Curious Cat and the Kitten
"What was that about?" Maine asked with a raised brow behind his glasses and a slight smirk as Sasha returned from the bar with their drinks, having seen the whole thing about that kid chatting her up.
"Just some little girl who was trying to impress me," Sasha said as she sat with them and passed out their drinks.
"Awwww, looks like our little kitty is breaking the hearts of even the young ones," Dorio smirked. "Do we need to call the NCPD on you for picking up a minor at some point?"
"Hehehe, I prefer my prey to be old enough to fight back," Sasha smirked. "Besides, honestly don't think she was trying to pick me up. She is definitely a new timer to Afterlife, which is impressive for someone so young, and likely just wants to cultivate contacts or something. Offered to do some netrunner work for me."
"Then clearly she doesn't know who you are," Maine pointed out. "What could a greenhorn kid possibly offer you?"
"She namedropped a netrunner I know, but that could mean nothing since she is pretty well known in netrunner circle," Sasha shrugged. "Still, she kind of reminds me of me when I first started out so I'm feeling generous about maybe throwing her some crumbs."
"Cute, looking after the little kitten," Dorio smirked again. "Careful though, if you feed a stray too much they might follow you home and force you to adopt them."
"That's how we got stuck with you after all," Maine smirked, causing Sasha to pout.
"You'd guys be dead a dozen times over if it wasn't for me and you know it!"
"Hehehe, no doubt there," Maine admitted before turning serious. "Speaking of which, while the gig isn't set yet our contact has let me know it might go down soon and to get ready."
"Right," Sasha returned, equally serious. "I better stock up then..."
"Hey Yoko," Sasha greeted as she physically stepped into the Dewdrop Inn in Kabuki.
"Sasha, been awhile," Yoko returned from behind her desk.
"Been busy," Sasha returned. "And I'm about to become a whole lot more busy soon, so I'm hoping you have some good stuff for me."
"Here's the list," Yoko said as she sent Sasha her current stock.
A good selection since the last time she was here...
"While I'm here, mind confirming something for me?" she asked Yoko, who merely raised a brow. "Some kid approached me in Afterlife offering to do me programming work, dropped your name."
"Oh?"
"Said her name was Motoko and-"
"Ah! She made it to Afterlife already? Good on her!" Yoko said with surprising cheer.
"So you do know her?"
"Yeah, came onto the scene not long ago and already making a name for herself," Yoko confirmed. "Has done some impressive work for a newbie."
"So she does do work for you?"
"Yeah, mainly the busy debugging stuff no runner wants to deal with. She's good at that kind of thing, fast and efficient," Yoko said. "I recommend her if you got any hacks you want to clean up."
"Huh, I'll keep that in mind," Sasha admitted, her interest piqued.
"She's not a bad programmer of hacks neither, got a few if you want to check out," Yoko offered, bringing up said hacks. "Of course, I don't got the one she used during the whole marina job... being a personal hack and all."
"Marina job?" Sasha asked in confusion before her mind quickly put the pieces together, which wasn't hard given the only job in the news involving a marina later was- "She's the Laughing Man?!"
"She doesn't like being called that, but yeah."
Now Sasha was very interested.
