Okay, I'll admit, I wasn't happy with the last attempt at this. I mean, the way I handled the two chapters of that version was atrocious, even though I was trying to branch out and show something different rather than skipping straight to the Raptors, even though this story is about them, but... eh.
This time, I'm not going to be vague of what type of Raptor the OC will become, though I'm surprosed nobody guessed this particular Raptor in the last version since it was a heavily requested one before. But anyway, the Raptor my OC, Jason grady, will become is... an Indoraptor.
Yep... it's back. I did it in the original, so I'm obviously going to do it again. What I'm not sure of is whether or not this story will go through the events of all three Jurassic World films, or if I go out of canon by the Jurassic World plot and have all Raptors survive, the Indominus killed, and Jurassic World not shut down. It's a little idea that's worming around in my head after reading some others that are similar in which the park stays open despite the incident and the Raptors survive.
Still debating it, so nothing's solid just yet.
Disclaimer: I do not own Jurassic Park/World. I only own the OC Jason Grady.
"Jason! Hurry up or you'll be late for your plane!"
"I'll be down in a sec, Mom!"
Jason Grady was a young, seventeen year old American boy, called back to his mother as he finished packing the last article of clothing he had chosen to take with him into a black suitcase. He closed it and zipped it up, nodding in satisfaction. However, he frowned as he checked his pockets, realizing something was missing.
"Where is... ah! There it is." He grinned as he picked up his phone from underneath his bed pillow. Pocketing it and all set, Jason left his bedroom with his suitcase in hand.
Jason had the appearance of a well-mannered, well fit and mature boy for his age. He had short dark brown hair, blue eyes that were often said to be as blue as the deep blue sea, and was dressed in dark blue trousers, a white short-sleeved top, a dark brown jacket with white hightlights, and a pair of black and white converse shoes.
The reason for Jason's packing and quick pace was because he had a flight that was taking him to Costa Rica, where he would be getting on a boat to go to the island known as Isla Nublar, home of the worldwide known theme park... Jurassic World. Yeah, he was going to an island filled with dinosaurs, what boy could say no to that? However, there was also a second reason he was going, that being that his uncle Owen worked there and it had been arranged that Jason would go stay with him for the duration of the summer holiday, as school had finished just last Friday, and it was now Monday.
Jason had to admit, he was excited. It would give him something to do, as he's been hearing many of his fellow classmates talk about what they'll be doing during the summer. Some say they'll be going overseas to the UK or other places in Europe, and he was sure he heard some mention getting trips to Jurassic World.
Coming down the stairs, Jason was met with his mother, Melissa Grady, a woman in her thirties with long dark hair and green eyes. She cut a stern image at the moment as she had her hands on her hips, looking at her only son with a raised eyebrow.
"Nearly forgot my phone." Jason admitted sheepishly, causing Melissa to sigh fondly.
"You boys and your toys." She grinned before checking her watch. "Taxi will be here soon to take you to the airport. You remember what we talked about with your uncle and how to get to the boat dock?"
"Yes, Mom. I know what to do." Jason rolled his eyes at his mother. "I'm seventeen."
"i know, but as your mother I have to make sure so i don't worry." Melissa said before chuckling. "God knows the trouble you'll get into because of your uncle. Owen always was a trouble-maker, well, used to be. I think your dad set him straight when they were in the Navy. But in all happier news, are you excited?"
"To see uncle Owen or real, breathing dinosaurs?" Jason asked cheekily, getting a look from his mother. "Yes, I'm excited. We've been planning this for weeks before school ended, and it's hard to believe it's came that quick."
"Time flies when you're having fun as the saying goes." Melissa shrugged before they heard a car horn beep, causing Melissa to open the door and see the taxi had arrived. She turned to her son and checked him over. "Alright, remember: listen to everything Owen says, except for when he's doing something stupid or says something stupid. And please, please... don't try to sneak into a pen so you can pet a dinosaur."
Jason clicked his tongue in annoyance. "Dammit, there goes my wish of getting to pet the T-Rex." He winced at the glare his mother gave him. "Joking..."
"You better." She pointed at him in warning. "The last thing I want is to lose you in such a way. You're all I have."
"I'll be fine, Mom." Jason assured her with a smile. "On an island with thousands of people, and various types of dinosaurs? What could possibly go wrong?"
Safe to say, those words are a curse to speak.
"Ladies and Gentlemen, this is your captain speaking, we'll be docking at Isla Nublar in ten minutes. Please ensure all your belongings are with you and prepare for departure in an orderly fashion."
Jason opened his eyes and sat up, having fallen asleep not long after getting on the boat that was going from Costa Rica to Isla Nublar. the journey wasn't long, as the island was 120 miles from Costa Rica, so it was three hour journey... and that was just because of good weather. Jason has heard the trip can be 3-6 hours long depending on the weather.
Getting off his seat, Jason grabbed his suitcase and went to the disembarking area like the rest of the passengers. However, most of them were leaning out to stare at the island they were going to, the island that was very infamous for the 1993 Jurassic Park incident, where several people were killed by dinosaurs after they broke free. And then there was the San Diego incident years after that, in which a T-Rex went rampaging through the town after being brought from the secondary island, Isla Sorna.
A few minutes later, the boat docked and the passengers began getting off. Jason held his suitcase around him as he walked, wondering where he'll see his uncle as he had phoned Owen to let him know he was on the boat, and Owen had said he would be waiting at the docks. However, as Jason scanned around for his uncle, he got surprised when somebody tapped his shoulder and he spun around in surprise only to see Owen's grinning face.
"Owen! Don't! Do! That!" Jason exclaimed, punching his uncle repeatedly on the shoulder. Owen just laughed before pulling his nephew into a hug.
"Good to see you too, sport! Haven't seen you since your seventeenth birthday." Owen said, pulling away and taking Jason's suitcase as they made their way in the same direction as the other people. "How have you been? How's your mother?"
"Probably getting ready to smack the hell out of you if you act 'irresponsible.'" Jason said jokingly, causing Owen to snort.
"that sister of mine..." He shook his head. "What about you? School's out for summer, and you're here on an island of dinosaurs. Any thoughts about getting a job?"
Jason shrugged. "I'm not sure. I mean, I want to go to college but I'm not sure what I want to do when I leave school."
"Well..." owen had a grin on his face as he directed them away from the direction of the monorail, with Jason seeing a motorcycle up ahead. "If you want, I can try and get you a place here, helping me out with my job."
"Wait, really?" Jason's eyes widened. "You'd have me work here at Jurassic World? But I don't even know what you do!"
"I'm a trainer." Owen explained, hopping onto his motorcycle and gesturing for Jason to get on. Taking the suitcase and making sure he held it tightly, Jason wrapped an arm around his uncle's waist to hold on before they gunned it in the direction of the park. "Trainers are assigned to deal with the dinosaurs they are chosen, well there's trainers for some, mainly the Triceratops, T-Rex, Ceratosaurus and of course... the Velociraptor."
Jason eyed him. "And let me guess... that's the one you're working with?"
"Yep!" Owen nodded proudly. "Four of them. All girls."
"Must be tough." Jason said, having read up on several dinosaurs and the one that caught his interest the most was the Velociraptor. They are intelligent, to the point they could possibly be smarter than humans. However, that made them ten times more dangerous, next to the fact that they were pack hunters. "So you're offering me to help you out in training them?"
"Yeah, it'll be fun. Just need to get you acquainted with them first." Owen said, shooting his nephew a grin. "Don't tell your Mom, though. She'll try and toss me to them if she finds out. But anyway, we'll get your stuff settled in before we go see them. But first... you're gonna want to see this view."
Jason's eyes widened as they came out of the woods and onto a road that gave a view of the park, from the monorail track to the lagoon, where he saw a Mosasaurus lunge out the water to snatch a Great White shark before pulling it down into the depths to feast upon, to the massive crowd in the main area.
"Woah..." Jason breathed in awe.
Owen smirked at his nephew's reaction. "Jason... Welcome to Jurassic World."
And I'll end it there. The next chapter will have Jason getting his stuff in before he goes to meet the Raptors. I want to take the time to formulate a bond between Jason and the Raptors before his transformation into one of them, which is something I didn't do in the previous version.
