Gwyndolin's crush

chapter 4

"Oh." Of course he had feelings for her, everyone had feelings for Gwyndolin's sister. In all honestly when he heard the first part of her name he almost thought he was referring to himself, but nay. He would have to keep his more hopeful side in check, for now he was severely disappointed.

"I know it sounds crazy. She's a god after all, and I'm just a lowly undead." Arias acknowledged. Crazy? No, it was just bloody insane. Though Gwyndolin couldn't exactly criticize considering he -a god- had feelings for the mortal before him. Much the reverse of Arias' problem.

"No, it's alright, go on." Gwyndolin still encouraged him, despite the burning feeling of disappointment in his chest, he was curious to know what he thought of his sister.

"Well, I dunno what else to really say. Of course, as an undead knight I don't really see much of her. Though I do see her sitting with Gwyn and his other children in those meetings and celebrations. She never seems to get bored of them somehow, that or she is great at hiding her boredom." No he was close to the truth there, Gwynevere was great at hiding and faking emotions. It was honestly quite scary when Gwyndolin thought on it for too long. "And of course everyone knows how beautiful and elegant she is. As the princess of sunlight, she herself shines so beautifully and radiantly. And she's so larger than life. I mean how could I not fall for her."

Gwyndolin hated these speeches about "O my love!" The amount of times he'd heard it from both siblings only for them to dump said lover like a few weeks later was astonishing. He would have much preferred if this speech was about him but oh well. Arias described her like how everyone else described Gwynevere too, not a hint of originality. He did feel pity for Arias, not even gods could ever meet his sister's ridiculous standards, even though she explicitly said they had sometimes, the poor sod had no chance.

He was trying his damn best to keep a great from off his face and he had to change the illusion ever so slightly, so Arias didn't look over and see how upset he was, even though it was to be expected after being rejected, Gwyndolin didn't want Arias to be upset with 'Judith'.

"Anyway. Sorry for leading you on like this. I guess I just wanted to see what it would actually be like to- Is that a snake?" Arias stopped and pointed beside Gwyndolin.

"Huh?" Gwyndolin looked to where Arias was pointing and there was in fact a snake peeking out from under his dress.

'oh dear' he thought to himself. Yes indeed this called for quick and careful action.

"AAAAHHH" Gwyndolin yelped. Jumping up from his spot on the floor and onto Arias' lap.

"Woah wai-" Was all that Arias managed to say before he landed on him. He didn't exactly catch him with elegance, in fact he fumbled so badly that they tumbled to the floor.

"I-Is it gone?" Gwyndolin sat up in panic. Arias grumbled as he sat himself up, looking around he didn't see it anymore.

"I think so. I guess you scared it off. You seem pretty good at that." He mumbled half-jokingly. Gwyndolin sighed in relief at an expertly executed plan that went without a hitch. He'd fixed the illusion spell in the confusion, so it looked like the snake had just slithered off.

"H-hehe... Sorry." He chuckled nervously. Then he stopped when he finally took in the surroundings and noticed that the sun had long since gone down.

"Oh my, the time. Apologies, I must get going now." Was all he said before running off.

Arias just sat there, flabbergasted. He'd never met someone that... odd. It's like she was paranoid about something the whole time. Oh well, at least she wasn't too upset about him rejecting her.

Standing up, he dusted himself off though it seemed his surcoat had been stained by the grass and dirt. That was gonna be a pain to wash off. Oh well.

Slowly slithering through the now dim halls of Anor Londo, Gwyndolin felt like shit. And he was definitely gonna get shouted at for being home late, though that wasn't enough to take his mind from the memory of Arias telling 'Judith' how he felt about Gwenevere.

Gwyndolin felt awful, until he bumped into his sister.

"Ohp! G-Gwyndolin? What art thou doing out here at such an hour?" She asked, shocked since she was unable to see him approach due to her immense height.

"Oh, uhm, nothing." He replied quietly, trying not to let his disappointment come through his voice. He didn't want to think differently of her especially since she had absolutely nothing to do with what happened.

"Pardon? Thou knows thou must speak up otherwise I cannot hear thee clearly from down there." She yelled down to him. Although as usual she was speaking in a gentle tone, it felt more like she was bellowing at him because of her size.

"I WAS JUST GRABBING A GLASS OF WATER" Gwyndolin yelled at the top of his lungs. Even though he obviously didn't have a glass of water with him, there was no way for her to see from so high up.

"Ah alright. Well have a good evening dear brother." She cheerily responded, calmly strolling off afterwards, leaving only a few cracks on the tile floor.

"LIKEWISE." He shouted at her again, before slithering off to his room. Finally walking in, he closed the door behind him and flopped onto the bed, exhausted.

Though he couldn't stop himself from imagining how great it would've been if Arias had actually said his name instead of hers. How great that would've been. Oh well, his life was never really a fairytale, he'd adapt. For now, he could at least appreciate the comfortable bedsheets he had, that is before he heard a knock on the door.

"What is it!?"

"Hey, Gwyndolin?"

"Yes, what is it Faraam?"

"Dad said he wants to see you."

"..."

"Gwyndolin?"

"Oh fuck."

A/N Tried to get this chapter done quicker. As usual I gotta deal with life so I can't make them as fast as I'd like. Though there is something I'm working on as well in the background that I'll probably publish in a few months. As much as I try, ideas never seem to stop streaming from my head lol. Anyways see you soon.
