Hey, everyone. It's been a while, hasn't it? Nearly four years since the last update, nearly ten since I posted the first chapter.
And we're only just getting to chapter two of the original game.
You'd think by now somebody else with a similar idea who was like, "Oh, I guess someone's already doing that," would have been like, "I'm tired of waiting, I'll do it myself!"
(Go for it, by the way. If you've been waiting for me to officially abandon mine, then consider this your notification.)
Just so there's some actual story content in here, I'm going to put a summary of what I had planned for this next chapter. And then the rest of the story in the same fashion, probably. This seems like the only way I'll finish in any reasonable time.
Part Two was to open with the Shadow Sirens preparing to ambush our heroes. I planned to have Finn and Vivian have this like epic duel where she nearly wins, but Beldam takes her out with a blizzard spell, blames her for screwing up, and calls for a retreat.
Finn gets a new crush, by the way.
On their way to the great tree they run into Punio, and he explains the situation at the tree, says he got chased out and locked out by the X-Nauts, and is seeking Madam Flurrie because he thinks she might be able to help find the tree's secret entrance. They all agree to help, and he leads them to Madam Flurrie's house.
The heroes retrieve Madam Flurrie's necklace along the way without knowing what it is or why it would be significant because they haven't met her or been told that she had lost it yet because I really just want to streamline the whole section. Also trying to write Vivian getting bullied made me feel bad for some reason? Anyway, they get to Madam Flurrie's house, she mentions losing a necklace, Goombella mentions they just found a necklace, the plot continues more or less as normal.
Anyway, they get into the tree, beat up some guards and begin the quest to rescue the KND Hamsters that live in the abandoned treehouse. There's another encounter with Ms. Mowz, Finn offers to give her the badge she gave them to help deal with Hooktail, she gives him another kiss and the key to the jail cell where the hamsters are being kept as that's not what she was looking for anyway, and she leaves.
They rescue the hamsters, the troops are rallied, and the campaign to take back the treehouse begins. And gets halted when they get trapped in a cage. Except for Goombella (and Jake, because he can squeeze through the bars), who gets to go off on her own little solo adventure for a bit and recovers a pair of KND ROKETSHOOS (Radically Overpowered Kinetic Energy Transfer System Hidden in Otherwise Ordinary Shoes).
"Well, someone was certainly having fun with acronyms." (Actual line of dialogue for that scene.)
Goombella puts on the shoes and proceeds to stomp some X-Nauts, rescue Finn and the hamsters, and then they head deeper into the tree.
They solve the puzzle to recover the Crystal Star, Lord Crump comes outta nowhere to swipe it, there's an epic chase scene, and then Lord Crump busts out his new GRAPLBOX (Ginormous Robotic Assisted Power Loader Battles Opponents eXcellently)
"Oh, okay, that's a thing with all Kids Next Door tech, then."
Lord Crump brags about how his robot has impenetrable defenses, the only weak spot is the cockpit, and even that would require a radically overpowered strike to do any real damage.
"I have an idea," says Goombella, "Flurrie, can you get me up there?"
"Of course, dear," Flurrie replies, and she carries Goombella up over the robot and drops her on top of it.
"EAT THIS, SUCKAAAAA!" she cries as she executes the most beautiful axe kick Finn and Jake had ever seen up to that point, smashing though the canopy of the cockpit and nailing Crump right in his smug face.
Lord Crump, who is somehow not dead from that, calls for a retreat, and ends up dropping the Crystal Star on the way out.
"How did I not kill him with that?" Goombella wonders. Finn shrugs and says "Dude's just too dumb to die, I guess." Then Finn collects the star and the hamsters celebrate because their ancestral home has been liberated.
Writing it like that was oddly refreshing. Assuming I can make time to do it, I could potentially finish this like this.
See you all next time, hopefully. (Don't get your hopes up, though)
