Welcome back to A Song of Spiders and Dragons. Last time, the team recovered from the fire at the Veterans Center, and there was some much needed catharsis for everybody, ensuring that the team of Spyro, Cynder, Spider-Man, MJ, Ember, and Flame is far from disbanded. And now Miles Morales is part of it as well! So the septet make a plan to divide and conquer. Miles will keep an eye on things at F.E.A.S.T., MJ, Ember, and Flame are working to secure and protect the Devil's Breath antiserum, and of course, Spyro, Cynder, and Spider-Man are out to take down the Sinister Six. So, how's that going? Read on to discover...
(Our scene picks up with Spider-Man, Spyro, and Cynder slinging into the scene, hopefully a little more relieved now that their team of seven is on the case.)
Spider-Man: (Sighing with a hint of relief) The city feels a little bit more secure right now.
Spyro: With Miles watching F.E.A.S.T., and MJ, Ember, and Flame searching for a Devil's Breath cure, it's definitely taken a lot off our minds.
Cynder: Leaving us enough time to focus on finding Dr. Octavius and stopping whatever he has planned.
(Agreeing with a nod, Spider-Man makes a phone call, dialing Yuri)
Spider-Man: Yuri, we need to start tracking the big guys. Still no sign of Octavius?
Yuri: No, still nothing. Forensics can't even do a sweep of Times Square, everybody in that department is sick aside from the intern!
Spyro: Leave that to us.
Cynder: We'll let you know what we find. Anonymously.
(With that, the trio descends into Times Square, the ground zero of the Devil's Breath epidemic. Thankfully the spot isn't any more contagious than anywhere else in NYC at this point, and straightaway, the trio runs into one of the cops guarding the spot)
Police Officer: What are you three doing here?
Spyro: Trying to give you guys a hand.
Spider-Man: Looks like you could use one.
Police Officer: I'm not supposed to say this, but you're dead on. I've never seen anything like this Devil's Breath stuff. Forensics is having a hell of a time with it.
Cynder: Maybe we can get somewhere with all this.
(The police officer just nods an affirmative, leaving the trio to do their work without alerting Sable.)
Spyro: News reports state that this is where Dr. Octavius released the Devil's Breath.
Cynder: There must still be some residue we can track.
Spider-Man: Let me scan around.
(Handling some of the debris carefully, Spider-Man does an in field analysis of any chemical compounds he can find, and soon enough, hits paydirt)
Spider-Man: Oscorp's modified Cpf1, definitely Devil's Breath. (Puts down the debris) Now we should be able to track the dispersal path.
(Activating a function on his suit, Spider-Man soon has a dispersal path on Devil's Breath, or rather several of them.)
Spider-Man: Looks like there's a few paths. (Sends data to Spyro and Cynder) Just sent the tracking data to your phones. We need to find the right dispersal trail
Spyro: On it.
Cynder: No time to waste.
(And with that, the trio sets to work, checking each of the dispersal trails Spider-Man located.)
Spyro: Otto sure picked a good spot to release this! The trail's bouncing about between the buildings!
Cynder: We can't give up hope yet!
(As everybody searches, Spider-Man eventually finds himself on the right path, leading him up the side of a building and onto a roof, near the very sign Doctor Octopus destroyed as he unleashed Devil's Breath. Knowing he's got the location, he sends a signal to Spyro and Cynder, who immediately join him on the rooftop)
Spider-Man: Looks like this is where Otto was standing. What was he doing up here?
Spyro: You mean aside from releasing a deadly plague?
Spider-Man: But why here? There's a dozen spots in Times Square he could have been. Why up here?
Cynder: (Checking the dispersal trails) Looks like the answer resides in the vents.
Spider-Man: Should be a hatch or opening somewhere.
(Spyro doesn't even need to look very far, as soon enough he's standing right on it. With a whistle, he summons Cynder and Spider-Man to his side)
Spyro: This is the spot.
Cynder: Well, only one place to go now. Into the belly of the beast.
Spider-Man: Then let's go.
(Spider-Man opens the hatch into the vents below and the trio enters as our scene ends for today)
And that looks like a good place to end for today. So, it looks like Doctor Octopus picked this building for a reason, and not just to smash a billboard with Osborn's face on it. But why? What hides within these vents? Tune in next time to find out! Same time... same channel!
