Welcome back to A Song of Spiders and Dragons. Last time, Spider-Man, Spyro, and Cynder made their way to the Veterans Center in Harlem at last, discovering that Miles Morales and Aunt May were trapped inside the building. Spider-Man slung in with Spyro and Cynder behind him, and things were at wire tension the whole time. But thankfully, with some aid from MJ, Ember, and Flame, everybody managed to make it out before the building burned down, even if Spider-Man was almost knocked to a fiery death at least twice. So, what awaits now? Read on to discover...
(Our scene picks up back at the Veterans Center in Harlem, or rather, the charred ruins of the Veterans Center in Harlem, where the authorities have taken over the scene. But on the next rooftop over, a familiar group of six is meeting. Spyro is using his Ice Element to cool some burns, and Cynder is doing the same with her Wind Element. Ember and Flame are melting down some of Spyro's Ice into drinking water, while MJ is checking on Spider-Man, who is right now coughing up a lung due to the smoke inhalation)
Spider-Man: Is May OK?
MJ: Everyone is safe.
Spider-Man: (Sighs) MJ, Ember, Flame, if it weren't for you three and Miles, we would've been...
MJ: About as dead as the last nine thousand times you saved us.
Ember: Like it or not, we still owe you guys a few.
(Spider-Man admittedly appreciated Ember's joke and attempts to laugh, only for the pain in his still busted ribs to kick in)
Spyro: You may want to hold off on that laughter, Spidey.
Spider-Man: No kidding, man that smarts.
MJ: Hey, I'm... we're sorry we screwed things up.
Flame: It's just... how to describe it...
MJ: Hard being the ones who always get saved. You know? Sometimes, we want to do the saving.
Cynder: To be honest, we should be the ones apologizing to you in that regard.
Spider-Man: You two aren't to blame. It's me more than anything. I'm sorry that we made you feel that way. (Realizing there's no better time to ask) Still partners?
MJ: Yeah.
Ember: You know it.
Flame: To the end.
Spyro: Good to know we can count on you guys, in spite of everything.
Cynder: Then this time, let's make this team work right.
(Just as the moment is getting good, Miles Morales enters through a stairwell, carrying a box of water)
Miles Morales: Hey, uh, I didn't know if you wanted sparkling or flat or spring or mountain spring, so I got one of each.
Spyro: (Smiling while suppressing a chuckle) Anything works for us, Miles.
Miles Morales: (Finally reading the rooftop) Am I... interrupting something.
Spider-Man: No, Miles. MJ... Ms. Watson's team and I were just talking strategy.
Miles Morales: Strategy?
MJ: Yeah. The city's in danger, it needs our help.
Cynder: All our help.
Miles Morales: (Realizing exactly what Cynder's hinting at) You guys want me on the team?
Spyro: Hell yeah, Miles. Every set of skills we can throw at this thing helps.
Miles Morales: Alright. Let's do this. Call the play, coach.
Spider-Man: (Still a little unsure about this, but realizing he's outvoted) Alright, we need to divide and conquer.
Spyro: First up, we need an antiserum for Devil's Breath. (To MJ) MJ, Ember, Flame, that's you guys. Oscorp is working on something. But there's no way they can keep it safe from both Octavius and Li. We've got to find the cure and protect it.
MJ: We'll chase down some leads.
Cynder: Meanwhile, Miles, we need you to be our eyes and ears at F.E.A.S.T. Should anything go wrong, call any or all of us immediately. We need to keep that place and the people therein safe.
Miles Morales: Got it. What about you three?
Spider-Man: A gang of costumed nutjobs is taking the city apart piece by piece. It's long past time we returned the favor.
(And with that, Spider-Man, Spyro and Cynder are about to take off when Miles Morales realizes one thing)
Miles Morales: Wait, how do I contact you? I mean, I've got Spyro and Cynder's numbers, but do you have a cell phone in your... pockets or something?
Spider-Man: Ms. Watson has my number.
Cynder: Or you know, just call us. If all else fails, we can get a message out.
Spyro: Alright then. Let's get to work team.
(With that, Spider-Man and Spyro sling off from the rooftop, ready to take out the Sinister Six once and for all, while MJ, Ember, Flame and Miles Morales are left on the rooftop)
Miles Morales: (Looking at MJ) You've got Spider-Man's number? Are you his girlfriend or something? Because that would be so cool if...
MJ: That's a really long story that we'll have to get into another time. Come on Sherlock, show us what you've got in this water smorgasbord.
(And with the now seven person team set to operate, our story ends for today)
And that looks like a good place to end for today. So, it looks like the divide between friends has finally been mended, allowing the team to finally reform for good, and now even Miles is involved! But next time, things get serious. It's time to take down the Sinister Six. So, what's the next step in the plan? Tune in next time to find out! Same time... same channel!
