After a long time, the wagon finally stopped, and I heard Jonas's voice come from outside.
"We're here!" He yelled out to us. Dustin went outside and I followed suit, continued by George and then, finally, the Felyne, although it came out hesitantly. Smiling, Jonas spread his arms. "Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to Bulgord Port!" He announced.
Bulgord Port was a large, wooden city with docks lined up all across the shore, and massive ships as well. The streets were busy with wagons and people, and Felynes littered the streets. Many hunters walked alongside their palico, in some really impressive armor. The outside of the city was surrounded by large, wooden spikes, cannons, and a big-ass wooden wall, at least 20 or 25 meters high. There were shops, trading centers, smithies, quest boards and guild sweethearts, and everything.
As I marveled at the place, Dustin walked past me. "You might wanna pay the Guild Hall a visit," He suggested, "So you can pay off the armor."
"Sure! I-I mean, uh, yeah. Yeah, I'll do that." I said. I didn't want to seem way over eager about it. I began to walk away, and did so for a few seconds, before realizing I had no clue where the Guild Hall was. I looked back and saw that Dustin grinning.
"Need some help there?" He joked.
Sheepishly, I replied. "That'd be nice," I looked down at my feet, embarrassed.
Dustin nodded. "Go straight down that road," he pointed at a road to our right. "And take the third left. Go down that for a while, until you reach a shop called 'Bulgord Armory'. Next to it should be a bridge. Walk over the bridge, and follow the only road to get there." He instructed.
"Straight, straight, left, straight, bridge. Got it." I memorized it in my mind, and yelled "Thanks!" As I was walking away.
I followed his instructions, marveling at the city. It was mostly massive wood buildings with some metal parts. So much business and trading seemed to be happening here, and I couldn't resist peeking in a few shops, looking at what they were selling. Most was items and such, but some sold materials and ores. Eventually I looked inside a store and saw armor on sale. When I looked at the big overarching, wooden sign, it read 'Bulgord Armory'. Right next to the store was a wooden bridge, just 15 feet long, above a small river.
As I moved across the river, I couldn't help but admire the beauty of the area. It was trees all in front of me, the ocean to my right, and the grasslands of the Steppe to my left. After the bridge ended, there was only a single dirt path into the forest, no signs of civilization. After following the dirt path for at least five minutes, amazed at all the green, the forest ended and I reached massive fields, growing wheat, nulberries, honey, herbs, ivy, and so much more. A few minutes ahead of me towered a massive area. It was made of cobblestone, with flags and cannons and archers and ballistae and so much more. There was a massive hall with massive, wooden doors. Guards stood in front of them. Behind the hall was a large, square castle. The entire building must have been at least two hundred feet tall. Farmers in the fields waved at me as I walked by, saying all manner of things such as hello and how ya doin' and hey there. Finally, I reached the hall. The guards, each with massive lances and alloy armor, stopped me. They formed an X with the lances.
"Halt! Who goes there?" The one on my right boomed, his armor glistening in the sunlight.
"I just needed to get my Guild Card...please?" I said nervously. The armor was a combination of blue and silver. It was very metallic, heavily resembling a knight's armor, except for the belt, which had all manner of pouches and items on it.
"Name?" The one on the left spoke now, his voice demanding.
"Arthur Fallings," I responded quickly, straightening up.
"Weren't you supposed to be here a couple of days ago?" Left asked.
"Yeah, but there was an accident, and then it became a whole situation that we don't have time to get into at the moment," I responded.
Right hesitated, and finally told me I could go ahead. They broke the X, and looked ahead, past me. I nodded, got up, and walked towards the massive doors. Opening them (which took a massive amount of strength, by the way), I marveled at the inside. There was a humongous golden chandelier hanging above the hall, which had red flags draped everywhere. At the end were an identical pair of the doors I had opened to get in, and a counter with four woman and a very short man. Across from that was a shop, an item box, and a Felyne chef. I walked towards the very short man, who I knew was the Guildmaster. "Hello, who are you?" He said optimistically as I walked towards him.
"Arthur Fallings, I'm looking to get my Guild Card. I was supposed to be here a few days ago, but got held up." I responded, wanting to cut to the chase.
"Arthur Fallings, Arthur Fallings..." He mumbled, looking over a list. "Ah! Arthur Fallings. Twenty three, born and raised in Moga, applied seven months ago, and some hunting experience. Tutored by Eva Falingrant, also a Hunter. That you?" I nodded. "Great! Well, here ya go." He handed me a card, with my name and an illustration of me, as well as the background being the drawing of a beach, with the sparkling ocean continuing for miles ahead, into the horizon. I don't know how they got the illustration, but it might be better not to ask.
I marvel at the guild card, running my hands over it's smooth front. Flipping it over to the back, I saw an empty chart. On the side are question marks, and on the top, the words 'hunted' and 'captured' repeat 65 times. I opened my mouth to thank them, but movement out of the corner of my eye drew my attention. I saw the Felyne that was with us earlier squeeze through the doors, and scamper away. I quickly thanked them, and rushed after the Felyne.
