Chapter 518 Plans and Decrees

800 years in the future.

The Omni Transport was making good time getting to Sanctuary. Bubblegum was filling optimistic about her changes of returning to her own time. She and the others had successfully recruited the freed territories and Zimtopia to their side giving Sanctuary a better chance to stand up against the armies of Gumbaldia. The little misadventure to the remains of the Fire Kingdom and the small talk with Phoebe made Bubblegum want to return to her time and make amends for what she did as well as use her knowledge of the future to help other and prevent tragedies. A lot of people's hopes were riding on this and a lot of effort had gone into giving Bubblegum a chance to return to her own time and she planned not to waste it.

Bubblegum was hanging with Simon, Lucinda, Lance, and Henry discussion battle plans and how to best use their new allies and resources, when she decided to get up and stretch her legs. She walked down the hallway of the vehicle and just happened to look in on the bathroom to see Neddy putting on a shirt and immediately saw that her son had a few dozen faded scars across his back.

"Neddy! What are these?" Asked Bubblegum as she walked into the bathroom.

"Oh those old things. I got them...from when, me and dad were captured and held captive by the Infernos." Said Neddy as he quickly covered himself with the shirt.

Bubblegum was a bit disturbed by this and she felt angry about never asking her son about the physical wounds that were left behind during that dark time in his life.

"That's terrible!" Said Bubblegum.

"Mom it's ok. It...happened a long time ago and Eria and Betty helped get me through it." Said Neddy.

"You and your father should have never been put into that kind of situation. I was the one at fault and you both paid for what I did. I'm...so sorry for that." Said Bubblegum as she felt her eyes begin to water.

"Mom...you don't have to blame yourself for what happened. The Infernos were a really bad group of angry people seeking revenge. They still would have come after me and dad, even if you were around." Said Neddy.

"Well I promise you When I return to my time that I will do everything in my power to make sure the Infernos never form and cause trouble for anyone. You and your father are going to live long and happy lives." Said Bubblegum with a determined look in her eyes.

"Thanks mom." Said Neddy as he eyes begin to water as well and the two of them hugged.

The Omni Transport soon arrived back at Sanctuary where the group of heroes were welcomed back. Marceline and Lance warmly greeted their kids Mavis and Marcus, Lucinda and Henry were greeted by their children Noah and Lilly, Chicle was greeted by his mother Lolly, Simon was greeted by his wife Betty, and Neddy was greeted by his wife Eria, and his children Ezra and Nora. It was a happy little reunion that put a smile on Bubblegum's face.

After some greetings and catching people up on the success of their quest, Bubblegum headed to Chicle's lab along with Simon, Betty, Chicle, Lolly, Peridot, Neddy, and Eria to plan their next moves with the aid of G2. Bubblegum also wanted to create a list of objectives for herself to help create a better future for Ooo.

The list of objectives included stopping Retinz and his forces from giving Gumbald access to the magical weapons and objects contained in the vault beneath the Magician Kingdom. After a bit of discussing with her allies and G2 the group decided to let Retinz go ahead with his kidnapping of Gata in the past and use her to open the vault. After the vault was open Bubblegum with aid of the Peace Protectors and the forces of Wizard City would swoop in to rescue Gata, defeat Retinz and his forces, and prevent Gumbald from getting his hands on Gems of Cronus, the Helmet of Cronus, and the Gauntlets of Cronus, so he wouldn't be so power and have a weaker control of the Timenado. Also the action would serve multiple purposes Gumbald would not get Retinz and his forces as allies, a few of King's men would get captured in the process, Gata would be thankful and possibly willing to help Bubblegum with some of her other objectives, and the magic artifacts and weapons would be taken to Wizard City and safely locked away or be used by the right hands. Bubblegum and her allies debated about attacking Retinz and his forces at the Magician Kingdom before Gata got taken, but decided not to. Other evil magical beings other then Retinz knew about the vault and Gata and by taking out Retinz and opening the vault they would get rid of some problems in the future.

Next on the list was making some levels of amends with the Fire Kingdom. Bubblegum still planned to go on trial, but she wanted to make some level of amends before the trail and warn them of Lord Infernicus and the Infernos. X and Marceline had given Bubblegum the idea to build new Sleeping Fire Giants to replace the ones she destroyed as an apology. The Flame King and Flame Queen would most likely be hesitant about such a thing, but Bubblegum would bring both Gata and Peridot along to assist her with the project as well as oversee her work to make sure she didn't try to pull any stunts. Bubblegum would also warn Phoebe and her parents about Lord Infernicus who would be working with Phoebe's cousins, Furnius and Torcho to create the Infernos and overthrow the royal family. This along with Bubblegum attending the trial for her crimes would save both the Candy Kingdom and Fire Kingdom.

Bubblegum would also investigate the Mount Milkyway Asylum to see what kind of work was going on there. She was told that the Phantomrider might have been a product of the facility, but Bubblegum and her allies only had the record testifying of a crazy person to go on, but it was still worth looking into. Bubblegum admitted she hadn't kept up with the asylum and she let the staff have free range.

Then there was trying to figure out what Bubblegum had done to anger the Lizard Kingdom, Breakfast Kingdom, and Farmer Village. Bubblegum had no clue what she did, but she needed to prevent those three civilizations from siding with Gumbald.

King also needed to be warned about Gumbald's treachery to takeover his forces. Bubblegum may not have liked King, but she rather deal with an army lead by him, then Gumbald. If King became paranoid of Gumbald, there was a change he would kick Gumbald out of Castle Lemongrab and possibly kill him, thus getting rid of a huge threat. It was a small chance, but worth taking.

Then there was the matter of Ridley. Bubblegum needed to make sure Ridley was fully killed by Dominator or make sure he never intercepted the prison ship that held Ghostfreak and the other dangerous alien inmates.

There was also the matter of retrieving Schmoz's shoe and Citrus Twisty's bottle from the Ooo dump along with the offline body of Maltruant and his dangerous weapons. Bubblegum and her allies had seen the power of these beings and objects and thought it would be best to keep them out of the wrong hands.

There was also warning the kingdoms and civilizations about which groups from Castle Lemongrab were going to attack and invade them. Duchy of Nuts was going to attacked by the Pistachions, the Wildberry kingdom would be attacked by the Puckerberries, the Goblin Kingdom would be attacked by the Puppet Kingdom forces, the Gridface Kingdom would be attacked by the Cheese Ninjas, the Marauder Village would be attacked by the Bears, the Muscle Kingdom would be attacked by the dinosaurs, the Jungle Kingdom would be attacked by the Monkeys, the Mountain Kingdom be attacked by the Nagas, the Boneyard Kingdom would be attacked by the Spiders, the Slime Kingdom would be attacked by Gnomes and a massive giant robot, and the Tiny Mammal Kingdom would be attacked by the Ants, Worms, and Rats. Giving this warning would help the kingdoms and civilizations that got attacked to be better prepared and help prevent them from being conquered and ruin King and Gumbald's plans for conquest.

Then there was alerting Wizard City of a attack planned by Addwaitya and the fairies. That would hopefully save the Grand Mast Wizard's life and prevent Wizard City from falling.

Lastly Bubblegum decided she needed to cease all mass production on Safety Bots and other weapons and shut her factory down or repurpose it. Bubblegum also planned to destroy all the candy zombies and the research and records of that project after she showed them to Django in the past and apologized to him. She also decided she needed to put better fail safes and security on all her weapons and creations to prevent them from being taken and high jacked by Gumbald or anyone else.

It was a long and tough list of objectives, but Bubblegum was determined to make the very best of her second chance and use the knowledge of the future she had to create a better future for Ooo and put a stop to Gumbald.

If there was a opportunity to travel further in time, Bubblegum would try to stop the Cooler Incident from ever happening thus stopping the conflict with the Fire Kingdom and saving thousands of lives.

After making that list the group discussed a few important steps they needed to take to give them any chances of beating Gumbald's army. One of the biggest things they needed to do was destroy the Safety Bot and weapons factory to prevent Gumbald from producing more robots and weapons for his armies and allies. They also needed to make good use of the time bombs planted in the Lizard Kingdom, Breakfast Kingdom, and Farmer Village to prevent those three from joining any battles.

A small team would go into Gumbaldia and destroy the factory. Bubblegum didn't hesitate to sign up for that mission saying the factory was her creation and responsibility and that she knew best how to destroy it.

Afterwards the group had a family dinner to simply relax and enjoy themselves. After dinner Bubblegum asked to speak with Simon in private. The two of them sat together on a balcony overlooking Sanctuary.

"So what did you want to talk about?" Asked Simon.

"I just want to know what's your secret Simon?" Said Bubblegum.

"Secret?" Asked Simon.

"How...do you keep it together and keep finding the energy to press on despite what odds you're up against?" Said Bubblegum.

"Well that's a good question. I was once a mortal man with no magic, until I found my crown. It changed my appearance and gave me powers during a really dangerous time long ago." Said Simon.

"The Mushroom War." Said Bubblegum.

"During that war a horrible bomb was dropped upon the city I was in and nearly killed me and Betty. In that moment of the blast all I could think about was protecting Betty and that desire unleashed the ice magic of the crown and I was able to protect Betty and myself from the blast. We lived, but a good portion of the world was destroyed. It was a terrible and sad sight that would have driven a lot of people into despair, but the main thing on my mind was trying to keep Betty safe and try to find supplies and other survivors. I searched the ruins of the city and found Marceline, who was just a child at that time crying and alone. I cheered up a little bit and gave her a teddy bear she named Hambo before I brought her back to Betty. The three of us basically became a family and I think that reminded me that despite all the horror and tragedy happening in the world, there was still beautiful things worth protecting, so I put all my focus and energy in protecting that what mattered most to me. It was tough and there a few tragedies along with the way, but eventually the world began to heal and life began to return. I managed to create a kingdom and home and as the years went by I found more prescious things to protect and those things gave me the strength and resolve to press on." Said Simon with a smile as he thought about all the friends and family he gained along the way.

Bubblegum looked at Simon with awe and she understood the reason behind his strength and resolve. She thought about her husband, her son, her grandchildren, her subjects, and all her friends. All of them were precious to her and she would do everything in her power to make a good future and world for all them. Bubblegum had been thinking too small, when she just mainly cared about her own kingdom and that had lead her into hurting Phoebe and the Fire Kingdom, who were her friends and had ever right to live and be happy. Now Bubblegum's eyes were cleared and she was more determined then ever to make things right.

"I Queen Bonnibel Bubblegum of the Candy Kingdom swear by the Cosmic Owl that I will help defeat Gumbald, return to my time, face the trial for my crimes, and do everything in my power to create a better future for our children and grandchildren." Said Bubblegum standing up to face Simon.

"And I Simon Petrikov, the Grand Master Wizard ruler of the Ice Kingdom and Sanctuary bear witness to this decree and I promise to aid you in the coming battle and aid you in returning to your proper time." Said Simon as he stood up as well.

The two monarchs smiled and shook hands. United in their goals to give both their children and grandchildren a better future.
