Chapter 534 Dark Demands

800 years in the future.
Simon, Bubblegum, Neddy, and Chicle were making their way back to Sanctuary, after visiting the Space Angel Kingdom and questioning Ghostfreak. Bubblegum was still very unsettled by what she had witnessed with Space Angel Princess trying to escape Ghostfreak and begging to be killed before her body got reposed by Ghostfreak. Just what kind of hellish messed up torture could Ghostfreak have been putting Soace Angel Princess through that she begged for death, when she couldn't escape from the monstrous villain? The thought made Bubblegum shudder. Chicle took notice of his cousin and asked if she was ok and she told him about what she was thinking about.
"Should we have tried to help Space Angel Princess back there? Like should we have tried to rescue or even end...her life?" Asked Bubblegum.
"Wasn't much we could do. If we tried to rescue Space Angel Princess, Ghostfreak would have gotten one of us and if we did try to kill her, Ghostfreak would have prevented any lethal or life ending blows from hitting his host. Ghostfreak wouldn't let anything happen to his favorite plaything." Said Chicle.
"Still it was messed up...and it didn't feel right not to do anything." Said Bubblegum.
"I know what you mean, but if we get you back to your time you can prevent that fate from ever happening to Space Angel Princess." Said Chicle.
"I...guess you're right." Said Bubblegum.
Neddy who was listening in decided to change the subject and ask Simon a question.
"So who do you think helped Malware and Ridley escape the dome?"
"I believe it was Black Hat and his organization that was behind the escape." Said Simon.
"The guy or runs a evil business?" Asked Bubblegum.
"The same. He's been a real thorn over the years and he has done some wicked evil deeds both for himself and for Gumbald. Most are for the sake of evil and profit other times his actions are part of a much darker plan. I hope that releasing Malware and Ridley was just to cause chaos and not part of some grander scheme, but I fear that's not the case and worse things are on the horizon." Said Simon with a worried look on his face.
The group continued on in silence, until they reached Sanctuary. When they got there they saw damaged buildings and a fair number of wounded residents being tended to. Betty, Eria, Marceline, Lucinda, Henry, Mavis, Marcus, Lilly, and Noah came rushing up to them with grave looks on their faces.
"What happened?" Asked Neddy.
"There was an attack, three enemies penetrated the barrier and set off some explosives." Said Betty.
"Was anyone killed?" Asked Chicle.
"No deaths, but a lot of injuries and property damage." Said Henry.
"Who attacked?" Asked Simon.
"A magic user called Thromnambular, the Green Knight, and Double Bubblegum." Said Noah.
"What did they want?" Asked Bubblegum.
"They took them." Whispered Eria in distress.
"Who?" Asked Neddy with a bit of fear.
"Our kids!" Sobbed Eria.
"Ezra and Nora?" Asked Neddy in horror.
Eria could only nod as she broke out in tears.
"Why...would they take...the kids?" Asked Bubblegum already knowing the answer.
"To get to you." Said Chicle.
"This was Black Hat's doing." Said Simon before headed to the palace.
Everyone followed Simon as he headed to his workshop and had G2 pull up a large tv screen used for video chats.
"We have a call coming through." Said G2.
"Put it on." Said Simon.
The screen came on showing what appeared to be some kind of lab. Gumbald stood alongside Black Hat and Ezra and Nora were chained up hanging from the ceiling.
"Hello Simon." Said Black Hat.
"Black Hat." Said Simon with a deep scowl.
"As you can see we have your precious grandchildren. I think you know where this is going and what we want." Said Gumbald.
"But first a little fun and a reminder of what can happen to these two innocent little children if you don't give into our demands." Said Black Hat.
"First a bit of a blast from the past. I'm sure you're all familiar with this little device." Said Gumbald as he pulled out a bubble creator and set it on it's 4-D setting.
"No." Said Bubblegum in dread as Gumbald created a 4-D bubble that turned into a black hole beneath Nora and Ezra.
The kids screamed in fear as the black hole pulled on them and the chain that held them. Horrible memories went through the minds of Bubblegum, Simon, Betty, Chicle, Neddy, and Eria as they had flashbacks to the day Bubblegum and Gumbald had a sit down to try and make peace and then Bubblegum's bubble creator she had brought to the meeting in an attempt to kill Gumbald malfunctioned and created a black hole that had almost sucked in and killed Neddy and Eria, when they were children, only to be saved by Finn and his great strength.
This however was much worse, since there were no heroes around to save the day and Ezra and Nora were at the mercy of two psychotic madmen who had no qualms about killing children. The scene seemed to go on for a eternity, but only lasted a few seconds. The black hole vanished and both Nora and Ezra were left hanging on the chain sobbing and wanting to go home to their parents.
"Let them go, Gumbald! Please I'll do anything! Just please let the children go and return them to their parents!" Begged Bubblegum.
"Oh no begging yet, there's still another thing we have to show you." Said Gumbald pointed one of his gauntleted hands at the area beneath the kids.
A swirling green time portal appeared beneath Nora and Ezra.
"Now I can send the kids another 800 years into the future or I can send them 800 years into the past. Both would be terrifying and very confusing to these kids." Said Gumbald.
"You've made your point." Growled Neddy.
Gumbald made the time portal disappear.
"Now get on your knees niece, I want to hear you beg." Said Gumbald.
"Please uncle! Don't hurt them, they're just kids! I'm the one you want! I'll do anything!" Said Bubblegum as she got on her hands and knees.
"Music to my ears." Chuckled Black Hat.
"Good girl, now we have an understanding. I want you to come and meet me at the outskirts of Gumbaldia and bring the Blurpleberry Supreme. I will meet you with the kids along with Black Hat and some of my other associates and I'll allow you to bring some of your people to hand the kids over to as you hand over yourself and the jewel over to me." Said Gumbald.
"Alright, I'll do...it." Said Bubblegum in defeat.
"Don't try to use that genie of yours, we have contingencies in place to stop her." Said Black Hat.
"Ok..." Said Bubblegum.
"One more thing." Said Simon speaking up.
"And what's that?" Asked Gumbald.
"A warning, if you harm my grandkids in anyway, I will personally put an end to both of you and your empire." Said Simon with a cold glare that could freeze a volcano.
Both Gumbald and Black Hat were momentarily stunned by this glare, but they recovered.
"Oh I like that look on you. The rage of the great Ice King! Oh I love it!" Said Black Hat.
"Calm yourself Simon, the fate of your grandchildren hang in the balance. I'll be seeing you all soon." Said Gumbald with a chuckle before the screen went blank.
Everyone was silent for a few moments then Neddy spoke.
"What do we do?"
"I'll tell you what we're going to do. We're going to save the kids and we're going to defeat Gumbald and his army. They messed with the wrong family and we're going to make them regret it!" Said Simon with determination and confidence.
The words lifted Bubblegum's spirits as Chicle helped her to her feet. Now was not the time for tears and worries. Now was time to plan and take action. Bubblegum was going to save her grandchildren, defeat Gumbald, and return to her proper time.
