Chapter 118: Bad Guys
Time passes...
"Did you see yesterday's episode of Yaiba?" Genta asked, he, Mitsuhiko and Conan were turning the corner of a side road. "A whole bunch of Kamen Yaibas showed up. I didn't know who..." he was cut off when a horrified scream was heard from the house nearby.
In the said house...
Both Hirasawa Seiko and Hirasawa Kaori tumbled down the staircase.
With Conan and the others...
Finding the gates unlocked, Conan flung the front doors open and saw the two women at the bottom of the staircase.
"Who are you kids?" Kaori stopped the three boys.
"Thief!" Seiko shouted and sending all three boys fleeing.
In the house...
"Honey." Kaori called out to Hirasawa Ryoji who was cleaning the rug at the top of the staircase. "Are you really more concerned about the rug than our injuries?"
"I'm very concerned about your injuries." Ryoji replied.
"Son-in-law, hurry up and bring the first aid kit and treat us." Seiko ordered.
In the playground later...
"It's the Hirasawa's son-in-law." Ayumi supplied, the boys spotting Ryuji exit a nearby supermarket, arms full of groceries. "People were gossiping about them in my neighborhood. The Hirasawas used to own a lot of land around here. They still own the Hirasawa Building, Hirasawa Apartment, the Hirasawa Parking Lot and Hirasawa Farms."
"Now I think of it, Auntie Mako been invited over to the Hirasawa Farms for the last three months to give baking lessons on weekends." Fumio recalled. "From what I heard, the Hirasawas are a rich family that owns a whole bunch of other properties, too."
"Their son-in-law originally worked at an insurance company that did a lot of business with the Hirasawas." Ayumi added. "He married their only daughter after a formal meeting. At first, people said he was after their money, but they still treat him like a servant."
Ryuji then walked past the playground and tripped over the tile pavement.
The kids ran over to help pick up the groceries that had fallen over.
In front of the Hirasawa house...
"Please take care." Fumio requested, the children having escorted Ryuji back home.
"Honey, how far did you go to get groceries?" Kaori demanded from behind the front door. "You're late."
"Son-in-law, do the laundry before making dinner." Seiko instructed. "Don't forget to clean, too."
"I feel sorry for him." Ayumi muttered, the group hid behind a lamp post as they watch both Seiko and Kaori head out for a jog when a screech of a car skidding was heard and a black sedan crashed into the mother-daughter pair before driving off.
"Call emergency services and the police." Conan instructed the others and chased after the hit-and-run driver on his Turbo Engine Skateboard.
"I require one ambulance." Fumio made the call.
"I'm going to tell the son-in-law." Ayumi ran into the house.
"So, you kids are the witnesses." Takagi approached the children after Seiko and Kaori were taken to hospital.
At the hospital...
Conan managed to tranquilize Hasegawa Kinue before she could turn off Seiko's IV tube.
"Who are you?" Ryuji entered the ward.
"That lady was trying to remove her IV tube." Conan explained.
"You shouldn't be here." Ryuji chided. "Get out."
"Okay." Conan sighed and hid behind the metal bed post. "I was trying to remove her IV tube." he used his Voice-Changing bowtie to imitate Hasegawa's voice.
"Is this really the time to close your eyes and analyze your own behavior?" Ryuji scolded. "Or are you closing your eyes so you can reflect on your actions? No, you're closing your eyes and dreaming; dreaming of the day the Hirasawa family fortune is ours."
A startled Conan bumped his head on the metal bed frame and alerted Ryuji of his presence.
"Kid." Ryuji glared. "You were eavesdropping on our conversation, weren't you? You never should have come here, kid. I hate to do this, but..."
Seeing the immediate threat, Conan fled the ward, only to be caught by Hasegawa and bundled into a laundry cart.
With the other Detective Boys...
"So, Conan-kun went after the culprit's black car?" Takagi confirmed in the police car.
"We haven't heard from him, though." Fumio nodded.
"I'll have to wait for Hirasawa Seiko-san and Hirasawa Kaori-san to wake up so I can gather information from them." Takagi referred to his police notebook.
"It's that car." Genta exclaimed, spotting Hasegawa's car in the hospital's parking lot.
"Conan-kun must be in this hospital, too." Ayumi added.
"The Detective Boys Badge..." Fumio heard Conan's voice coming from the badges' speakers.
"Call the police immediately." Conan instructed. "The Hirasawa family's son-in-law and a woman from the insurance company are working together to seize the Hirasawa family fortune. They need to be arrested immediately."
"Conan-kun, where are you?" Mitsuhiko asked.
"You're inside some dirty sheets?" Ayumi echoed.
"I'm in a laundry cart in the first-floor hallway." Conan replied.
"I just heard the elevator." Fumio recognized the elevator chime. "Don't tell me they're going to..."
"A man and woman believed to be the culprits have kidnapped a young boy and are heading to the roof." Takagi coordinated the rescue operation.
Right after Ryuji tossed Conan over the railing, the rescue team managed to inflate an air bag right underneath him.
"Arrest them." Takagi ordered, the rescue team giving confirmation that Conan was safe.
