Everything was wrong.
Nerves invaded his body, he had made a mistake with Giratina, the criminal was another one.
Pablo Gaspar, Mew's chosen one had made a serious mistake and soon he would have to talk about it with his creator.
He had believed the accusations of a young girl, who not only pointed out where Giratina was, but also believed the big lies she had invented. He, together with his empress, Alix Koroterna, had believed in that liar and after bringing Giratina to divine justice, they had proclaimed her as the heroine of the town.
But it was only three years after the tragedy that the truth came out. Everyone now knew about it, even Arceus and Mew learned that they made the mistake of believing her testimony and triggering Castafer's fall into darkness. Lesly didn't go to justice because he took his own life before paying his charges, he wasn't going to end well anyway so he passed the problem to others.
Pablo was grounded, he was going to talk to Arceus in person for the first time and it wouldn't be for something good. Being Mew's chosen one brought him many difficulties for many years, success had barely knocked on his door and knowing that for sure his mistake would bring him a horrible consequence, scared him.
He heard a meow behind him, turned around and immediately his eyes were filled with happiness and his heart with a bit of relief.
He inched toward the pink clad creature—Mew! Oh, I'm so glad you're here!
—Are you all right?
Mew looked at him with serenity and affection, he spoke to him telepathically; Mew is not allowed to speak human language with his real voice, so he uses telepathy with a voice similar to what we know nowadays as computerized voice commands.
The man swallowed hard —No! I'm not well... I'm scared, Mew... This is all my fault!
—It's not your fault, you didn't betray Giratina
—But I believed her, it was in my power to take her testimony or not... Or worse! I could have used the gift you gave me! I had the chance to speak from his heart and understand him Ah but no! I decided to believe her and take it for granted that he was pure evil with no chance of that being a lie!
Mew could have called his attention for that attitude his student was taking, it was supposed to be unimaginable for a human to talk like that to his god and Pablo knew it perfectly well. However, he could see in his eyes the anguish and terror he was feeling at that moment.
So with the same serenity and affection, he approached his student and rested on his head to hug him from there.
—Calm down my boy... It is also partly my fault.
Pablo only kept silent and then his eyes were soaked with small tears that became as abundant as waterfalls, he tried to hide this by putting his hands on his face, but it was very evident.
—But I was the one who believed in it— He expressed with regret between sobs— I don't want to cause the premature cancellation of your project... Not like this.
Mew kept silent and then stroked the man's wavy and soft red hair —It's ok, it's ok, it's ok... I talked to my father and from what I could observe, he will be totally straight and cool—headed, his decisions will be far from any impulsivity, so take it as an opportunity
Pablo paused and wiped his tears with the sleeve of his clothes, trying to calm his breathing and anguish —All right... I'll take this opportunity.
—That's the way to do it! —Mew exclaimed with joy, although the fake voice sounded funny. Mew squeezed and gave words of encouragement to his chosen one for a while, then he looked at the sunset and knew it was time and his student didn't take long to realize it.
—And how will I talk to him, face to face, through my gift or otherwise?
—It took a lot of convincing, but I managed to get you to talk to him in person face to face, after all you are my chosen one in any case. The diplomatic talk will be a little far away from the village, far enough so that no one will bother you, after all, you are already a famous star! And talking to Arceus just adds more to the mix.
The man nodded resignedly, his nerves a little calmer but not his anguish diminished.
Mew placed a hand on his forehead and thanks to his divine power, he ended up leading both of them to the destined place. It was a field, far enough away from Michina to be able to see the small-sized houses of the village. The breeze hit their faces and the grasses succumbed to the way the wind moved them. On the surface everything was calm, but it also made Pablo uneasy and fearful.
Mew guided Pablo through that beautiful field, and it wasn't long before they reached their destination.
Mew stopped dead in his tracks.
Pablo looked around —I don't see anyone.
—My father likes everything to be done before he even asks for it, you will make a good impression by arriving early.
Mew came down again face to face with his student and tenderly took his cheeks and spoke to him —I trust you will do well, you are a man with a good heart, I chose you for that... Never doubt the potential I saw in you. Now kneel before your almighty and supreme one, because when he arrives I want him to see you as the deep devotee you are.
Mew shook Pablo's hair amicably, flew away and then disappeared through his teleportation.
Pablo was left completely alone, he looked around him because at any moment Arceus was going to arrive, the god to whom he had dedicated his whole life and for the first time he would be able to talk to him in person.
He knelt down and placed his chest completely on the ground, hiding his face with his hands that were intertwined as a form of supplication and in a low voice, almost in the form of a whisper he began to pray to his god, a prayer that he himself had made. He had practiced this for years, waiting for this moment ever since Mew took him under his mantle completely upon being cast out of his home.
He heard a portal open in front of him, he already recognized those dimensional noises thanks to Mew, but that didn't stop him from praying.
When he finished, only the ambient breeze was the only thing that could be heard, until the Almighty being spoke.
—Your request for mercy will be granted, however, I do not guarantee that it will be approved
— The voice was loud and strong — Get up, I want to meet you face to face.
Pablo got up as carefully as possible, wiped his uniform to remove the dirt from the floor that remained impregnated, and adjusted his blue cloak and his gold medal.
When he was standing up straight, he still had his eyes closed —May I see you, my lord?
—Yes, I want to see you in your entirety.
Pablo opened his eyes, with shyness and nervousness little hidden at the moment of the act.
—Those qualities are dangerous when I talk about humanity, especially the ambition part that can be used for the most disgusting thing about your kind and I imagine you know what I'm talking about.
—Emmm... Yes, you are talking about our tendency to manipulation and opportunism that we develop thanks to our intelligence, but no elemental power of our own... Then yes.
—Correct, as I was saying, those strengths usually lead to what I abhor the most, however, you surprise me by using that to seek the good; whether or not perfection is what you seek to share, it is already an achievement that it is for the betterment of your species and not for yourself as the main goal, perfection only adds extra points— Arceus smiles a little, without removing his gaze that measured the weight of the events like a scale.Arceus continues as he pulls Pablo close again—All right, chosen one, I'll let Mew pursue his project and you start your own legacy.
Pablo's eyes light up and his joy immediately overflows —R-Really?
—Yes, but it will be under certain conditions, something like a contract.
—You don't worry, I'll accept anything, my glorious and Almighty adored one— Pablo clasped his hands together as he used to do when praying or to make his gift work, and his eyes lit up more than ever.
—We will both be conditioned and benefited. You will enjoy exercising the role Mew gave you and I will let you create your own blood legacy, I will give certain preference and consideration to anyone bearing your surname more than any human living, for I know that the lives of your successors will be subject to serve and worship me.
Before the human could breathe a sigh of relief and feel at ease, Arceus places his hand on his shoulder—What I ask in return is that each of your people be a true example for humanity in conduct, morals and image, however, despite the preferences they will receive, never forget what they will always be, humans. That includes that anything beyond the sight of a priest before their gods is forbidden because they are still inferior, except you, because of Mew more than anything else, do you understand?
Pablo nods with a big smile, shaking his head up and down quickly.
—No big deal, right? Just the basics — Arceus pats the human's shoulder in a friendly way and he nods again.
—The conditions are not at all difficult to meet, my lord! Don't worry, I'll do my best to make my descendants an example to follow, I'm working on my twelve year old son to be an exemplary successor and Mew has helped me a lot.
Arceus rolled his eyes for a moment, it seemed ridiculous to see that Mew was so involved in this even before it was confirmed that his project could continue —Appreciate it, none of my creations compare to Mew and knowing that he is even helping to forge a new generation certainly gives me signs that he is exceptionally fond of you, I'm sure he will continue to be so. I guess he sees something that I don't for now.
As a farewell, Arceus bows his head slightly without removing his serious and imposing face, Pablo bids him farewell with a complete bow and then watches as the almighty disappears from a portal.
As soon as the deity left, Pablo could not help but scream with euphoria, shout incoherently and jump up and down in the grass. As soon as he was able to calm down a bit he immediately took out his notebook that he had in a pouch around his waist; he always carried this notebook to write down anything from the personal and mundane to things that had to do with his path as a priest or divine discoveries.
He likes to write the rough draft and the first fresh memory of what was happening in that notebook and then transcribe on parchment in a neat and tidy way, for he knew that someday those documents would be part of history, proof of his legacy and perhaps, be of use to a future successor.
His son was going to be a priest, since he was a little boy he accepted that responsibility with pleasure and Pablo was sure that his descendants would too.
The conditions were not difficult, on the contrary, it was more what they would receive than what they would give. Since Mew came into his life he has received more than love, peace and tranquility in his most difficult moments, they both see a family in each other.
He was building the solid foundation from which "Archestianism" would stand and Mew was helping him with that not a bit to his liking his methods, but he doesn't question his results either. The empress was more than willing to help him, she had him as a royal advisor, friend and spiritual guide.
Everything was perfect and would remain perfect in the future, so what could happen?
