"well you're not exactly coughing up blood or anything so hopefully it's okay? I don't know how this magic thing works" Daniela spoke.

"honestly me neither" Mira shrugged.

"hey can we not tell primo Aaron and tio Andres about this yet? I'm trying to forget about my old life" Mira asked, earning a snort of laughter from Daniela.

"what?" Mira queried.

"you just called Aaron and Andres your primo and tio" Daniela explained with a huge smile.

"oh abuelo, I must've picked it up from you" Mira replied before taking a bite of her arepa and putting it down.

"yeah I won't tell primo and tio" Daniela said, putting a finger to her lips.

"buenos días. hay algo que necesitas saber sobre nuestro pueblo Mira" Andres announced as he entered the room. he was wearing his regular outfit minus his pale pink wing shawl.
good morning. theres something you need to know about our town Mira

"what is it?" Mira asked, now standing in front of the sink and washing the dust off her hand.

"every month our town is raided by bandits" Andres began.

"oh. is anyone ever hurt?" Mira asked.

"only me and Aaron. we've been defending the town for almost two years" Daniela replied as she put down her arepa.

"do you have a plan for raids or anything? like a strategy?" Mira questioned.

"no not really. we mostly just go for it. sometimes we hide and other times we just run up and try to stab them" Aaron replied as he came down the stairs in his normal outfit.

"you need a strategy if you're going to defend your home like that!" Mira complained.

"well what's your idea?" Daniela asked.

Mira said nothing as she went into the living room with a determined expression.

as she found a large piece of paper and pinned it to the wall Andres, Aaron and Daniela came into the room.
as she did that she felt as though things were clicking into place in her mind. her perfect hand-eye coordination, her ability to follow schedules perfectly, her quick movements, her high energy, her subconscious analyzing of peoples strengths and weaknesses. she realized what she was born for. to protect and lead her loved ones in battle.

Mira grabbed a pencil and began drawings doodles of different steps of a plan.

"hey is there a place I can learn to fight?" Mira asked once she was done.

"oh yeah. Senor Jose Gomez. you want to help us?" Daniela asked.

"well. the bandits don't know who I am do they? they've never even seen me" Mira smirked.

"sneak attack!" Aaron cheered.

"yeah!" Mira confirmed while the wall tiles clapped next to her.
thats a great idea!

"thanks Casita" Mira smiled, taking a moment to realize what was happening.

"Casita!?" she cried out as she whipped around to look at the same wall tiles.

the floor tiles tapped in a rhythm only Mirabel could understand.
the one and only!

"how are you here?" Mirabel asked.

Andres, Aaron and Daniela watched as the window blinds slid up and down.

"what are you talking about? the miracle is dead" Mirabel spoke.

the wall tiles rattled as Mirabel gave everyone a confused look.

"the butterfly blessing? what? and what do you mean I'm the 'host'?" Mirabel questioned.

"uh Mira? you good?" Andres asked.

"yeah. apparently this whole time the miracle has been something called the butterfly blessing and I'm its host" Mirabel explained.

"is there any medical concerns to it I should know about in case you need to go to the doctor and they have to know about any medical issues?" Andres queried.

the wall tiles rattled again.
nope. also could you remove the pins on the paper? it hurts

"oh of course! also she said no" Mirabel spoke, removing the pins from the paper and putting it between the tiles.

"wait you mean there are medical concerns or there aren't medical concerns?" Aaron questioned with a suspicious tone.

"not that Casita knows of. are there any side effects?" Mirabel queried.

the wall tiles rattled once more.
check your back when in the bathroom. you cough the same gold dust on the doors. since your planning battle strategies I'll let you figure out the third one by yourself

"wait what's the last one?" Mirabel wondered aloud.

suddenly, Aaron hit his fist onto his palm.

"you're the only one who can understand Casita?" Aaron asked.

"yeah" Mirabel confirmed as Casita gave their own response.
fourth side effect, you can actually understand me

"why don't we teach her knock code too? that way the rest of us can understand her too!" Aaron suggested.

"genius!" Mirabel declared.

"I'm so happy to call you primo!" Daniela cheered, side hugging Aaron.

"so can I continue talking about the plan now?" Mirabel asked.

"go ahead Mira" Andres nodded.

Mirabel wake up

Mira groaned as she rolled onto her side away from the wall.

"hey Mira you bueno? you've never slept in this late. also your face is roja" Daniela asked.

Mira blinked, noticing Danielas blurry figure in her everyday wear.

"ugh...I think I caught a cold. my body doesn't deal with them well and now there's no healing food for me to eat so I have to deal with this for a few days" Mira explained with a dry throat.

"alright I'll bring breakfast up for you" Daniela said before walking away.

"a little help here Daniela? Casita won't let me get out of bed and I need to pee" Mira spoke as Daniela entered the room, the tiles at her feet refusing to let her stand up off her bed. Mira was wearing a pale blue t-shirt dress with a yellow music note embroidered on the shoulder and beige shorts along with her regular green glasses.

"Casita please stop. she just said she needs to pee" Daniela reasoned with the house, to which she complied.

"thanks so much. oh headache" Mira thanked, stumbling when she stood up.

Mira walked past Daniela before sneezing.

"holy lírica!" Daniela suddenly cried, causing Mira to turn her way.

"what's wrong!?" Mira asked.

"your back just glowed! it looked like a butterfly!" Daniela explained.

"oh yeah. side effect of the miracle don't worry" Mira shrugged before heading to the bathroom.
