Deku was pinned down. Why the hell he decided that getting on that message board while on patrol was a good idea was something that was dumb, even without hindsight. Whatever was shooting at him wasn't friendly at all, and he could barely make out what kind of ammunition it was.
"Good grief, if this keeps up, then things will only go from bad to worse." He muttered before turning back to his communication device, the last message after Homelander had denied any wrongdoing was Barbara stating that she was sending backup to his location.
He was wondering who could be sent to his location-
"Okay, what's the situation?"
"Omni-Man? Barbara sent you?"
"It was either me, or that pathetic excuse for a toddler, Homelander." Nolan grumbled, "Can we get this over with?"
"You seem… Agitated." Deku noted.
"I'm not agitated. This is just how I am." Nolan raised an eyebrow, "Either way, we also have to get information on these things, right? Wouldn't it be a good idea to just grab one to study?" He flew off to grapple the enemy.
"Nolan, wait!" Deku tried but it was too late. Omni-Man went in and grabbed a creature. Much to his surprise, the creature didn't fight back, if anything, it clinged onto his arm.
"Huh? What's going-"
*BOOM!*
"Ugh… That… actually hurt a bit…" Omni-Man groaned, "But it looks like they have weapons on them. Tell you what, kid: I'll keep taking the brunt of those explosions, or try swatting them away before they actually do blow up. You do whatever it was that you were here to do."
"Studying them was what I was supposed to do. Our surveillance cameras picked up some gunners that destroyed them a week ago." Deku responded, "Why'd they send you anyways?"
"No clue." Nolan shrugged, "Broly's available, same with Thawne and Wally. There's no real reason to send me over. Maybe they think I'll lighten up?"
Deku rolled his eyes, "Please. People know that you're lying to everyone, including yourself, when you call your wife a 'pet.' You've already lightened up."
"Incoming." Nolan deadpanned as he grabbed one of the enemies and flung it into space before it exploded.
"We could be helping Deku right now, but instead, we're just building a force field generator?" Wally asked as he and Thawne were both connecting steel plates and connecting wires to a tower system.
"I'm with Wally on this one." Korra added, "Can't we just sic Magneto and Tetsuo on whatever tries to attack us?"
"As much as I dislike the concept of being 'sicced' onto an enemy, Korra is right." Magneto pointed out, "Surely whatever might attack us will not stand a chance against mine or Tetsuo's might."
"No choice really." Zatanna pointed out, "With mine and Wanda's magic in flux, and Sauron and Lich King pretty much right next door, we need to be able to defend ourselves in case a zombie horde tries to attack. I thought of all people, you'd know how bad a zombie invasion would be, Magnus."
"Bear in mind that the list of people I will allow to call me that is a short one." Magneto replied, "That aside, I would much rather be helping that Midoriya boy. It can't be pleasant having to work with Omni-Man of all people."
"I can keep him from going berserk." Broly said calmly as he moved a large part of the device around.
"That's just it though. He hasn't gone nuts. Like at all. Never even got close."
"Maybe getting to use Homelander's head as a baseball helps him relieve stress?" Thawne suggested, "I haven't been around the guy that often, but still. He doesn't even seem close to snapping."
"I guess we shouldn't judge a book by its cover. Still, I wonder what makes him tick?" Wally asked.
"I think I've figured out what makes you tick." Deku said.
"What are you talking about?" Nolan asked.
"Why you're doing what you're doing. Here, at least." The young man explained.
"Enlighten me." Nolan snarled as he threw half a car at the new foe.
"You regret what you did to the Guardians of the Globe." Deku pointed out, "On some level, you didn't want to do all of that, and you can't take it back. So you make up for it by helping us instead of conquering us." He smirked.
"Is that so?" Nolan threw the other half of the car at a building, causing several of the enemies to fall to their demise.
"It probably helps that there's no Viltrum here to conquer for." Deku added as he also used his Blackwhip to pull a streetlight down on his opponents.
"Hmm." Nolan acknowledged, "You were here to study these things. What are they anyway?"
"Well, judging from the weapons, they seem to come from the world that Master Chief came from. But the explosive nature and the ammunition the weapons use is different."
"Huh. The only one of those that come to mind are those Saiyamen or whatever they're called from Broly's."
"Saibamen." Deku corrected, "And that's a good point. That energy they're using is definitely Ki energy or some variation of that."
"Makes sense why the weapon explodes with them too. It's powered by their energy." Nolan added before turning to Deku, "We have your data. Should I fly you back to base?"
Deku nodded as Nolan grabbed him and carried him off to safety. If he was fast enough, he wouldn't need to hail his frequency to be let in by the barrier.
Pinkie: This place is starting to drive me crazy! Can't a pony get a decent sleep around here?
Alexis: Tweet… Chirp… Chirp…
Pinkie: I know that things could be worse, but we won't be of any help if we can't rest and get our energy back up. For the Elements' sake, it's getting harder and harder to try and find some kind of bright side or something to be happy about…
Alexis: Chirp chirp tweet!
Pinkie: You're right, Alexis. I gotta keep my spirits up. Just a few deep breaths and I'll be ready to face the day again. *Inhale* *Exhale* *Inhale* *Exhale* *Inhale* *Exhale* Alright. I'm ready!
