"Mama, is there something wrong? You're usually a lot more on top of this." Nyu asked as she helped Yang off the ground after she had slipped on a rock that was much more drenched than it appeared.
"It's nothing." Yang brushed off, "I was just lost in thought."
"You're not a good liar, Mama." Nyu pointed out, "Come on. It's just the two of us."
"It's just… Tifa."
"What about mom?"
"I don't know!" Yang cried out, "It's just that… She's such a wonderful person, her series is memorable for the storytelling while mine is only really memorable for the fight scenes, and… and! And…" She broke down, "She's just so much better than me. All I am is just some blonde self-sacrificing hot headed idiot with mommy issues."
"What brought this on?" Nyu asked.
"I don't know." Yang shrugged, "I guess without everyone else teasing us about it or being supportive about it, I'm just scared that I was just some sob story that she took pity on."
"I'm pretty sure that's a zero percent chance of being the case." Nyu pointed out, "What really brought this on?"
"It's just… I'm scared." Yang admitted, "All this crazy stuff that's been happening, and all this rain's been making me go nuts. And… It makes me scared."
"You stared down Thanoseid and broke his leg. What the hell could you be scared about?"
"I'm scared that Tifa will realize that I'm no good for her. That she'll realize that she can do better and will." Yang sighed, "I can't tell you how many times I was tempted to just- OOF!"
Yang was cut off by Nyu hugging her tight, "Don't you ever say that again! Do you hear me?! Never. Again."
Even with the rain, Yang could tell that Nyu was crying when she said that.
"Sorry."
"No! Not until you figure it out!" Nyu cried, "We all love you! Everyone cares about you! Stop throwing your own life on the line for others!" She looked up, "Can't you at least do that for us? Our lives aren't bright enough if you're not in it."
"Nyu, sweetie, I know. But this kind of mindset isn't something that just goes away with some nice words. We gotta head back with our haul. Do you wanna play with my hair when we get back to the cave?"
Nyu looked down, "I guess… It's just… We like you in our lives."
Yang also looked sad. Self-worth was something she had trouble with, so while it wasn't easy to keep going, it was still nice to hear that she was still loved and brought joy to other people, "Still, I just think that I just bring misery."
"Then you do a bad job around us." Nyu said, "We're going back to the cave. You need mom's hugs stat!"
Yang sighed, "Alright. Alright. Just don't pull my arm so hard."
Beneath the waves, a creature lurked. Her tentacles slithered across the watery floor. The sharp teeth glaring at the prospect of herprey being taken away by these… Landwalkers.
Patience would be her friend. The landwalkers couldn't breathe underwater like she could. All in time, one of the landwalkers would slip up, and would fall into her gaping mouth of serrated teeth. Just one slip-up would be all she needed to devour those who trespassed on her hunting grounds.
This would not go unpunished. The one with yellow hair almost slips, but the one with pink hair saves her. Dammit. So close. If only there were a way to prey on this…
The bond they shared would end them. Slowly. By separating them, the landwalkers would fall. One by one.
A tentacle ensnared a fish and the creature devoured it hastily. Patience would be her ally.
"Mom! Mama's having self-worth issues!" Nyu called out as she entered the cave before adding "Again!"
"What? Yang! We've talked about this!" Tifa chastised as she was putting up the walls of an improvised door to keep insulated.
"I know! I know!" Yang groaned as she used her semblance to dry off, "It's just intrusive thoughts. It's nothing to worry about."
"Yang, death isn't cheap here. I'd rather not have you die at all, but at least back in our old universe, you wouldn't be gone for long." Tifa pointed out, "Now can you just tell me what's going on? What's with the sudden self-doubt?"
"I'd-"
*RUMBLE!*
"AND DON'T COME OUT UNTIL YOU WORK OUT YOUR ISSUES!" Nyu shouted from the other side of the rocky wall.
"YOU KNOW WE CAN JUST BREAK THROUGH THIS!" Yang called back.
"JUST TALK OUT YOUR ISSUES ALREADY!" Nyu shouted back, before she left in a huff.
"Why I oughta…" Yang pulled her fist back to punch through the rubble, but was stopped by Tifa, "Tifa, I-"
"Why don't you call me 'T' anymore, Sunshine?" Tifa asked, a bit hurt.
"I…" Yang faltered, "It's just… You're just…" She slumped down.
"Yang, what's wrong?" Tifa asked, "Why are you so upset?"
"I don't know, I guess… I'm just afraid." Yang admitted.
"Afraid? Of what? I've seen you stare down crazy maniacs. Both here and in your own world. What in the multiverse could you have to be afraid of-"
"You. It's you." Yang said.
Tifa blinked, "Me?"
"I'm afraid that I'm no good for you. You were practically the original waifu, Tifa. Pretty much every guy wanted to be with you, and you come from a story that's still fondly remembered to this day. What do I have? A couple good fight scenes, some pretty visuals, and an episode that people hate because I beat you." She sprawled out on her back, "I'm forgettable. You're not. You can do better than me."
Tifa picked Yang up and hugged her tight, "And out of everyone in the multiverse, I chose you." She squeezed a bit harder, "You're my sunshine, Yang. And it won't matter if other people forget you, because I'll remember you. So will Nyu, so will Cloud- wherever he is, and so will a lot of people. You're not forgettable Yang. Not in the slightest. And whether that's good or bad, that's for the future to decide, but I'm going to choose to focus on the good right now. You are a great person. And I want you to know that."
Yang stared off a bit before she started crying and hugged Tifa back. She stayed like that for a good amount of time until she felt like she was ready to pick herself back up and face the world again, "Thanks, T. I… I really needed that."
Tifa gave Yang a peck on the cheek before turning to the rocks, "Alright. Do you want to do the honors?"
Yang smiled and she punched as hard ash could, to dislodge the rubble
*POW!*
"Now where did that girl run off to-"
"Yang! Look!" Tifa pointed to a creature carrying away an unconscious Nyu in its tentacles.
Yang's eyes turned red, "Oh hell no! That thing is going to pay!"

Pinkie: You're right! If this is how things are going for us, then it must be really bad back home or in Shatter-World!
