The battle raged on. The number of usable platforms that were available had been greatly depleted, with only Glacius', the one with the carnivorous animals, and the herbivores being the only ones remaining.
It was very obvious that the whole planet would be a ball of liquid molten rock in a matter of time. The five could only hope that Cloud would get there in time.
"The heat's messing with my targeting systems!" Tony noted, "Adam! Adora! What about you?"
"The heat is intense!" He-Man said, "But it isn't anything that I cannot handle. I'm more worried about Glacius."
"We all are, Adam." She-Ra said, as she and He-Man kept using their abilities to keep the lava from hurting the animals, "But we can't just give up!"
"I wasn't planning on it." He-Man smirked, "We have incoming!" He pointed to the Lava Serpent, about to strike at them before Bowser jumped out of the lava and hauled it away from the two.
"WE'RE NOT DONE YET!" He shouted, "YOU'RE NOT TOUCHING THEM!"
Glacius was concentrating, both on maintaining his frigid shell and on what he had sensed earlier, it felt primitive, but at the same time, somewhat innocent. As if-
He realized something. The Lava Serpent. Something on it was causing it pain. He couldn't communicate telepathically with the Serpent before, but he realized that this wasn't because of lower brain functions.
Far from it. The Serpent was in pain. Not from the assault from his friends, it was rampaging far before that, but something was causing it pain. He managed to signal down Iron Man before the fight escalated.
"Glacius. Did you need something?"
"Not necessarily me. But the Serpent. Something is causing it to rampage, and we need to figure out what."
"Woah, I just heard, or… Whatever telepathing thoughts is, what you just said, but what the hell are you talking about?"
"The beast rampaged far before our assault. Even wild animals do not do so unprovoked." Glacius explained.
"Hmm, worth a shot. I'll start scanning for any foreign objects." Tony said, "I'll get that info to the others, you just focus on staying alive."
"It feels as if that is all I can do right now."
"It's something at least." Tony said before taking off, "Alright guys. New objective: Glacius pointed out that this thing wouldn't be rampaging on its own, so we gotta figure out what's causing it to go nuts."
"ARE YOU KIDDING? THIS THING NEARLY CRACKED MY SHELL!"
"Perhaps we should at least look?" He-Man suggested, "It wouldn't hurt."
"SPEAK FOR YOURSELF! I'VE BEEN UP AND DOWN THIS BLASTED SNAKE AND HAVEN'T FOUND A THING!" Bowser replied over the comms.
"Well, maybe it's not on the Serpent, but in it." She-Ra suggested.
"Well, in that case, time to pull a Jonah." Tony said as he flew straight at the Serpent.
"Wait, Tony! That guy isn't exactly a role model!"
"Too late, Adora, he's already charging in!" He-Man pointed out.
Cloud looked up, "Why do I feel like Tony did something… So incredibly stupid?"
Within the Serpent, Tony's sensors were all on, and his lights were on the maximum brightness. The heat was intense, and he could feel his armor melting from it.
"Ugh. That that was dumb." He muttered as he started looking around and saw a curious hole in the stomach, "Well, at least we found what caused it to berserk. Time to figure out if it's a parasite or- AUGH!"
Tony turned around and saw that there was indeed a winged parasite. It resembled a mix between a mosquito and a pterodactyl only several times larger and with a much sturdier exoskeleton. That would be the end of it, but that it was carrying a strange crystal. Not only that, but that crystal was giving it power.
"If I had to guess, that doesn't belong to you." He quipped before he flew after it and fired at it, only for it to dodge out of the way and position itself near vital organs, "Smart bastard, huh? Well, I got news for you: You're up against an Avenger! This won't end well for you, you creep!"
He managed to pull off a feint and tackled the parasite and pushed it against the wall of the Serpent's interior, dragging it along and tore off one of the wings.
"Let's see you fly without those!"
"KRAAAAGGHHHH!" The monster screeched, before energy from the crystal flowed into the parasite's wings and started mending the damaged wing and regrowing the one that was torn off.
"Ugh. Should've figured that this wouldn't be easy."
Alexis: Tweet tweet chirp chirp tweet.
Pinkie: Yeah. I feel it too. Someone did something… Really really dumb.
Alexis: Chirp chirp tweet?
Pinkie: No… I don't think it was anything Wade or X did. It feels like something from beyond.
