Chapter 36

(9:27pm)

James heard a tapping at the front door of the Possible house.

"Can you get that, honey? It's definitely Kimberly." Anne insisted, for she received a text from Kim saying that practice for the balcony scene was complete.

"I sure can, dear!" James replied. He opened the door and there stood Kim and Ron with thier scripts. They were both exhausted.

"What happened with you and Ronald? Did you two manage to finish the scene?" James asked.

"We did." Kim replied, "Took us a little bit longer than usual."

"Oh yeah, MrDrP! Me and Kim managed to get through the scene. The language was a bit flowery though." Ron added.

"It took us 40 minutes to do a scene that normally takes 15. But we're trying to cut it down on the time front." Kim chimed in.
"I can see that." James replied before raising his eyebrow, looking at the blush at their face, "No extracurricular activity, right?"
"Oh no...!" Kim insisted.

"Of course not, MrDrP!" Ron agreed. They were telling the truth, of course.

James gave an approving nod of his head.

"Good. Ronald, why don't you get some rest since I told your parents that you'd be coming with us to the Nomally anniversary tomorrow." he insisted, "And Kimberly, I'd suggest you pack up your toiletries ASAP."
"Sure can do, Dad." Kim said before turning to Ron. "Wanna read our script in the van tomorrow?"
"I'll try to, Kim." Ron replied, "But how are we going to practice with your brothers in the car?"
"Simple, we'll read it to ourselves in the car at some point and hopefully they won't bother us." Kim said. "Though, I wouldn't be surprised if they try to disrupt it."

Kim then headed upstairs to gather up her toiletries, including toothbrush and toothpaste.
"So what time are we leaving by the way, MrDrP?" Ron asked, trying to figure out the meeting time.

"We're going to leave bright and early at 7am." James explained, "It is going to be a 3-hour drive to Dalton, Nebraska."

The Nomally Ranch was located about 4 miles to the west of Dalton.
"Hopefully, we can stop by Bueno Nacho on the way there." Ron said, "Rufus does need those breakfast sausage churros."
"Extra syrup!" Rufus chimed in.

"I'll keep that in mind, Ronald." James said, "The one at Fort Morgan would suffice?"
"Yeah, since it is the only Bueno Nacho between here and the Normally place." Ron replied. He had been to the Nomally house before for a few of the Christmases on Anne's side of the family and selected that Bueno Nacho as his go-to location.

"One other thing, are we going to stay at a hotel for Saturday night?" Ron wondered.

"Nope, Mr. Nomally has got that covered since his ranch is a dude ranch, similar to that of Slim!" James said, referring to his brother in Montana. "He has a few cottages on the premises that are reserved for guests or, in this case, family."

"I'm all about the chillaxin', Mr DrP." Ron replied, seemily relaxed. "I just want to be sure that there aren't any mechanical horses on that ranch like last time."
"Ronald, these are actual horses..." James groaned before getting to the point. "Just be sure to have everything ready by 6:30am."

"Sure can do!" Ron insisted. "Mind if I say good night to Kim?"
"By all means!" James replied with a smile.

"Night, Ron! I'll see you in the morning!" Kim replied from the top of the stairs.

Ron left the Possible house for the evening and James closed the door behind him.

(10:55pm)
The Possibles were asleep through the house, anticipating the trip to the Nomally Ranch in Nebraska for tomorrow. They were unaware that Ashley A and Ashley B had their car parked right in front of the house, though the motor was not running for fear of waking them up.

The two of them were wearing the same black shirt-and-jeans combo that they used to swap Kim and Ron's places on the audition sheet.

Ashley B had the video tape of both Kim and Ron kissing during the Romeo and Juliet practice.

"You sure Bonnie wants us to go through with this part of the plan, Ashley A?" Ashley B asked.

Ashley A smiled and replied, "Of course, Ashley B. It's our way of helping her embarrass Possible and Stoppable!"

"This would mean, however, that the Cheer Squad and Golden Dancers are going to have one big cat fight if all heck breaks loose." Ashley B said with worry.

"Ah, but it will only be on Possible and her friends. It will not be either on us or on Bonnie." Ashley A countered.

"Since we've been best friends since kindergarten, I trust you, Ashley A, on this." Ashley B said.

Getting back to the plan, the second-in-command of the Ashleys then asked "Now where is Lisa, since she is the biggest gossiper on the Golden Dancers?"

Ashley A began to explain her part of the plan in detail.

"She lives on that cul-de-sac about four houses down from the Possible house according to one of the address books that I managed to pickpocket from Bessie during fourth period a couple of days ago. There is a very large oak tree in their backyard with several sturdy branch, one which connects to Lisa's bedroom. We swap out the tape of their last GD practice in the band hall with the kissy-kissy tape. Once Lisa plays it at Middleton High, she would be spreading the news like wildfire and all we, and Bonnie, have to do is to sit back and watch the fireworks!"

"I like the way you think, Ashley A!" Ashley B exclaimed, her faith now restored in Bonnie's evil plan to make Kim and Ron fools of themselves in front of the whole school.

The two girls, silently and stealthily, crept towards Lisa's house, making sure to not disturb anyone sleeping in the neighborhood.

(15 minutes later)

"Alright...we should be at the right place: 4353 Wisteria Ln., Middleton CO 80120!" Ashley A said from reading the address book.
The house was a two-story house that had four bedrooms and three baths and was about 2500 square feet.

"Now here is the key question." Ashley B replied, noting the critical point of their plan. "Do they have the giant oak tree?"
Ashley A simply pointed to the large trunk of the tree in the backyard, including a peculiar branch that extended to Lisa's room, which was on the second floor of the house.

The two girls crept up to the backyard before Ashley B stopped.

Ashley A groaned and whispered, "What is it now?"
"Can you make sure that there aren't any dogs in the backyard?" Ashley B whimpered, "I don't know if she has any or not!"
Ashley A scoffed, "She doesn't have any. She's a cat person."

"Ahh...well that's good at least." Ashley B said before Ashley A motioned with her head to keep on moving. They did not have time to mess around.

Carefully, they slowly opened the door to the backyard and crept to the giant oak tree.

Ashley A and Ashley B used the indents on the tree to climb up to the large branch that snaked to Lisa's bedroom on the second floor. The window was only large enough for one person to fit through.

"I'm going to go in the bedroom to make the swap. You keep an eye out for anyone who wakes up." Ashley A explained the next part of the plan while holding the tape.

Ashley B said nothing but nodded her head in agreement. Ashley A slowly slid the window open. Luckily for her, Lisa's family did not have an alarm system and that she herself was in a very deep sleep, dreaming about the Golden Dancers winning the CHSAA trophy.

Ashley A quietly tiptoed her way to Lisa's backpack and made the video tape exchange. She tiptoed back to the window and quietly got out of the room.

They were hoping that this would spread the Kim and Ron news through the school.
