He was devastated, he had failed to be accepted into UA's hero course. Not only did he fail the practical exam with 0 points, he was in constant need of rescue from other contestants throughout the entire length of the test. The exam result had arrived and dragged the boy from his dream of becoming a hero to the harsh reality that was his life. The result gave merit to All Might's words those months prior, that on the field a quirkless person would not be a hero but a liability.

With his dream now shattered the green haired boy had nothing else to live for and no idea of what to do with himself. Why not follow his childhood friend's advice to "take a swan dive off the roof and hope for a quirk in his next life." So, there he is on top the roof of a building saying his final goodbyes to the world, until he was no longer alone on the rooftop.

"...Izuku Midoriya,"

The startled boy turned to the right, to see a cloaked figure standing on the edge next to him staring out into the distance.

"...will you truly let them win?"

"W-w-who ar…"

The cloaked entity continued, "All that time, effort, and determination thrown down the drain?"

"And what have I accomplished to show that my life has not already been a waste!?" shouts Midoriya with a burst of angered confidence that left the boy surprised at himself.

"Such bravado for a boy staring death in the eyes." retorted the figure while still looking over the horizon.

Afraid to lose that spark of confidence in front of the mysterious figure the greenette pushed forward, "I-I-I… I should at least overcome my cowardice, even if just for my final moments."

The entity chuckled, "I'm happy to see that although broken your desire and will to become a hero hasn't been erased and still burns on within you. I have been amazed that through all the hardships in your life you still pushed forward in hope to reach that dream."

"What would you know about my life and my struggle for my dream?" asked Izuku to his companion.

"I've seen the lives of many and been present for all their final moments, past or present. And will continue to do the same for you and everyone else, present or future. As such, I can assure you that where many others fell, some to never stand again and others to their knees in surrender, you stood strong and continued onward toward your dream. Verdaderamente impresionante." The cloaked individual answered Midoriya,

"I know quirks can be weird and powerful, but you must be crazy if you think I will believe that you were at everyones death. Who even are you to claim such a story?"

The entity chuckled once again, slowly turning to face the boy while lowering his hood, before going on, "Like I said, such bravado for a boy staring me in the eyes!"

Izuku was frozen in place as his dullen emerald eyes looked straight into cold blood red eyes that promised death. That feeling of death, dread, and fear only grew within Midoriya as he took in the rest of his assaliant's wolf-like features: pelt of thick smooth gray fur swaying in the rooftop breeze, pointed ears alert for the slightest sound, a snout filled with sharp canines ready to tear into flesh, amidst the fangs a tongue twitching in anticipation for the taste blood, and all was intensified with the wicked snarl of a predator ready to pounce on its prey.

The prey that was within arms reach. The prey that was a young teenager with bushy green hair, freckled face, and emerald eyes. The prey that was Izuku Midoriya. Prey which stood petrified before its predator.

However, as Midoryiya's body was statue stiff, afraid that the slightest movement, even a single twitch of the muscles, would unleash the wrath of the beast before him. The boy's mind ran a mile a second trying to decipher who or what was the monster before him. For, something deep inside decided that discovering the identity of the beast before him was his escape from an immediate demise.

As the years passed, Izuku processed the night's events for clues and details that revealed his hunter's identity. So the questions came: When did it appear? Was its arrival connected with what he was about to do? What was said in their conversation? How could it be at everyone's final moments? Why change "death" to "me," if it was reiterating its previous comment? Why were there flashes of his life appearing before him? When would a person see such flashes? Then the answers followed: Appearance with when he was about to fall to his death. The final moments in someone's life are the last things done before their death. That life flashes before the eyes of a person when they are in front of their death. Then it all came crashing together, the one thing that connected everything together, the one word that kept repeating in his mind. He was in front of…

"Death," the boy muttered.

"Hit the nail right on the coffin. Well, to be more exact I am el Lobo De La Muerte," chuckled Lobo in response, as he backed away from Midoriya. Releasing the teen from his petrified state and allowing Izuku to take the much needed breaths of air to continue walking in the land of the living. Breaths that his body had rejected to intake moments prior.

"Lobo De La Muerte?" question Izuku, surprised that his muttered reply had been heard and much more that it had not resulted in his death.

"Oh right, you don't know spanish. My apologies, allow me to reintroduce myself, I'm the Wolf of Death."

"Wolf of Death," repeated Izuku.

"That's me, though you can just call me Lobo, chico."

"So, you really are death?"

"Straight up."

"Then you're here to take my life, but shouldn't I already be dead with the century that has passed?" Midoriya questioned.

"BWUA HAHAAHA! No me jales la cola. Century… haha, no it's only been a couple minutes, kid." wheezed out Lobo after gaining control of his laughter.

"What only a couple minutes!? But, I… oh, I see nevermind."

"Bingo. I've got to say that that mind of yours keeps impressing me. The wide array of notes you have taken about heroes' quirks, how you anticipated and prevented the captured sludge villain from falling out of All Might's pockets when you held onto him, and now deciphering my identity while confronted by a petrifying aura of death. But I digress, as for the reason I am here, I have an offer for you, Izuku Midoriya."

"Offer… What kind of offer?" Midoriya asks, curious of what death itself has in store for him.

Lobo reaches within his cloak and withdraws a pair of sickles, handles pointed at Izuku, "Take these and I will give you power, my power. Power you, Izuku Midoriya, will control and use as best you see fit."

"But why me? This offer is wasted on someone like me."

"Listen chico, your life has been full of pain, sorrow, and fear. And I want to bestow this winning hand to replace your current losing one. The hand given and chosen by this ever growing quirk obsessive society. Where having a powerful quirk is the be all and end all while the rest, the "extras," are thrown out to the wolves. Take the sickles, become death, protect the innocent, punish the guilty, and live your life to the fullest."

"You don't seem to like society?" Izuku inquires, dumbfounded by Lobo's speech.

"No, no I don't. Not with what it has become and allows to occur. Those with weak, 'villainous,' or no quirks forced to suffer and struggle to live. Coerced to feel worthless, pathetic, and useless, many decide to take their own 'swan dives.' Numerous lives not lived, just thrown away and wasted. I despise it when life goes unappreciated, even more when some cat in boots feels immortal and laughs in the face of death." Lobo snarls out near the end. Yet oddly enough lets out a soft chuckle at the mention of the cat.

After recollecting himself, Lobo speaks up, "So, Midoriya what will it be?"

Izuku stares at the sickles in silence contemplating what his decision should be. But once recalling what he was about to enact and the things that lead there. It was not difficult for Izuku to determine what he would choose. As Izuku reached out to take hold of the opportunity before him, a pause.

"And the catch?" Izuku asks.

"Aaah, the catch," Lobo continues with a grin appearing on his face, "It's very simple, I want you to complete three simple tasks."

"And those tasks are?"

"One; hunt down Japan's number one villain, All For One. Two; destroy the quirks All For One and One For All. And finally three; save a girl named Eri from the villain Overhaul." Lobo lists off the tasks Midoriya will need to accomplish to retain the power he will be given.

"If it's not too much to ask, but may I know why you want these things done, and can I get more information?" Izuku questions with a hint of fear, having noticed the spike of bloodlust at the name of Overhaul.

"Well, I want this dealt with since much like Puss, All For One believes he is all powerful and that nothing can stop him, not even death; the quirks I mentioned have become a nuisance for my work; and the girl is continuously being killed and resurrected by that bastard with a bird mask."

"WHAATT, You want to save her yet you're here wasting time talking to me," exclaims Izuku in disbelief of what he just heard.

"If I could I would have done so already," Lobo snarls back at Midoriya's outburst.

"And what has you on a leash all mighty "wolf of death," Izuku retorts.

"I could either take her life as a show of mercy or assure that Overhaul's death was painful and slow. But, all that would accomplish is steal an opportunity to live or leave a little traumatized girl to fend for herself. I only have influence over death; when, how, or if someone dies, nothing else. She will need someone to console and raise her, a family, I can not provide that."

"Oh…."

At that moment a deathly silence was shared by Midoriya and Lobo, as they retook control of their emotions. That silence soon ended when Izuku took a firm grasp of both sickle handles.

"Then what are we waiting for? Give me the power to save that little girl." Izuku says with a burning passion in his eyes.

At the sight of Izuku's determination Lobo could not help but smile and say. "Very well, now I will fuse the power into you and you will wake up in your bed. Your new abilities will come naturally, so don't worry about how to use it. Oh, and before I forget some of my characteristics will also mix with your personality."

"Shouldn't you have mentioned the personality thing when I asked about a catch?"

"Must have slipped my mind, Goodnight chico."

"Slipped yo…" before Izuku could protest any further, darkness filled his eyes as sleep overtook his body.
