Confused feelings!

Maxwell is lying in his jacuzzi, sipping a cognac. After they had arrived home, he first tucked in sleeping Gracie. Maggie and Brighton retired also pretty tired of their rooms. Maxwell doesn't feel like he could fall asleep yet. He tries to relax, but his thoughts keep circling around a certain brunette.

She seemed happy. He knows he should be glad for her, but again the nasty feeling of jealousy is nagging at him. With an uneasiness, he thinks about tomorrow. Even though he is looking forward to see Fran again, of course she would appear with Nigel and then he would be forced to see them together. Watching them as a happy couple was something he could disclaim. He catches himself coming up with different ideas to avoid this situation, for example, maybe with a fake meeting? No, he couldn't do that. It was the children's last eve before their trip. They would be terribly disappointed if he would sneak away.

"Please, dear God, let a miracle happen and let Fran show up tomorrow without Nigel!"

Immediately after he spoke out this wish, he feels rotten and mean. His mind travels back to Fran. He wonders what she is doing right now? Was she already asleep?

Fran doesn't sleep yet. She just comes out of the bathroom in a fluffy bathrobe. She also took a bath after her arrival at the hotel. Now, she makes herself comfortable in front of the television. What is Nigel doing for so long? She feels lonely. She thinks about Maxwell. Was he already asleep?

She is looking forward to see him and the kids tomorrow. She zapps through the channels. "Oy, only trash!" Annoyed, she turns off the TV and goes to bed. In her dreams, a British gentleman with a gray streak appears.

"Brighton, give me my Discman, now!"

"Niiileees! Where are my new shirts?"

"Daaddyyyy, where are our tickets and passports? I will better not sit next to Gracie on the plane! She's always throwing up!"

"Baaaaah, not at all! You're stupid!"

Maxwell startles out of his sleep. Grrh, what the hell does that noise come from?! He just had such a wonderful dream! Grumbling, he gets up. Three kids preparing for vacation was a real ordeal. He slips into his robe and yankes open the door.

"Can you keep it down, kids? You really should start acting more like growns up. Get ready for breakfast and then you can finish packing your stuff in a calm and orderly manner. Margaret, please come to my office later. I'll give you your travel documents."

All three immediately fall silent and stare at each other with a meaningful expression. What was going on with their father?
