Chapter 1-Leaving to find him
Daryl's P.O.V
Daryl Dixon sat in the woods staring at the river. It has been four months since the death of his brother, Rick Grimes. He blew himself up to save the rest of them from a horde. Daryl sat there staring at the river. "What was I thinking?" Daryl asks. Daryl blamed himself for what had happened to his brother. He should have never gone after Negan, if he had listened to Rick, they wouldn't have been trapped in that fucking hole, and he wouldn't have had to lure that herd away, and they could have stopped the fight at the lumber camp. That is why he was out here, he was looking for Rick, but he couldn't deal with the pain. Seeing that river wondering each day if that was the day he was going to find him as a walker.
So he sat staring at the river. He hasn't found Rick's body. "Maybe he is alive," Daryl thought out loud and then shook his head. "Maybe he is," Daryl stood up and grabbed his crossbow and bag, and then walked towards his bike.
Alexandria
Daryl drives his bike into Alexandria and turns it off. He looks at Rosita as she closes the gate and looks at him. "Anything?" Rosita asks, and Daryl shakes his head.
"Michonne? Carl?" Daryl asks.
"With Judith," Rosita answers. Daryl nods as he walks away. He walks towards Michonne's house. He knocks on the door, and Carl opens it.
"Hey," Daryl says softly.
"Hi," Carl says.
"How are you?" Daryl asks.
"I'm alive," Carl says . "You find him?"
"No," Daryl says. "Can I come in?"
Carl nods as he opens the door wider and lets Daryl in. Daryl walks into the living room and looks at Michonne. "I came to say goodbye?"
"What?" Michonne asks.
"I've been out there for four months. The only thing we've found is his gun," Daryl says as he looks at the colt phyton Carl had in his holster. "Gabriel mentioned a damn chopper, and Anne was gone the same day. Maybe she took him, maybe someone found him down the river and took him, maybe he's alive, and maybe he's not. What I do know is that I'm not going to find any answers at that fucking river. If he's out there, dead or alive, I'm gonna find him."
"Even if you don't, will you come back?" Carl asks.
"I hope I decide to," Daryl says. "I'm sorry."
"You don't need to apologize," Carl says as he hugs him. "You belong here. I know it, and so did Dad."
Daryl nods as he hugs Michonne and leaves, and Carl follows. He walks Carl as he watches Daryl. "Carl," Daryl says, making Carl look at him. "You're the future of this place, of all of the communities. I know it, and so did your Dad. I hope you prove us right," Daryl says before he walks towards his bike, leaving Carl on the steps.
"Dixon," Daryl turns around and looks at Abraham Ford. He was in the lineup when Negan killed Glenn Rhee.
"What?" Daryl asks.
"You going to Hilltop?" Abraham asks.
"I will be," Daryl says.
"What are you doing here?" Abraham asks.
"Saying goodbye," Daryl answers. "I'm leaving after I talk with Carol and Maggie."
"Good luck, Daryl," Abraham says. Daryl nods as he climbs on his bike and leaves.
Kingdom
Daryl drives his bike into the Kingdom and stops his bike, and climbs off. He looks at Carol as she walks up to him with a smile. "Hey," Carol says as she hugs him.
"Hey," Daryl says.
"Anything?" She asks.
"No," Daryl says. "I just spoke with Carl and Michonne."
"About what?" Carol asks.
"It's been four months since the bridge, and we have found nothing. Maybe Rick is alive, maybe he isn't. But I know he isn't at that river. I'm going to leave. I'll search the entire damn country if that is what it takes to find Rick," Daryl says.
"Daryl, you don't need to do this," Carol says.
"I do. I owe it to Carl and Michonne, to Judith and their unborn child, I owe it to everybody who has died, and I owe it to Rick," Daryl says. "You're gonna be okay. You belong here with Ezekiel and Henry. I'm going to be okay. Who knows, maybe I'll run into Morgan out there, but I gotta do this. I gotta find him."
"I know," Carol says as she hugs him. "Let us get you some supplies, food, water, ammo, and fuel."
"Okay," Daryl says. They load two bags of food, water, and ammo onto Daryl's bike and strap a gallon of fuel to it. Daryl shakes Ezekiel's hand. "Take care of them."
"I will," Ezekiel says. Daryl nods as he hugs Carol.
"I love you."
"I love you too," Carol says as she kisses his head.
Daryl nods as he climbs on his bike and leaves the Kingdom.
Hilltop
The gates to the Hilltop open, and Daryl stops his bike by Barrington house. He looks at Kal. "If anybody touches this bike, I'll have their hands," He tells Kal, who nods as Daryl walks inside. He walks up to the door of Maggie's office and pushes it open. Maggie looks up from the letter. "You're here. Have you given up your search?" Maggie asks as she sets the letter down.
"No," Daryl answers. "I haven't found him here, so I'm leaving. Gonna search every part of the country to find Rick, dead or alive."
"You can't leave," Maggie says. "He's still alive, and someday, he will want to live again, and we have to kill him."
"No," Daryl says. "We made a mistake, Maggie. We never should have gone after Negan. Rick's gone because of that. Carl, Judith, and that baby won't have a father because of what we did. I'm going to make up for it. I'm gonna find Rick, give them some peace or give them their father back. I'll stay out there for as long as it takes," Daryl growls. "You should take a look at what we did, talk with Michonne and Carl and start to make up for what we did, give up the revenge," Daryl says. "I hope that when I see you again that you're better, Maggie. Stay safe. I love you. Bye," Daryl says before he leaves the office. He walks outside to his bike and starts it. He drives towards the gate. He looks back at Maggie, who is standing on the porch. He drives out of Hilltop. He turns onto the road and drives. The wind blows through his hair as he drives. After three hours, he saw the Virginia sign, and he continued to drive and starts to go southwest.
Abraham's P.O.V
Abraham drove a truck into Hilltop and stopped it. He looked at Maggie as she walked down to him. "I have a message," Abraham says as he holds it out to Maggie, who takes it and reads it.
"She wants to see me? What is she, my queen?" Maggie asks her.
"You owe this much, at least, for what you did," Abraham says as he starts to walk past her.
"What I did? You knew Glenn? You would have never met us if not for Glenn."
"Yeah, I know he didn't want that."
"What about Daryl?"
"What about him?" Abraham asks.
"You all seem to still treat him like a part of the family."
"Because he is making up for what he did, he knows he made a mistake, and he left his family to bring Rick back," Abraham says. "Go see, Michonne," He says before he walks away from her. He walks up to a trailer and pulls it open. He looks at Sasha, who is talking with Jesus.
"We'll talk later," Sasha tells Jesus, who nods as he leaves. "What are you doing here?"
"Brought Maggie a message from Michonne. I wanted to see you," Abraham says. "It's all over. I want to fix things between us."
"Okay," Sasha says with a smile. "Dinner will be done soon. Would you like to stay?"
"I would like that very much," Abraham says.
Michonne's P.O.V
Michonne sat on the porch and looked at Scott as he ran up to her. "Maggie's here. She won't come inside," Scott says. Michonne nods as she goes to the gate and sees Carl and Enid waiting for him. Enid had returned after Rick had blown himself up. Michonne pulls the gate open and walks out. "Abraham stayed?"
"I imagine he is talking with Sasha," Maggie says. "What am I doing here?"
"Until you get your shit together, until you get your head on straight and stop this revenge against Negan, and apologize for what happened to Rick. Until you do all that, Hilltop and Alexandria will not trade, they will not work together, and Alexandria will continue to work with the rest of the saviors, Oceanside, and The Kingdom, but until you do what I have asked. Alexandria will not work with the Hilltop. Figured I should tell you in person," Michonne says. Maggie stares at her as Michonne turns around and shuts the gate, and Maggie climbs in her truck and leaves Alexandria.
Abraham's P.O.V
Abraham and Sasha sat at the table eating. Both of them were just talking with a smile on their face as the door was thrown open. They both turn around and look at Maggie. "Get out," She growls.
"Maggie, what's going on?" Sasha asks.
"Michonne has ended all interactions between Alexandria and the Hilltop. You need to leave now,"
"I'll go," Abraham tells Sasha softly. "Give us a minute," Maggie nods as she leaves.
"Did you know?" Sasha asks.
"I did not," Abraham says as he grabs her hand. "Do you know the field in between Alexandria and Hilltop, just north of here, the clearing with the large grass?"
"Yes," Sasha says.
"Meet me there in three days," Abraham says before he kisses her. "Please," He says before he leaves the trailer.
Daryl's P.O.V
Two days later
Daryl sat by a campfire at the edges of Alabama. He stared at the fire as a branch broke. He stands up and raises his crossbow at a woman who raises her hands. "I saw the fire," She says.
"Drop your weapons," Daryl growls. She nods as she throws her gun and knife on the ground. "You alone?"
"Yeah," She says, and Daryl motions for her to sit down. He pours some beans into a bowl and hands it out to her. "Thanks," She says as she takes the bowl.
"What are you doing out here?" Daryl asks.
"Looking for my family," She says.
"When was the last time you saw them?" Daryl asks.
"The start of all of this, I was with a group, and I had lost my father, and I left, and I kept driving," She says. "I found another group, and I lost them a couple of weeks ago."
"So, who's in the group you left?" Daryl asks.
"Friends,"
"How do you know they are alive?" Daryl asks.
"I don't," She says. "But I need to know, they were in California last time I saw them, but I'll check every state down here, seeing if I can find them."
"I'm trying to find someone too, my brother," Daryl says. "I'm Daryl Dixon."
"I'm Ofelia, Salazar," Ofelia says as he holds her hand out to Daryl, who shakes it. "You looking for a partner? We're both looking for our families."
"Need someone to watch my back," Daryl says. "Yeah, we'll work together."
Ofelia nods with a smile.
Thanks for reading. A lot to talk about. Glenn was the only one to die in the lineup. Ofelia never joined the tribe, so she never died. How they got out of the Ranch will be explained later. Rick blowing the bridge up when the same way. Carl, Abraham, and Sasha are alive. Sasha never died in that coffin. Fear the walking dead's story will take place just after the midseason finale of season five. The walking dead is four months after Rick blew himself up. As always, suggestions, ideas, and feedback are welcomed. Until next time.
