Welcome back to A Song of Spiders and Dragons. Last time, Spyro, Cynder and Spider-Man finally made it to the relief center in Harlem, and were just in time to stop Rhino from wrecking the place. Scorpion tried to even the odds when he jumped into the fray, but all he ended up doing was pissing Rhino off once they both got their tails handed to them. Spider-Man managed to trap the duo in a shipping container, where Rhino proceeded to beat the tar out of Scorpion for calling him a freak. And just like that, two more members of the Sinister Six are down. So, what comes next? Read on to discover...
(Our scene opens up with Spider-Man, Spyro, and Cynder overseeing as the NYPD takes Rhino and Scorpion into custody, having since passed out inside the shipping container. As officers surround the thing, Spider-Man puts a call in to Yuri)
Spider-Man: More good news, Yuri. Rhino and Scorpion are off the board. Only Martin Li and Octavius are still in play.
Yuri: The toughest of the bunch. And they're not even our biggest problem.
Spyro: What's happening now?
Yuri: Devil's Breath cases are ramping up in severity, and Oscorp is being incredibly coy about an antiserum. I'm starting to worry they're seeing dollar signs in a seller's market.
Cynder: (Growls in frustration at how in character this is) Knowing Norman Osborn, that's the least surprising thing I've heard all day.
Spider-Man: Leave Devil's Breath to us, Yuri. Our best team is on it.
Yuri: Let's hope so. (Hangs up)
Spyro: We'd better give our team a call and see how they're doing.
Cynder: (Dialing a number) Way ahead of you.
(Pretty soon the call rings out across the shared communication system as Flame picks up the line)
Flame: Heard about you three in Harlem. I'd have to guess Rhino's down?
Cynder: So is Scorpion.
Flame: Nice.
Spyro: How goes the search for the Devil's Breath lab.
Ember: (Picking up the phone) This is getting absurd is what it is! We've been through city, state, federal, even international databases, and if this Devil's Breath lab does exist, it's off any books.
Spider-Man: Sounds exactly like something the Mayor would do.
MJ: (Picking up the line) At this rate, there's only one place I can think to look. Norman's personal files.
Cynder: We've already been through his office computer and didn't find anything.
Spyro: Are you three thinking of searching his penthouse?
Spider-Man: That place is crawling with Sable's men. If they spot us, civilians are going to get hurt in a firefight.
MJ: We know, but the three of us? We may be able to sneak in undetected. Sneak in, find the location, get back out. And if anything goes wrong, we'll call on you three instantly.
Spyro: It's risky.
Cynder: But at this rate, we don't have much of a choice, do we? We need that location if we're going to Doctor Octavius.
Spider-Man: Begrudgingly, Cynder's right. But we need you three to wait for us to get into position nearby before you make your move.
MJ: Can do. (Hangs up)
Spyro: How much do you want to bet they're already walking to Norman's building?
Cynder: I'd put money on them already being there.
Spider-Man: Then let's get moving.
(And with that, the trio heads off from Harlem towards Norman Osborn's penthouse, overlooking Central Park. But they themselves stop just a few blocks short, secluding themselves with another building's air conditioning unit before redialing MJ)
Spider-Man: Alright, we're a few blocks away. Call us immediately if you get into trouble.
(And before MJ can respond, our scene ends for today)
And that looks like a good place to end for today. A bit shorter than usual, but since we're about to enter an MJ mission, it seemed right to end at the point we did. So, wherever this Devil's Breath lab is, Osborn's done a good job of hiding it. But even he needs to keep a record of it somewhere. And if it isn't in his office, maybe MJ's got the right idea looking in the penthouse. But will they find anything there? Tune in next time to hopefully find out! Same time... same channel!
