are you trying to hide something?"

Fei slightly shocked his head, "No I have nothing to hide, I guess I should tell you my tale or atleast the quicker version or else we might be here for quite awhile." He then took a sip of his tea as he remembered the script, "Now then I suppose I should start with the grand master, about forty years ago, long before I was a born a martial artist with a quirk that allowed him to read other people's movements made a realization after watching and participating in fights, people were becoming stronger, he noticed that people who had no physical enhancement quirks were now faster and stronger than before quirks even existed, but everytime he tried to talk to someone about it they would always chalk it up to quirks and not due to a person's natural abilities. So to prove that humans have gotten stronger he and several other martial arts masters went around and asked several young quirkless kids if they would like to learn martial arts to become strong and out of the hundred they asked only twelve accepted, those twelve were then dubbed the zodiacs."

"Zodiacs," said Izuku, "Were you one of the zodiacs?"

"No, but my master was, he was Tiger zodiac, he and the others trained for years and eventually they attained power that was thought to be impossible. They broke every Olympic record, and did feats that were only thought to be possible in movies." Fei paused then for a moment as a thought crossed his mind, "And no I'm not talking about anything like energy blasts or the ability to fly."

"I wasn't thinking about that." said Izuku as he thought that comment was aimed at him as his parents blushed as they were the ones who had that idea.

"Anyway as the years went on they gained incredible power and some were corrupted by it, you see each of the zodiacs didn't have good childhoods many of them were actually orphans who were tossed out by their families or bullied by others, they wanted revenge and it split us all apart. Those who wanted revenge killed the GrandMaster, and some of the other Zodiacs, which left those with justice in their hearts to pursue the other before they got their revenge on those bullies. My father was one of those bullies."

"Your father was a bad guy?" asked Izuku.

Fei gave a slow nod, "He wasn't a villain but yes he wasn't a kind man, he was born with a powerful quirk that allowed him manipulate the earth itself, when he was young he used his quirk to bully a boy that would become the Ram zodiac and years later that man would come back for revenge." Fei tightened his fist trying to pretend he was remembering a painful memory.

When they bought it, Inko cleared her throat "Mr. Wangfang if you don't want to talk about then…"

"No, it's fine," said Fei, "My story starts when I was pronounced quirkless at the age of five, my father was furious and when I turned six he kicked me out and I had live in the alley down the street with my mother and siblings coming and giving me food and anything else I would need to survive, I lived like that for the next two months before the Ram arrived." The Midoriya's looked nervous as they all realized where this tale was headed. "The massive use of my father's quirk alerted me and I rushed back home only to witness the outcome of a one sided battle, no matter how much my father tried to twist and manipulate the earth, nothing could stop that man. My father would put up wall after wall and that man would bash through all of them, the man even yelled he picked the Ram as his title for that very reason. He was able to defeat and toy with my father like it was nothing, at this point my mother and siblings tried to use their quirks to help but unlike my father the man made quick work of each of them and almost did the same for me. Even though at the time I hated my father for throwing me out, I didn't want him or my family dead, so as a dumb kid with no skill or combat experience tried to do something, but luckily before he could kill me the tiger came to save me."

"Tiger." said Izuku as he thought of a tiger themed hero.

"Your mentor." said Hisahsi, "He was the one that taught you martial arts."

"Yes he was," as Fei continued his story, "He is one of the greatest fighters in the world, I can only describe the fight between him and the ram as a clash of the titans, it was incredible, they both fought to the doors of death. In the end both tried to land a killing blow on the other and for a moment I thought both of them were dead before suddenly the Ram got up and somehow mustered the strength to run away when I wasn't looking. I stayed with the man who would become my master as he was taken to the hospital, I wanted answer and when he had awoken he was surprised to hear the Ram had escaped as he swore his blow was lethal, he then explained the situations with the GrandMaster and the other Zodiacs. I then asked him to train me, which he immediately refused as he believed the other two surviving Zodiacs, the Dragon and Bull would have finished him, but they didn't. The Dragon had defeated the Snake who had sided with the Ram and the Bull was unable to locate the Ram. With this the Tiger gave me all the money he had and told me to find someone to take me in, but fueled by nothing but hate and rage I followed them, for a whole month straight I followed them though the mountains and cities they traveled, I followed them until my master agreed to train me. For over a decade I trained, I trained until my bones broke and my knuckles bleed, I trained with the sole goal in mind to find the Ram and kill him for what he did to my family."

"Did you…. kill him?" asked Inko.

Fei was silent as he looked down at his cup, "No, for he was dead long before I even started my training."

"What?" said Hisashi, speaking on the behalf of the surprised family.

"When I was seventeen, the Bull zodiac gave us a call and said a detective friend of his had found the Ram and that he was already dead and his body was in my hometown. My master was right, his blow was lethal, they had found the Rams body in the back of the abandoned restaurant in my own neighborhood. From what the detective could deduce is that the Ram looked for a place to hide but with his wounds it only quickened his death and even though the restaurant was abandoned, the kitchen's freezer was still in good condition and kept his body pretty well preserved, which is where they found him after the land the building was on was finally sold after the last owner finally sold before he passed away from old age, the restaurant belonged to a relative so even though it was closed down years ago no one touched it. Next to him was his phone and the last text message was to the Snake zodiac, asking for help but the Dragon had already gotten to the Snake. With no one to come and help, Ram had died and my revenge became pointless."

"What did you do then?" asked Izuku who was currently absorbing every word of the story.

"Well, I got quite depressed, after ten long years, all my training felt pointless and I spent the next few days not really doing anything until my Master grabbed me and dragged me to a small martial arts tournament in the outskirts of China, I won pretty easily and got quite a bit of cash, though my Master got even more for betting on me, as a no named fighter not many people had faith I would win. My master then gave me the money and told me to go to school and find my own path in life. I agreed and enrolled at the Hong Kong university of medicine."

"HKU?" said Hisashi, and came to a conclusion, "Wait, are you a doctor?"

Fei blinked for a moment, "Oh I guess I haven't mention that yet," as he rummaged through his pocket and took out a wallet, opening it and showing his medical license, "With all my martial arts training I became intrigued by the human body so it all came quite natural to me." said Fei as he showed off the license to practice medicine in China, as he did he heard the light sound of tapping on a screen. 'So he's copying the characters,' Thought Fei as he confirmed his suspensions that Hisashi Midoriya was indeed writing everything he was saying down on his phone under the table, 'Judging by the sudden change in his speed hit physically writing the Chinese characters on his phone, most likely to confirm the written characters. He's quite the paranoid one isn't he, I might have to take Hado's idea and kill him, but that can wait.' Fei then put his wallet down, "Anyway after college I returned to my master's home where he's been doing a few odd jobs here and there, he's currently trying to be a sculptor."

"A sculptor?" said Hisashi, a little surprised.

"Yes, he's quite good, actually I think I have his card right here," as Fei passed a card over to Hisashi that was in Chinese and English, the English part saying Tiger Sculpting. "His nephew made him a website, you should check out his work, I might be able to get you a good deal."

"Oh wow thank you." said Inko sincerely.

'Looks like she's convinced,' he thought, "After me and my master had a little heart to heart about what to with my life, he suggested I go traveling and so I did, I followed the sun westward all the way around the globe along the way I had some ideas of what to do with my life, maybe open up a clinic or maybe open a pizza restaurant."

'Pizza?' Thought all the Midoriya's but none of them said anything.

"Though during the very end of my globe-trotting adventure I get into a little scrap with reckless drivers and a kid asking me to teach him martial arts."

"That's me!" said the boy as he pointed to himself.

"Yes, Izuku that was you and I will not lie I was hesitate to train you when we first met, the whole reason I went through that training was revenge and before me the Zodiacs did it for power and it ended up destroying them." said Fei with a slight pause, "But now I do want to train you."

"Really?" asked Izuku with stars in his eyes.

"The grand master started this to prove that humans have gotten stronger, that they have evolved outside of just quirks, the Zodiacs it was power, for me it was revenge, maybe...maybe a hero can set this right and shed some light on this mess and put it to better use than we did."

Inko looked over and saw her sons determined face and then gave a warm smile to Fei, "Well Mr. WangFang-"

"Please call me Fei," interjected Fei. "After traveling across the world I've realized how hard my name can be to say."

"Right, Mr. Fei, I think it would be an amazing idea if you taught our son martial arts," said Inko who looked over at her husband for support.

Hisashi looked surprised at first before slowly looking over at the martial artist. 'Something's not right here' he thought as he knew his wife was looking at him, 'I know Inko, I feel guilty too that our son was born without a quirk, but my gut is telling me something is off here.'

Fei didn't need to read the man's mind to tell that he didn't trust him, 'Damn I was hoping for more of an inner asshole from him, looks like I'm going to need to play few more cards on the table but which ones...hmmm, that could work.' As Fei finished his strategy he cleared his throat and raised a hand, "Now hold on a minute, I'm not expecting an answer right away, especially since we haven't talked about the some issues that we need to consider."

"What do you mean?" asked Inko.

"Well for starters I want to say I don't want any form of payment, I have my living expenses covered," said Fei which was a sigh of relief for Inko, "But the bigger part will be school or the lack thereof."

"Lack thereof...are you saying you want Izuku to drop out of school?" asked Inko.

"And go with you." said Hisashi in a slightly heated tone.

"No, I have no intention of taking him away from you or even asking you to move," said Fei in a calm tone, "But I never went to public school, nor my master or the other Zodiacs, to achieve our level of strength required a lot of time and effort, and I personally don't believe he would be able to compete with others if he had to divide his time between a public school and martial arts. I personally was self taught by my master and his friends, I think they did a good job judging how I passed my university exam on the first try."

"Homeschool," Hisashi hummed as he thought of this new information, 'That was something me and Inko were already talking about, Izuku had come home quite often with bruises and burns but none of the teachers had reported anything, not much of a surprise with how much society looks down at those who don't have quirks, they don't care.' He then looked at the man in front of him, 'And I doubt this man cares either...' he then made the mistake of looking down at his son, 'But he might be able to change my son's bleak future as a parent. I should at least consider this.' Hisashi put on his best business face, "Mr. Wangfang, would you allow us to please talk this over before we give you an answer?"

"What?" sputtered Inko out of surprise and made Izuku worried.

"That's perfectly fine," said Fei with a warm smile that hide his annoyed anger from sight, "I expected as much in the first place, all I ask is that in the meantime you let Izuku continue his exercise cleaning the beach."

"That's fine."

"Dad." as Izuku got his father's attention as his pleading eyes' showed how much he wanted this.

"Izuku, I know you want to become a hero and this is an incredible opportunity, but this is a big decision, one that I feel we need to discuss as a family." explained Hisashi, his words making Inko nod in agreement.

"Don't worry, Izuku." said Fei, "You're father has the right idea, even though I don't have kids myself I can understand his worries..." Fei then blinked for a second as his face became one of thought, which was fake as he already had an idea of his next few steps. "and I...might have a solution for one of those worries."

"Huh?" as the Midoriya family blinked.

"I'm going to make a few phone calls, I might know someone who can help us out," as he took out his phone, "Here let's exchange phone numbers and we can talk later."

"Okay." said Inko as she and her husband took out their phones and exchanged numbers.

"Well then, I will leave you all to think about everything, Izuku keep up the good work cleaning that trash and we'll be in touch." said Fei waving at the Midoriya's.

~o~

"That was the biggest load of horse shit I have ever heard come from your mouth." said Hedeki as Fei entered the car.

"Not all of it was a lie, humans have gotten stronger, I wouldn't have been able to escape so early if I wasn't built by today's standards." said Fei, "So how much did you hear?"

"All of it, if the boy is as much of a diamond in the rough as you say then he must be someone I pay attention to. Also you might be happy to know I have an assassin in town, give the order and he can have the parents killed."

Fei paused for a second, "Remind me what does Hisashi do again?"

Hedeki raised an eyebrow, "The father? Uh...let's see here, he usually works overseas for Fujima Shipping, small office work, why?"

"Get that man a promotion so he stays in Japan and call off the assassin."

"Your reason?"

"Hisashi has impressed me," said Fei, which surprised Hideki.

"Really because I could have sworn you wanted to rip out his spine with your own bare hands."

"Oh don't get me wrong, I was very close to killing him, but his instincts may prove useful on the business side of things." explained Fei as he then took out his phone and opened up a list, "I've also decided on someone who I want to use for Izuku." he selected a file and then passed it over to Hideki.

Hideki quickly read the file before slowly turning towards Fei, "The person who made this recommendation says 'That they're quirk is very useful but the user can be a pain in the ass.' Is that really someone you want helping your pet?"

"Yes, because it will make my reaction authentic, I've never met this person before and they don't work for us, so it should help sell the fact I want to help Izuku, tell the one who scouted them to get me a full run down on them."

"You got it." Said Hideki as he began typing on his laptop, "By the way, Fei, why did Nejire suddenly say that I adopted a Corgi and a Newfoundland for her?"

Fei turned away, "I haven't the faintest idea."

"At least look me in the eye when you try to bullshit me," said an angry Hideki.

"Oh relax, hey how about we get some pizza." said Fei

"Sushi."

"What but I want pizza." whined Fei.

"And I'm going to have to deal with dog shit all over my house, so we're getting sushi."
