Chapter 47: This Would Make a Cool TV Show
Important Characters
Jessie (Male Tentacool/Ex-Human)
Roma (Female Lapras)
Cyan (Female Primarina)
Mismagius (Female Mismagius/Ex-Human?)
Chatty (? Tentacool)
As the monster of a pokemon lashes out with it's numerous tongues, Jessie and Cyan guard the escaping Roma with their attacks. Venom splashes everywhere as the seaweed is destroyed by their combined firepower. Some of it finds it's way to Cyan's fur coat, leaving bubbling blisters as it burns.
-"Prim-marina!"
"Try to get behind me, Cyan. That poison doesn't affect me as much as it does you."
-"Prima!"
With it's quarry lost, the Chimera Dhelmise screeches out, shaking the boat and filling the water with an ominous energy. Shadow Balls begin to appear out of the cracks in the walls and ceiling, raining down on the pair.
Jessie begins taking hit after hit, guarding his ally. One wouldn't think it given how prone to losing body parts he is, but Jessie is a pretty tanky guy, managing to fend off the worst of the attack with a number of Flung weapons. The remainder that find their way to him do leave some marks however.
Finally, when the hail of shadows ends, Cyan lets loose a streaking beam of moonlight which pierces through the chimera's main body. The anchor and wheel part from the seaweed, seeming to do a great deal of damage and rendering at least part of this monstrous opponent immobile.
"Good one! Now, let's wrap things up before-" Not getting to finish his thought, Jessie is struck with a strange power, a Hex originating from the pool of bubbling sludge beneath the chimera!
"Guh, that was a cheap shot!"
-"Primarina, prim?"
"I'm fine, don't worry about me. Listen, if we're gonna win against this thing, you ought to know what it is. Chimeras, like Mr. big, rusty, and ugly here, are a fusion of a pokemon and a human, or I guess in this case a pokemon and a former-human. If that thing under all that goop is using ghost moves then-"
-"Pri..."
"Yeah, it probably got hold of Mismagius somehow. She's a ghost with connections to this old ship, so it's likely she was a human at some point. Which would mean that a ship-based pokemon like Dhelmise, at least that's what I think it is? Would have some kind of connection to her. The Chimera could have formed using that."
-"Prim pri!"
"So Dhelmise are ghosts to? Okay, so it might be a former human itself. Something to think about... But later! It's gonna start attacking again! Get ready and use any tricks you can think up, this isn't an opponent we can hold back against!"
-"Prima!"
With no more time left to strategize, the two ready their moves as the terrible creature summons numerous twisting vines of seaweed from the toxic pool!
Cyan blocks the toxic whips with her Moonblast while Jessie uses Fling to deal some damage to whatever down there is sending out all those attacks. It seems effective, but the battle is slow going. And the longer it's taking, the smaller the room is getting. A few more minutes and the pair will be forced to contend with the gnashing maw this ghost has created on the far, yet ever encroaching, side of the room.
"Running low on ammo here, how are you holding out?"
-"Pri-Primarina!"
"Huff, you too huh? Alright, one last push."
Sharing a look, the two disengage from the seaweed and circle round either side of the room aiming for the rear. Boards within the walls split open, wide jaws poised to bite down on the pair. But Cyan's elegant swimming and Jessie's erratic propulsion confuses the monster long enough for them both to get into position.
"Now!" Both of the pokemon loose their most powerful sonic attacks, Hyper Voice and Screech! Here in this limited space, the echoes bound around the room shattering porthole windows and rending open great gashes in the wood!
With a loud crack and a burst of electricity, the lights on the monstrous stage's face explode! Blinded, it lashes out at anything and everything, doing more damage to itself than either of these two, but it's still not enough for a decisive blow. Though the main body and the horrific stage creation are down for the count, seaweed still continues to spill out of whatever is down in that pool of venom!
-"Priiiiii!" Creating a massive bubble, Cyan lobs the attack into the sludge. It parts, just for a moment. Jessie stares down at the twisted visage in shock.
"No... CHATTY WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU DOING IN THAT THING?!"
The jellyfish, wreathed in kelp and ship parts like some kind of underwater mummy, launches from the muck and begins the second phase of combat.
Elsewhere in the ship, Roma swims around in a panic. The curious creaking had rapidly turned into concerning crunching and the ship seemed to be cannibalizing itself. Everywhere you looked, bits of scrap were being pulled deep into the space between boards which rapidly slid closed as though chewing. The hallways were gradually becoming warped and claustrophobic.
-"Lapras..."
Rounding a corner, Roma spies a room filled with pulsating sacks of algae and other plant matter. Venom drips from them and she had no intention of finding out if she inherited her father's immunity to the poisoned condition... She's adopted, so probably not likely.
About to turn away, she spies something odd. A glowing sack which seemed to be constantly withering and being replaced with fresh seaweed. Taking a big gulp, the brave little Lapras exhales an icy breath over the sack, Freeze-Drying it! Ropes of green rapidly turn to brown sludge in mere moments revealing-
-"BOO!"
-"LAP!"
-"Haha, sorry kid! I know I said I wouldn't use the same trick twice, but this was totally the reaction I was hoping for!"
-"L-l-lap Lapras!"
-"Ah... bad timing then?"
-"Lapras lap lap lap!"
-"Okay okay, I get it! Your dad and his lady friend, not dating, need help. *sigh* Probably should go and stop those two from wrecking my house... it does look a lot cooler now though-"
-"LAP-RAS!"
-"Okay! I'm going! Jeez, you're a pushy brat. Honestly though, I'm just worried. I don't think I have any moves that can beat a baddie like this... Well, except for 'that' move."
-"Lap-lap?"
-"It's a family secret, you could say. Something only we ghosts know how to use. It is said that once this 'forbidden' move is used, doom is sure to come for it's user. I dare not speak of it further."
-"...Lapra. La lap?"
-"True! I did say that death is just a strongly worded suggestion, didn't I? You're a quick study, kid!"
-"Lapras!"
-"Alright, you've twisted my beads. Let's go save your old man! Here's hoping the jelly-grump can hold onto his lunch after seeing my scariest trick!"
