Xavier and Peata had taken a shuttle down to Bajor. Xavier looked at the house that Peata grew up in. It looked like a nice place to grow up in. There was land around the house to run and play. The house was big and airy. Xavier watched Peata take a breath before the front door opened.
Two older Bajorans stepped out of the house. "Peata," The older woman said as she ran to her daughter. Xavier watched as mother and daughter hugged each other. Peata hugged the older man too. Xavier smiled as he watched them. It reminded him that he missed his parents, but he got to see his parents more than Peata did.
"Mom, Dad, this is Xavier Paris," Xavier heard his name. He looked up and saw Peata introduce him to his parents.
"Mr. Adrian, Mrs. Adrian, it is a pleasure meeting you," Xavier shook the head that Mr. Adrian held out.
"This is the man you write about," Mrs. Adrian said to her daughter.
"You write home about me," Xavier gave Peata a half smile. "I hope that it is only good things."
"Never," Peata smiled.
Peata's parents exchanged looks. There was more to this relationship than either Peata or Xavier were letting on about. They could read their daughter, and they knew that she was in love with the young man. The young man was in love with her. They had to wonder who was going to make the first move.
"Peata, why don't you and Xavier step into the house?" Mrs. Adrian said.
Peata looked up at her mother. "Oh," She got caught up in Xavier that she forgot her parents were there.
"You can show him where he is staying while he is here," Mrs. Adrian said. She knew that her daughter was going to show him to the guest room or her room. Peata nodded. Xavier picked up their bags. "Also, your siblings will be here for dinner," Mrs. Adrian yelled after them.
After Peata showed Xavier where he would be staying, Peata gave him a tour of the house. Xavier saw what a beautiful house it was. They made their way to the kitchen where Xavier could smell dinner cooking. Whatever it was, it smelled good.
"Smells good," Xavier smiled at Mrs. Adrian.
"Thank you," Mrs. Adrian smiled at Xavier.
They heard a door open and Peata looked up and saw her brother and sister walk in. She had missed them as she went to hug them. Xavier watched from the sideline and knew how much the siblings loved each other. It was the same with his siblings. He was close to them even with their own lives.
"Xavier, I like you to meet my sister, Pumo, and my brother, Zacec," Peata caught his attention again.
Xavier smiled at them and held out his hand. "Hello," He shook each of their hands. "It's nice to finally meet Peata's siblings. She talks about you all the time."
"I hope only good things," Pumo said. She could see how good looking he was. She had to wonder why her sister hadn't slept with him yet.
"Maybe, I can't be sure. Something about running away together," Pumo blushed and Zacec shrugged his shoulders.
"Don't you start. I remember some of the stories that you told me about you and your sisters," Peata laughed.
"You have sisters?" Zacec asked. He just found something in common with the man that his sister brought to Bajor.
"Yes, two, one older and one younger," Xavier smiled.
Zacec threw his arm around Xavier. "Are they problems like my sisters?"
"I can't say because it would get to my sisters somehow and they will kick my ass," Xavier glanced at Peata because he knew how close she was to his sisters.
Zacec nodded. "Later," He whispered. Xavier nodded.
"Dinner's ready, please take a seat," Mrs., Adrian said.
The family sat down, and Xavier watched as they caught up with their lives. It reminded him of his family when they got together. Xavier sat back and watched. He would answer the questions that Peata's parents asked about him. They had asked what his parents did and what his sisters did. Xavier told them.
After dinner, the children helped clean up, leaving Xavier alone with Peata's parents. He was worried about what they would ask him. At first, they asked about his life on Earth and if he grew up there. They asked more questions about his parents and Xavier told them.
"When are you and my daughter getting together?" Mrs. Adrian asked.
Xavier choked on his water. "Your daughter and I are just friends."
Mrs. Adrian narrowed her eyes. She had seen the way the two of them looked at each other. This young man was in love with his daughter and her daughter was in love with him. They could have forgotten that other people were in the room. She had to wonder what his family thought about the relationship. "What does your family think about this?"
"Probably the same thing that you do. My cousin just told me to go for it," Xavier really needed Peata and her siblings to come back in the room. Mrs. Adrian shook her head. She wanted to know what was stopping them. Before she could ask her children, she came back in the room.
Peata woke to the sun coming through her window. It felt nice. It felt different than the sun from Earth. She knew that she was home. She got out of bed, showered, and dressed before heading to the kitchen to find something for breakfast. She found her mom and sister staring out the kitchen window. She slowly made her way over to them and looked out the window to see Xavier exercising with his bat'leth. All he had on was a pair of pants. Peata saw the muscle in his body move with him. Peata was getting warm just thinking about it. She took a breath before saying.
"What are you doing?" She asked her mother and sister. They both jumped up and blushed. They tried to find words, but nothing came. "You were watching Xavier," They nodded. "I know it is very distracting. I remember the first time that I saw him do it," Peata was back in her third year at the academy and saw him from her window.
Pumo narrowed her eyes at her sister. "Is there a reason that you haven't slept with him yet?"
Peata blushed. She glanced through the window to see that Xavier was done. He had taken a drink of water and wiped his face. She watched him as he came in the back door.
Xavier smiled at the women. "Good morning, ladies. I'm going to shower," Peata nodded. Xavier made his way back to the bathroom.
Pumo waited five minutes before she said. "You still didn't answer my question."
"We are friends and that is all we are," Peata said.
Pumo didn't believe her sister for one second. She knew her sister was in love with the man. What man would come and send his shore leave on Bajor with the woman he worked with if he didn't have feelings for her. "If you say so," Pumo turned to her mother. "I have a feeling that they will be married before they are thirty and a few babies."
"Pumo," Peata hissed at her sister. Pumo shrugged her shoulders.
Mrs. Adrian decided not to get involved with her daughters as she went back to making breakfast.
"I hope that I didn't miss breakfast," Xavier said as he entered the kitchen.
Peata turned around and saw that he was clean. He had brushed his wet hair back. "No, I just started," Mrs. Adrian smiled at the young man. She felt that Pumo was right about this young man and her daughter. It was only a matter of time before they got married and started working on that family. Mrs. Adrian was ready to become a grandmother.
Xavier nodded before turning to Peata. "Are you going to show me around Bajor today?" He smiled and Peata's heart melted.
"Yeah," Peata returned his smile.
Peata showed Xavier around Bajor, and they had a good time. Before they knew it was time to get back to Deep Space Nine. They had to get back to the shipyard that was working on their new ship. Xavier had fun getting to know a different side of Peata. He hoped that things might change between them. They said goodbye to her family, who welcomed him back any time he was in the area. He hoped the next time that he would come back as Peata's boyfriend. There were many times he wanted to kiss but didn't. Xavier got on the shuttle and thought that Bajor was a beautiful place.
