A/N: Got reminded of this little brain worm while my mom and brother were watching Pirates of the Caribbean. It more came from the DreamWorks movie Sinbad than anything else, especially this scene. Also, there was a bit of a...dirtier version of this, but I don't want to push that 'T' rating too far and push it straight to 'M' unless I have to. Maybe I should do a more 'mature' version of this oneshot series over on AO3 or something this year, I dunno. Gotta practice for those later scenes of Amid Clan Disputes, eh? XD
Disclaimer: I do not own Yu-Gi-Oh! 5D's. That goes to the respective owner(s). I only claim my OCs. Also, scene slightly inspired by the DreamWorks Sinbad and prepare the soap for Ren's potty mouth.
Pirate AU- Propositions:
(Yusei's POV)
"What? You're not going to get the Book?"
"You saw my crew, Yusei. There's no way in hell we could ever get close enough to get it back, much less face a primordial goddess of chaos and discord!" Ren retorted, throwing his sword off into the wall of his captain's quarters. "We're heading for the nearest ship port, hire some more skilled adventurers, and then hang low until they can get the Book of the Crimson Dragon. Then, we'll book it right back to Domino."
"By the time we get to there, Jack will have sent every officer and bounty hunter after your head since he and the whole kingdom are convinced you took it," I retorted.
"I. Didn't. Take it. You know it, I know it. And I'd rather it be put to someone who can handle a journey to the depths of the Underworld to get it back. I know at least a dozen perfectly capable risk takers, and none of them are on this ship." He jumped onto the bed, pulling his hat over his face. "Tired of having to get on those pompous bastards' sides all the time..."
Ren was right. I knew he didn't take the Book as he and I were...ahem, getting ;reacquainted' with each other. A thought struck me. I sat on the edge of the bed next to his legs. "Well, besides clearing your name, what about something...else you could get?"
He lifted his hat off his face, blue-green eyes looking confused. "Uhh...like what?"
I gave a quick shrug. "I don't know. Money, being heralded as a hero..." As I talked, I leaned closer to him and had him a bit pressed against the wall beside his bed. "Or maybe...a continuation of the other night?"
"Con...Continuation?" Ren's face was turning bright red as he spoke. It felt as if I got any closer, I could hear his heartbeat.
"But...as you said, you don't have any of the risk takers on board this ship." I pulled away, getting off the bed. "Once you dock the ship at your destination, I'll go with whoever you hire. I think the kingdom will understand when I explain everything." I headed for the door. "I'm sure Jack will be a bit relieved to not be in your debt anyway. Just send me a postcard when yo get to your vacation spot. Bye." I opened the door quickly and shut it behind me.
(Ren's POV)
As soon as he closed the door, I managed to regain control of my body and just let out a yell of frustration as I buried my face into my pillow. Of all the...did he just...suggest...argh! The asshole! I thought as I tried to calm all the roiling emotions going through my body and mind. It wasn't like I was underestimating my own crew. Far from it, we faced countless challenges and managed to come out in one piece. But when I replay meeting that goddess of darkness...well, I hate to admit this, but I was scared out of my wits. She could easily crush me like a dust mite and not even have to use a tenth of her power, or even a hundredth!
Screw it...you're just doing this so that that asshole has to owe you one...not what Yusei suggested or implied and you're definitely not wanting to relive any of those moments again! I set my hat on right, about to storm out when I thought a bit better and just calmly opened the door and stuck my front out.
"Eric!" I called.
"Yes, Captain?" he responded from the top deck.
"Changed of plans. Set a course for the Gates of the Underworld. We're getting the Book of the Crimson Dragon back to Domino!"
"Aye aye, Captain!"
A/N: Well...I just wrote that. Hope I kept it in the 'T' rating enough (trying not to be too, well, descriptive). I think if I do set this as a full blown fic, I'm posting it on AO3 for...well, reasons. Might have to watch that movie a few dozen times to get some ideas.
Also, wow, just realized it is the eight year anniversary since I started this whole mess. O_O And I haven't reached 100 shorts yet?! What is wrong with me?! DX
