Chapter 2: Attracting Danger
THE NEXT DAY
"Keiko? Keiko honey you're going to be late for school. Are you up?"
Her mom said, knocking on her door.
"Keiko?" the door slightly moved open.
Her mother went in but saw no one in the room.
"Oh, she probably left," she stated, a little concerned though that Keiko could've told her that she was going to leave early for school.
"Honey, did you happen to see Keiko before she left?" Mrs. Yukimura asked her husband who was getting ready to open the restaurant.
"Keiko? No, I didn't see her at all this morning. Did she leave for school already?" Mr. Yukimura asked.
"I think so. She's nowhere upstairs." Mrs. Yukimura stated.
"Well, maybe she left early and didn't want to wake us up." Mr. Yukimura assured his wife.
Mrs. Yukimura returned a smile and helped her husband set up the tables.
AT SCHOOL*
"Now, the same reason why this equation is.." A teacher infront explained in class.
"Hey Ayame, Keiko didn't show up again huh? Did she call you?" A female classmate whispered.
"No. Not a message." Ayame responded.
"Is she sick or something?" Another female classmate asked.
"I don't know. I don't think so. She was completely fine yesterday." Ayame said in concern.
Mikuri was close to their seat, he can't help but eavesdrop on the conversation.
"Keiko.." he whispered.
AFTER CLASS*
Mikuri was standing against his locker while staring at his cellphone screen that displayed Keiko's phone number, which he quickly acquired, courtesy of Ayame.
He thought briefly for a moment, before dialing Keiko's number.
He listened as the phone rang.
But disappointment spread across his face when an operator stated that the number was now unattended.
Mikuri tucked the phone in his pocket and walked down the hall.
The room was warm and quiet. The rays of the sun were shining through the glass window.
'she should be okay by now' he thought, as he sat there with eyes locked into the woman sleeping on his bed.
Her cuts were mended. But the bruise on the corner of her forehead was still showing.
She had been asleep for some time now.
Although he was sitting so still across the bed, deep inside, he was filled with guilt and regret, knowing he could've prevented this from happening to her.
To be fair, he came just at the right time to save her from the worst that could happen.
Still, it was his fault, to begin with.
Had he not shown up, she wouldn't have ended up in a dangerous place.
He was hoping she'd wake up soon. She needed to eat too.
But did he really want her to wake up sooner? Was he ready?
Though it has been a while since he left, he still could never prepare himself for what questions she may have, or what she might do in the next minute.
He wondered back to what happened the night before when he caught her attention.
What could she be thinking at the sight of him? What kind of thoughts could be running through her head?
What did she feel? Hate? Anger? Resentment?
Sure, she was more than surprised. That's a given.
Then he remembered how his heart started shattering into tiny million pieces when he saw her tears falling.
In all honesty, he didn't really think she would see him.
'Stupid street light acting up for no damn reason!' he thought.
Yes, it wasn't his first time standing outside her house, looking after her, making sure she was okay.
He felt like the biggest jerk on the planet for leaving her like that.
Not to mention, finding out how broken she was when he got back made him a coward to not face her, for that matter.
He broke her. And he knew that.
He didn't like what he had done. But he needed it to happen.
So there he was, carefully gathering up the strength to face her, as he watched her from afar every single night, for the past two months.
It wasn't until recently, that his conscience started eating him up when he decided to call her number, surprised she hasn't changed it ever since he left, gave him a sigh of relief.
But was he also relieved that she didn't want to change boyfriends?
Nothing irritated him more than guys hitting on her when he was watching from a distance.
He wanted nothing more but to beat the crap out of those jerks who even think they stood a chance.
But then again, he was also a creep, given he's basically stalking her. "Nah, this is different" he once thought.
And then there was Mikuri. Yusuke was no fool, in fact, he wasn't really someone anyone can ever fool at all. And beating the crap out of Mikuri was definitely on his to-do list, for a good reason.
His thoughts were interrupted when he heard Keiko whimper.
'She must be waking up' he said to himself.
Yusuke had been fighting all kinds of monsters and demons all his life, and he did not once feel a hint of nervousness or fear, compared to what was in front of him.
He was not scared of Keiko, not in that way.
He was scared of what she would say, or do as soon as she wakes up and sees him.
Could she decide she didn't want anything to do with him anymore?
That's a possibility that Yusuke knew would be the death of him.
Could she tell him she never wanted to see him again?
Yusuke didn't know.
All he knows is that nothing can ever prepare him for what is going to happen as soon as Keiko's eyes start to open.
He wanted to apologize.
Apologize for what he did.
Apologize for what happened to her because of his actions.
Apologize for breaking not only her heart but her life entirely.
And most importantly, apologize for not being there when she needed him the most.
But how can he say all that in a way she would understand?
After all, he decided to leave without a second thought.
It seemed all too easy for him.
How can he tell her that it wasn't what it seemed?
How can he make her understand his truth, after all this time?
'Ow' was the first thought that crossed her brain.
The pain in her head was throbbing, it's as if it was cracked open.
Slowly, her mind started gathering the bits and pieces of reality.
'What's going on?' she thought as her body made an effort to move, commanding her eyelids to pry open, to no avail.
Where was she? The last time she checked, she was someplace dark, and filthy.
There were men who tried to harm her. Where were they?
Why was the environment suddenly peaceful? And quiet?
Why does it feel like she was laying comfortably on a soft, warm bed?
She was laying on a wet concrete floor, with thousands of broken glass all over.
The air doesn't smell of urine and garbage compared to where she was last night.
The air smelt good, fresh, and minty, like peppermint. It was very relaxing.
As her eyes slowly started opening, she tried to make sense of a figure sitting on the bedside.
But her sight was blurry.
Figuring she was still dizzy from the hit.
She couldn't make out who it was, nor was it a male or a female.
'It is a person for sure' she thought.
It didn't look like the guys from last night.
They were big, old, and disgusting.
Whereas the person sitting on the bed wasn't anything like that. Far from the ugly description.
Feeling as if she was about to throw up from her dizziness, she gently closed her eyes and placed her hand on her head, as if trying to stop the pain.
She moaned. "Ouch, my head is going to kill me." She thought.
"Where am I?" She asked, hoping to hear an answer from whoever was watching her.
But she got no answer.
"What happened?" She asked again. Trying to focus on gathering her strength.
Suddenly, she felt a warm, muscular hand touch her cheeks, and another hand above her own, on her head, where the pain was coming from.
"It's okay, you're safe. I'm here".
That voice. Her heart suddenly froze.
And in a flash, all of the memories from last night, before she was harmed started racing through her mind.
That voice!
The figure she saw outside her window started coming back to her.
Remembering the man she had followed and searched for outside, the reason why she ended up where she was before passing out.
That voice.
The one that she had been waiting for all this time.
His voice.
Slowly, her eyes started to open.
But her tears had already betrayed her before she could even see him clearly.
"Keiko.."
"..."
"Kei-"
Without hesitation, without a doubt, her lips had pressed against his, in a heartbeat.
His worries increased as Keiko seemed to be hurting, still.
He panicked for a moment, perhaps she needed to take something for the pain.
As he observed the girl, he could tell she was struggling to open her eyes.
It was her hand that started to move, holding the wound on her head.
He was a fighter, he knew a blow to the head was one way of surely beating your opponent.
But Keiko wasn't a fighter, this injury could've been worse, if it wasn't for his powers.
He had transferred some of his spirit energy last night, saving her from the worst that could happen.
Her eyes opened slowly, and she looked around slightly, taking in her surroundings.
She looked at him, but she couldn't recognize him.
'She must be having a hard time focusing.' he thought, pointing out the obvious.
He could tell she was doing her best to see.
She winced in pain, and her eyes crunched as she held her head.
"Where am I?"
She asked.
He was sure he was going to answer her, but for some reason, his voice got caught up in his throat.
"Crap!" he thought as he failed to respond to her question.
"What happened?" She asked again.
He felt sorry for her. This was his fault.
He already caused the pain she was feeling inside, and yet, he still became the reason for the physical pain she was in.
How could he face her?
Hadn't he caused her enough pain, already?
He figured he should start off by saying how sorry he was.
But where to begin?
She winced again as she dealt with the annoying wound on her head.
This time, he cleared his throat and moved closer to her as he placed his hand on her cheek, gently caressing her soft skin.
This touch. The feeling of her skin he had missed so much.
This was his way of making her feel she was safe and protected.
And for a second; male pride was suddenly present, knowing the fact that he was the only person she ever allowed to touch her like this.
He placed his hand on top of her own, as she held her head to ease the throbbing pain.
"It's okay, you're safe. I'm here". Was all that he could say as she moaned in her breath from the pain.
His voice was nervous, and full of worry.
And the room fell silent.
Looking at her, he sensed that she could tell who the voice belonged to.
He sensed her body stiffened, and her heart started pounding loudly in her chest.
For a moment there, he thought she was going to tell him to stay away, yell at him, or slap him across the face as he could feel her body tensing up at the sound of his voice.
He wanted to prepare his ears in case she would scream.
He wanted to prepare his heart for officially breaking on her command.
He wanted to prepare for whatever kind of emotion she would throw at him.
He was sure that sweat had started to form on his skin as the seconds ticked by.
But all of a sudden, her cheeks were wet with tears as her eyes flew wide open.
And before he knew it, she had buried a kiss on his lips.
And then the time suddenly stopped.
Debating whether he was real or not didn't matter to Keiko.
There's a chance she might still be unconscious.
Dreaming.
After all, she hit her head. Didn't she? Or was that a dream too?
Honestly, dreaming about Yusuke Urameshi definitely wasn't a first, not for her.
Yusuke Urameshi.
That name.
It was the first time in years ever since she had mentioned his full name, not even inside her brain.
Yusuke Urameshi will always be the name on her lips.
Saying his name out loud felt like home.
And if he wasn't real now, it didn't matter.
If she was delusional, so be it.
This was her peace. Her comfort.
If this was a dream, then let it last.
But what if this is real?
What then?
Wanting to make sure, she slowly broke the kiss, gasping for air.
She opened her eyes once more.
And there he was.
She could feel his warm breath hit her skin, as he was only a few inches away from her face.
His muscular arms were wrapped around her body, holding on for dear life.
His warmth, his scent, all surrounded her at once.
His eyes.
His eyes dug deep into her own.
'He is real,' She told herself.
"Yusuke.." Keiko cried.
"I'm here, Keiko" He returned, as he gently cupped her face, catching her tears with his thumb.
Having lost the ability to speak, Keiko buried her face into his chest, as she sobbed uncontrollably, pouring her heart out.
Yusuke gently stroked her back, accompanying the action with a shushing sound.
"It's okay. I'm here now. I'm not going anywhere." He assured her.
It took all of his strength not to let the tears in his eyes fall.
God, what could he have done to deserve her?
He didn't deserve to be loved like this.
Not by her. Not by Keiko.
He was selfish, childish, and an idiot for treating her the way he did.
He definitely didn't expect this specific reaction, it was the total opposite of what he had prepared himself for.
He surely wasn't prepared for this one.
The woman he loved the most was finally in his arms.
She was his again.
And right then and there, Yusuke promised himself that he will never let anything get in the way of their relationship again. Not ever. Not even himself.
Keiko's cries were painful to hear. Although it wasn't a loud, ugly cry, quite the opposite actually.
It was a silent cry, with nothing but hurt and sorrow coming out of her whimpers.
All the years of agony, and turmoil was pouring down the drain.
Yusuke kissed her hair, as she sobbed on his shirt, still not moving.
But just as he did, he felt his cheeks wet.
A tear escaped from his eyes, realizing just how much pain Keiko had been through all this time.
"I'm so sorry, Keiko." He began.
"I'm so sorry for what I put you through."
Keiko didn't move away from him, nor did she stop crying.
Instead, her hands gripped the cloth of his shirt tightly, as if telling Yusuke she already accepted his apology the moment he came back to her.
Yusuke broke his embrace and gently lifted her chin up so he could scan her face.
She was so beautiful. The only beautiful thing he knew to ever exist in his life.
He gently wiped her tears away with his thumb, still not taking his eyes off her.
"I love you, Keiko." He told her.
"I love you so much" He added as he pulled her face to his, and locked her with a deep, passionate, desperate kiss.
He was real. She wasn't dreaming. She thought.
As she gave in to his hungry kisses, slowly losing herself with the warmth of his mouth, and the feeling of his soft lips against hers. This was him. This was Yusuke.
Yusuke.
You saved me from completely losing myself forever.
I love you, too.
Even if Keiko had protested, Yusuke insisted on bringing the food to the bed so she didn't have to get up.
It wasn't exactly clear who broke the kiss. But the need for air was getting too hard to ignore.
Keiko sat back on the bed, allowing herself to feel the warmth and comfort of the soft mattress, pillows, and sheets.
Yusuke went into the kitchen, bringing back a tray of food for his beloved.
Eyeing the plate of food, Keiko's stomach began to rumble, not realizing just how hungry she was.
Yusuke took the bowl of ramen in his hands and slowly brought the noodle-filled chopsticks to her mouth.
"I am perfectly capable of feeding myself, you know?" She reasoned.
"Just eat." Yusuke didn't care. He wanted to do this for her.
"How's your head?" He asked, handing her a cup of hot tea. Her favorite tea. He still remembered.
"Killing." Keiko answered as she took a sip, allowing the hot liquid to warm her insides.
She smiled as she smelt the aroma. Ginger, Lemongrass Tea. She gave a thankful look to Yusuke and he smiled back.
"Let me get you something for the pain" Yusuke stood up and left the room.
Keiko watched as he walked, studying his frame.
His face was the same.
The handsome, innocent face that always belonged to him.
The same big brown eyes, that had the power to stop the time with its beauty.
His still, slicked-back, jet-black hair that had always been his style.
His smile; the same enchanting smile that meant the world to her.
He has gotten taller.
More muscular.
His muscle tones were visible even if he was wearing a plain T-shirt.
Maybe he has been training hard, while he was away.
Who knows what he could've been doing in the demon world?
Keiko's imagination raced to images of Yusuke fighting demons after demons, never stopping.
Never-ending.
It made her want to throw up, just thinking how much Yusuke had also been through.
Fighting has always been his passion.
He's good at it. Very good, in fact.
Her memories brought her back to the dark tournament when she first saw him as he really was, fighting demons.
He was in his element.
He was happy. He was finally himself.
He didn't belong to the mundane world they grew up in.
Being a spirit detective suited him.
He was purposeful. But it wasn't what he really was supposed to be.
And then there was Sensui.
She remembered when she first saw him in his full demon form.
He looked different, but he seemed more himself than he ever was.
It was like seeing the true Yusuke Urameshi.
Yusuke is a demon, a direct descendant of his demon ancestor, Raizen.
Not to mention, he was royalty. A Prince.
And he had responsibilities.
This was exactly the reason why, three years ago, Keiko didn't stop him from what he wanted to do.
The same exact question she had been asking herself every day.
Why didn't she stop him from leaving?
Truth be told, she didn't have the right to do so.
Why would she stop him from finding himself? From finding his own purpose?
Who was she, to do that?
She was just Keiko.
A normal, human girl who was in love with the Mozuku Prince.
She had no right. It wasn't her place to stop him.
Her thoughts were interrupted when Yusuke walked into the room.
Sensing that Keiko was lost in her thoughts, he wondered what kind of questions were going through her head.
Yes, they needed to have a conversation. He reminded himself.
But was now the right time? Probably not, seeing as Keiko was injured and her recovery was his priority.
But she was obviously waiting for an answer to her silent questions.
Hmmmm. What to do?
Yusuke sat down on the bed, beside her.
"Here, let me help you." Holding the bowl and feeding her down to the last bite.
She took the pill, after the meal. Hoping the small tablet would do the trick.
Keiko felt stuffed as she leaned against the headboard.
Yusuke took the tray off the bed and placed it on the bedside table.
"Get some rest, you need to recover." He commanded as he tucked her under the warm blanket.
Keiko didn't say anything, not taking her gaze off him.
Sensing her eyes locked onto him, he smiled.
"You know if you keep staring at me like that, you might as well take a picture"
"I'm just trying to find out if I'm dreaming or not." She replied.
Yusuke stopped and took a deep breath.
"I know you want to talk. But you're unwell. You need to gather your strength first." Looking at her, this time.
Again, she was quiet.
Yusuke was silent, but before he could say anything, Keiko finally responded.
"I don't want to sleep. If this is a dream, I don't want to wake up and find you gone. Again"
Her eyes gleamed as tears were starting to form in her eyelids, threatening to fall.
Yusuke understood and he didn't dare question the emotions she had.
Slowly, he leaned in to kiss her, drawing her near.
"Don't worry." He assured.
"Here. why don't I sleep with you." He stated as he helped Keiko fall back into the sheets.
Keiko softly smiled as she settled across his chest, drifting asleep to the sound of his heartbeat.
The rhythm brought her back to the familiar sound of its beating.
Her favorite sound in the entire world.
"Yusuke." Her voice echoed in the silent room.
"Hmm?" He responded with eyes closed, as he caressed her back, allowing himself to relax to her warmth, her presence that he had craved, for a long time.
"I love you." She said as she examined his sleepy face.
Yusuke opened his eyes, finding Keiko with a soft smile playing on her lips.
"I love you, too." He replied as he planted a soft kiss on her forehead before pulling her close into a warm embrace.
It was 8:00 PM when Keiko decided she had enough strength to go home.
She wasn't exactly ready to tell her parents that she had spent the day with Yusuke.
Not that it wasn't okay. This was Yusuke, after all.
But it would just raise many questions, she herself, wasnt ready to answer.
As they walked down the moonlit streets, hand-in-hand, Yusuke kept examining Keiko, making sure she was okay.
"So, how have you been, Yusuke?" Keiko started.
Here it goes.
"All the same. To tell you the truth, Keiko, I've been back for two months now."
"What?" She stopped in her tracks as she asked in disbelief.
Yusuke halted, not surprised by her reaction.
"Yeah, I really meant to show up the first night." He said, looking down at the ground.
"But then, I saw you…"
"I saw how you were. How much I broke you when I.." He continued.
Again, Keiko was silent.
"I admit Keiko, I became the biggest coward when I realized how big of a mess I made."
"I wanted to regain the strength to face you. But I was scared."
The great Yusuke Urameshi? Scared?
"I couldn't. I couldn't show myself easily. Not to you, because of what I put you through."
Keiko was silent for a while.
"You're back. You're alive. That's all that matters." She said in the darkness.
"You're okay. That's good enough for me." But was he really okay? Who knows what he's been through? She wondered.
Keiko's feet were the first to move as they continued their path.
"Does Atsuko know?" She asked.
"Not yet. I knew she'd tell you the moment she finds out I'm here."
"Does Kuwabara know?"
"Yup. He kept pushing me though. Saying I should come and talk to you before it's too late."
Confused by what that meant, she asked "Too late?"
"Yeah." He responded.
"He said there were many guys trying to hit on you. He said if I didn't tell you I've returned then you might have gotten yourself a new boyfriend if I let it go on."
Keiko humphed. "As if that's gonna happen."
"That's my girl." Pride flashed across Yusuke's face with her response.
"Which reminds me," Yusuke added.
"That new guy at your school."
The image of Mikuri's face flashed in Keiko's mind.
"What about him?" She asked.
"Stay away from him," Yusuke demanded.
"There's something about him I don't like. I just can't put my finger on it."
This wasn't a request based on jealousy.
He wasn't threatened by Mikuri's presence, nor did he think Mikuri had a chance with her.
Mikuri was definitely hiding something, and if anything, it involved Keiko's safety, given he was eager to have her company.
"Okay Yusuke." Keiko responded. Never dreaming of questioning his decisions. She knew Yusuke wasn't joking around. If this was what he wanted, it meant there was something bigger behind it, bigger than what she could imagine.
There was a brief moment of silence before Keiko asked.
"How was Demon World treating you?" She wondered.
"Well, Raizen had passed on several months ago, before the tournament had begun."
"I'm so sorry to hear that." Keiko sympathized.
"Thanks. His strength just gave in. With all the years of hunger he endured. He finally had his peace."
Confused, she asked. "Hunger?"
"Yeah, well. He didn't want to eat humans anymore. Ever since he met my ancestral mom who was human."
Picking up, Keiko finally caught up with the topic.
"So then I got busy with the tournament. The winner gets to rule Demon World for three years."
"And then what?" She asked.
"And then it's going to happen all over again. To determine who's gonna be ruling demon world next"
"I see." She responded.
What he said had her thinking.
It's going to happen all over again. Does that mean he's not staying here for good? Was he going back?
Keiko quickly brushed her thoughts away not wanting to deal with that possibility.
He's here now. And that's what's important.
"I lost by the way." He said, cutting her thoughts.
"You did?"
She couldn't believe he lost.
He was strong and capable.
Not that she was disappointed or anything, but she remembered Koenma, Boton, and Kuwabara mentioning something about Yusuke being an upper S-Class Demon.
"Yup. I lost to Yomi. I gave it my all. But it wasn't enough, I guess."
"Yusuke.."
"It's funny, we both were supposed to lose at the same time. But he heard his son call to him, and that made him stand his ground, and I fell completely."
Keiko looked down on the ground, the situation playing in her head.
"It made me wonder though," Yusuke added as she waited for what he was going to say next.
"What if you were there?" Yusuke wondered as he was looking at the night sky.
Keiko was silent, her cheeks warm and red.
"What if you were the one who called my name? Could I have won and Yomi didn't stand a chance?"
He stopped, turning his gaze on her.
"I missed you." He expressed.
Keiko almost choked on her throat.
She wasn't expecting the statement.
Her cheeks burned red, and her heart felt like it was going to burst out of her chest.
Yusuke smiled, and continued on foot.
She watched his back, studying his frame.
He was in a pleasant mood, with his hands tucked inside his pockets, like he always would have.
Seeing him just like this warmed her heart.
He was home. And she was happy. Finally happy.
She smiled in admiration, and quickly caught up to his side.
"Careful" He said as he chuckled.
Keiko wondered, "What would happen if you win?"
"That's gotta be a different story. And, in a way, I am glad. I have no idea how to rule, let alone run a stupid kingdom." Yusuke commented.
"I'm sure you'll figure it out" Keiko argued with brows furrowed.
Yusuke laughed,
"Heh! I'm not like my girlfriend. Man, she can be a great leader! Bossing around so much, while being girly and all! "Oh! I'm the student president and I like to be bossy, I like wearing skirts and waving pink pom-poms!" He mocked, in a silly high-pitched voice.
Keiko softly punched his arm and giggled at how he was making fun of her.
"You dumb boy." She commented, looking at the empty street ahead, a smile never disappearing on her lips.
"But hey, how are you doing at school?" He asked.
"Good. I'll be graduating in 3 months. I'm a Summa Cum Laude, "she replied.
"For real? That's awesome!"
"Yup!"
"What will you do after that?"
"Honestly, I have no idea. There are many opportunities waiting for me. Several jobs have offered me a position."
"But why aren't you enthused?" He responded.
He knew her like the back of his hand. She didn't seem happy.
"It's just. I don't know if that's what I want to do." Yusuke felt the exhaustion behind her response.
"So don't do it. Take a breather and pause until you figure it out." He said.
Keiko looked down on the ground.
He's probably right. She thought.
"I'm just worried, what if I can't figure it out sooner. What's going to happen then?" Keiko sighed.
Yusuke understood what she meant. She didn't want to disappoint the people around her, especially her parents.
"But you know," She added.
"There's only been one thing that I've always wanted the most. The one thing I've always been sure of."
"What's that?"
Keiko looked at him, locking her eyes into his.
"I want to spend the rest of my life with you, Yusuke Urameshi."
This caught him off guard.
Her tone was serious, and determined. As if she had already decided her fate. And she chose him.
This was his Keiko.
Man, what did he do to deserve her?
He loved her so much that it hurts.
He held her hand, and slowly brought it to his face, as he planted a kiss.
"Me too, Keiko." He replied, pulling her close.
As they neared her house, they walked in silence.
Both cherishing each other's company.
"Thanks for walking me home." Keiko said as she bid him for the night.
"Get some rest. I'll see you tomorrow." Yusuke replied.
But as Keiko turned and walked away, Yusuke suddenly pulled her back and sealed the night away with a burning, passionate kiss.
"Goodnight, Yusuke."
"Night, Keiko."
Yusuke watched as she went inside the Yukimura household.
Ensuring she was safe and inside the house, Yusuke's mood changed in an instant.
His face dim, and bitter.
"What do you want?" He asked in the air.
There was silence for a moment.
"You better come out if you plan on living through the night." His voice was steady, and annoyed.
A creature suddenly emerged from the darkness.
It was a parasite demon.
"Man, you really are good! No demon had ever sensed me before" The small demon regarded.
Yusuke was not amused by the compliment.
"You picked a perfect timing, parasite! I've been wanting to put my fingers around someone's throat since this morning and boy, am I glad you showed up!" Annoyance still spread across his face.
As if sensing that the Mozuku Prince wasn't someone he can sway compliments with, he started.
"I bring a message, from my Master Kageyami. He wants to do business with you, Yusuke Urameshi." The demon proclaimed.
"Whoever it is, you can tell him I'm not interested." Yusuke retorted.
"This wasn't a request, Urameshi. You can meet him at this address. He expects you to comply, or there will be consequences." The demon warned, as he slowly disappeared into thin air.
Leaving behind a small piece of card with only an address written on it.
Yusuke slowly walked and picked up the item.
'This is just in the city.' He thought as he read the card in his hand.
He wanted to throw the card away, but it seemed that this wasn't something he should ignore.
It was obvious that he had been spyed on for a time now; for a parasite demon to know his whereabouts, and the people he cares for are already involved.
Kageyami? Who the hell is that bastard?
It was the first time Yusuke heard of the name.
Pointing out the obvious, Kageyami was definitely not a normal human, as he had a demon minion to do his business for him.
But was he someone Yusuke should watch out for?
Yes, he was already a threat.
A threat to Keiko's safety, not to him.
He cannot take this lightly, just like that.
So he put the card inside his pocket and started walking his way home.
With a deep sigh, he wondered "What now?"
Could this just be a new chapter in his life?
Another monster that he had to deal with?
What did he want?
Why now?
