*Volume Intro*
"Ruby!" Starting off with Weiss scolding the girl, "I told you this was a terrible idea!" Behind them seems to a black material, though since they aren't in a farther away view, it's honestly hard to tell what it is.
"We're fine, stop worrying!" "I am soo far beyond worrying!" Ruby raises a brow, "In a good way?" Was her stupid question. "In a bad way! In a very bad way!" Weiss clarifies, sounding more angry as the banter continues. "Well, why don't we just jump!"
"I'm not surprised your first idea was to jump, Ruby." Ruby gasped when hearing this from her sister.
"What are you? Insane!?" Weiss yells in utter disbelief, only to find Ruby missing from where she once was. "Oh you insufferable little rat!"
"I told you to jump." Ruby says in her defense, though she just gets a very hard glare from the girl sitting next to her. "Ok, maybe it wasn't the best idea, but it got us to the temple didn't it?" Weiss huffed and turned her attention back to the screen, ignoring the girl's excuses.
Yang is waving in Blake's face as she tries to get her attention, who is seen still looking up at the sky. "Blake, did you hear that? What should we do-" She was cut off, Blake pointing up to the sky.
Yang finally looks up and sees Ruby free falling. "Heads up!" But she is put into slow motion to show Jaune thrown directly into her, causing the two to crash right into a tree. Blake and Yang simply watching.
To show Ruby's dizziness, above her head are circling stars and barking beowulves. "What was that?"
"That was a collision course between you and Jaune," Yang says, stating the obvious. Thus getting a look from her sister.
This look then becoming the source of her laughter.
She shakes her head to regain her focus. Jaune clears his throat, Ruby looking to see him upside down from a branch above. "Hey Ruby," Was all the poor guy said.
"Did your sister just fall from the sky?" Blake asks Yang. The girl in question couldn't get a word in as Nora comes riding in on the alpha Ursa as if it were a pony. "Aww, it's broken." She moans in sadness, as if she were a three year old getting their candy taken away. Ren appears behind. "Nora," Ren says, trying to gain the breath he so rightfully needs. "Please, don't ever do that again." Ren just looks up to see Nora gone. Pink dashes are in silhouette of her body, blinking, indicating her missing form.
Nora stares at the golden rook with amazement. She grabs it in victory, a background of pink with gold stars and her symbol behind her.
Ren looked at the scene fondly, shaking his head silently in amusement at his best friend.
"I'm queen of the castle, I'm queen of the castle!" She repeats in a sing-song voice. "Nora!" Ren calls for her in exasperation. Nora gives a salute pose, the rook falling off her head as she tilts it. "Coming Ren!"
Nora skips off in a cheerful skip. "Did that girl just ride in on an Ursa?" Blake asks.
Y'know, knowing her friends now, she doesn't fully understand why she was asking so many questions when this honestly seems like the norm.
"I-" Yang not getting a word in when a screech is heard. Turning out to be Pyrrha still running from the scorpion grimm.
Two sights to behold. "Jaune!" "Pyrrha!" The both of them yell each other's names, granted, Jaune exclaimed dangling, still upside down. Ruby voices her amazement, making her way down the tree, leaving Jaune in the process as he calls out for her.
"Ruby?" "Yang!" "Nora!" Said the final girl cuts in between the sisters when they were just about to go in for a hug. Blake stands off to the side, awkwardly holding her right forearm.
"Did she just run all the way here with a deathstalker on her tail?" Yang clearly has had enough of the questions, and interruptions as she bursts into flames. "I can't take it anymore, can everyone just chill out for two seconds before something crazy happens again?"
Don't worry Yang, I couldn't take anymore of my questions either, Blake thought as she watched the Yang on screen burst.
The sound of a ticking clock is heard, only ticking for a literal two seconds with everyone around standing still. When the two seconds are up, the clock dings. Ruby gains Yang's attention when slapping a hand on her arm, looking up, same as Blake. "Um, Yang."
The blond sighs. In the air is Weiss holding on for dear life on the tip of a Nevermore talon. "How could you leave me?!"
"I told you to jump!" Ruby shouts, as if that was a good defense.
"I said jump." For how it came out, it sounded as if it were basic common sense. "She's gonna fall." "She'll be fine." "She's falling."
Finally having himself righted, he smiles at the situation, which is honestly pretty bad.
Everyone could both hear the groans coming from Jaune and Weiss.
Propelling himself from the branch, his arms extended, Jaune caught Weiss in a bridal-like position. "Just dropping in?"
"Eeesh, that was bad. And horrible timing." Everyone looked at Yang, like she was one to talk.
The girl looks at him with slightly widened eyes. The beautiful music cuts as the two look down. Holding onto each other, their eyes looking at the screen with small pupils, they drop like an anchor. Both of their weapons are left in their wake before following them in their harsh descent to the ground.
Jaune falls face first, Weiss landing directly on his back.
Everyone recoiled, wincing as that had got to hurt.
"My hero," came a sarcastic response. The girl checked her nails in ignorance.
I could have used my glyphs, but I also could have at the very least thanked him. I'm pretty sure I broke his back from that, Weiss thinks with a wince.
Behind them, the deathstalker won't let up Pyrrha's tail. "My back," the poor boy groans.
The deathstalker gives a screech and knocks Pyrrha in front of the others. "Great, the gang's all here, now we can die together!" Yang says with a little too much enthusiasm.
"Not if I can help it," charging, Ruby dives in head first to defeat the foes in front of her. With widened eyes, her sister calls for her. "Ruby, wait!"
"You gave me a heart attack, Ruby!" She was so glad Weiss saved her. She couldn't afford losing her sister too. I would have been too much.
Ruby faces the deathstalker but is knocked back on its first hit. Knowing this wasn't a fight she could do alone, she retreats. With the deathstalker running after her, Yang calls for her sister in horror as she makes her way towards her. Above them, the Nevermore screeches, targeting a large amount of feathers toward Ruby, one of them catching the end of her hood, preventing her from escaping.
Yang stops, and in time, as the projectile of feathers just misses her. Ruby yanks on her cape, trying her hardest to get free.
"Ruby, get out of there!" Yang screams, praying to the Gods above she makes it out of this alive. "I'm trying!" She tugs and pulls, but her efforts are sadly futile.
They knew Ruby had gotten out fine, but that doesn't mean the feeling of terror is gone from having to rewatch this.
A golden singer looms overhead of Ruby, ready to go in for the kill on its defenseless prey. "Ruby!" Screaming in horror, desperately reaching out a hand for her sister to take, in any hope of saving her. "You are so childish," stinger being a mere inch from piercing the girl's head, only to be frozen in place.
Breaths of relief are spread throughout the room.
"Weiss?" Confusion evident in her tone. Ruby lowers her arms, as if that would have helped as a last resort. "And dimwitted and hyperactive and don't even get me started on your fighting style and I suppose I can be a bit," a wince is evident on the young huntresses face, "difficult, but if we're going to do this, we're going to have to do this together. So, if you quit trying to show off, I'll be…nicer."
"I'm not trying to show off, I want you to know I can do this." She responds, dismissing the fact she almost died five seconds ago. But, to them, now seemed as good a time as any to let the truth out, letting each other know that they're gonna have to learn to trust one another.
"You're fine." Leaving the girl who remained to sit in the grass. "Normal knees," whispering to herself in success. Finally taking notice of the trapped Deathstalker. It shakes itself in an attempt to break the ice, the glacier doesn't even react with a single crack or shatter. Ruby finds herself in a bone crushing hug from her sister, groaning from the tight and unexpected squeeze. "I'm so happy you're okay."
"Yang…" With the little air she is consuming, she gasps her sister's name in an attempt for her to be released. "Oh! Sorry lil sis," apologizing as if she had no clue her body subconsciously brought Ruby into a tight hug during that scene.
Unbeknownst to the sisters, Weiss was trying to do the same, but only managed to bring Ruby's right hand into her's. Realizing this, Weiss quickly let go of the girl's hand and hoped that she mistook it for Yang instead.
Screeching above them, the Nevermore hovers above them. "Guys, that thing's circling back, what are we gonna do?"
Taking charge at the moment, Weiss states the obvious. "Look, there's no sense in dilly dallying, the objective is right in front of us." "She's right, our mission is to grab an artifact and make it back to the cliffs."
Already coming to terms with one another, partners Whiterose share an affirmative nod with each other. "There's no point in fighting these things."
"Run and live, that is an idea I can get behind."
"That's any idea any person can get behind," Ruby says to the boy.
Ruby grabs hold of the golden knight, Jaune, who's by her side, takes the golden rook.
The Deathstalker makes more headway with its escape, cracks on the ice becoming visible to the two teams. "Time we left." "Right, let's go." The teams follow the young girl, who quickly stops on a rock, gesturing them all to follow.
Yang holds a smile as everyone runs past her. Confused, Blake asks if something was amiss. "What is it?" Yang relieves the girl of her worries, smiling with pride at her sister "Nothing."
Giving a smile once figuring out what it was. Yang just being a proud sister.
Yang is still proud of her baby sister. She's grown and learned so much that it almost scares her to think of her sister when she was back at Signal and now.
The eight rush to the cliff, Nevermore looming and flying overhead, watching their every move. Each of the pair hide behind a stone pillar, staying out of sight from the beast's view.
It makes its perch on the highest stone tower, screeching down to the students below, preventing them from finishing their objective to reach the north cliff. "Well that's great," having no problem in voicing her displeasure. The deathstalker makes its grand entrance, having broken free from its cold prison. "Aw man, run!"
Everyone proceeds closer to the winged beast, "Nora, distract it!" Doing as told from her partner, dodging feathers in the process and bringing out her weapon. Opening firing, a bullet bomb causes it to come down from its tower.
Making itself known, the deathstalker appears behind her, but is given time to escape, Weiss helping her, as Blake and Ren combo slash it.
Both teams cheered on their respective teammates, making both of them blush a little.
Ren and Blake make little distance as the deathstalker isn't that far behind. Pyrrha stops at the start of the bridge, along with Ren, telling them to keep going. Ren and Pyrrha repeatedly shoot, retreating when the large grimm comes to close for comfort.
The Nevermore crashes into the stone bridge, ultimately destroying it, splitting the teams in two. Blake, Ren and Pyrrha are stuck dealing with the deathstalker, having nowhere to escape while everyone else is on the opposite side. "Man, we gotta get over there, they need help."
"Let's do this", not looking very confident, Jaune looks over the edge. Small piece of it falling down the foggy abyss. "Yeah, but, uh, I can't make that jump."
Giving an evil smile, Nora knocks Jaune back, spinning her gun that transforms into a large hammer. Directly hitting the edge of the stone platform, much to Jaune's dismay, launches him to the other side. Leaving a small explosion on where she hit.
Standing on her hammer, she blasts herself along with him.
Slamming the head of the hammer on the grimm's skull makes it give out a screech. Seeing its stinger head towards her, she propels herself backward, avoiding the incoming attack, but the impact from her avoidance causes her to slam into Blake, leaving her to fall off the edge.
"Blake!!"
"NO!"
Yang brings Blake into a crushing embrace, not planning on letting her go anytime soon.
"Yang, please let go, I'm fine, I'm okay." The blonde shook her head and simply held the faunus tighter. "Please?" She was only answered with resistance, the girl sighed. "Could you at least loosen your hold?" With a few moments of silence, she felt she could breathe more freely, but she was still held tight enough to where she couldn't get out easily. She knew she could very well free herself, but some part of her didn't want to. That part of her loved the warmth radiating from the blonde, and felt safe in the women's clutches.
Overriding her voice of reason, Blake nudged and maneuvered around the little space she had, getting comfortable in her partner's arms, relaxing and sighing out of defeat once she was in a suitable position.
A small flush spread across Yang's cheeks, not really expecting this. She was in the process of removing her arms when she heard the smallest whine come from Blake. Both girls froze, Yang's blush spreading, and Blake refusing to look at Yang. Thus, leaving the two in an awkward silence. But, even with these deterrences, they never separated.
Saving herself by attaching Gambol Shroud to a part of the stone structure. Swinging herself up, and using the momentum to slash the Nevermore. "It's tougher than it looks." "Then let's hit it with everything we've got", was her response to the analysis, reloading her gauntlets.
Team RWBY prepares their weapons. Blake and Ruby change theirs to sniper mode.
Enduring all their advances, the Nevermore crashes into the stone, chunks of it flying everywhere. Team Rwby uses it to their advantage and uses them as leverage, bringing themselves to solid ground.
"None of this is working", stating the obvious. Thinking it over, Ruby turns her gaze to all her friends. "I have a plan, cover me."
"We got to move", Jaune suggests, seeing the Deathstalker unfree its stinger. Running directly towards it, Pyrrha avoids an attack from its pincers, Jaune covering her from the other. Team Arkos holding off the Deathstalker pretty well. The deathstalker screeches in pain, getting a spear to the eye. The cause and effect left Ren being swung into a stone wall.
Nora gasped, checking Ren for injuries even though this event took place months ago. But Nora wasn't having it until Ren had to physically stop her, telling the worried girl that he's fine.
Observing the swinging stinger, Jaune calls to his partner. "Done!" Swiftly reacting, she throws her shield similar to a frisbee, effectively detaching the golden stinger from its tail.
Once retrieving her shield, Jaune calls Nora. Jumping on Pyrrha's shield, she's launched into the air as she sits on her weapon. Laughing childishly, she fires herself back towards the ground, spinning and slamming her hammer on the Deathstalker's head.
Being launched back to safety, the grimm fell to its death with the rest of the bridge. The team regrouped, all with an awesome pose. Except for Ren, he landed flat on his face.
Ren groaned from embarrassment. That was not one of his best moments.
Facing the final threat, Yang lands a direct hit on the eye. Nevermore screeching in pain, it loops back around, heading straight for the girl. In slow motion, it seems as if Yang will be swallowed whole, but no, she stands in the jaw of the beast, repeatedly blasting bullets inside and to its stomach. "I. Hope. You're. Hun. Gry!" Every word is punctuated with a fire from her gauntlet.
Yang and a few others were the only ones who found this scene funny.
Yang backflips from its mouth, just in time for the Nevermore to hardly impact the cliffside. Heading back to her team, it was Weiss's turn to play. Creating a barrier of ice on the tip of the bird's tail, preventing it from escaping. She retreats to her team, Blake launching Gambol Shroud for Yang to take the other end. Ruby's scythe gives it pressure, pulling it back. Weiss uses a gravitational pull, holding Ruby next to her.
The whole thing fabricating their own slingshot. "Of course you would come up with this idea." "Think you can make the shot?" Humming with a smile, "Can I?" To a confused Ruby who asks again, though Weiss yells at her, assuring Ruby she could.
Launching herself, the Nevermore has a scythe to its throat. Weiss keeps Ruby grounded on the cliff using her glyphs.
Ruby screams as she drags the Nevermore, finishing the final blow by decapitating its head once she reaches the top.
The camera recedes, showing the body of the dead grimm, falling into the abyss.
"Woah…"
Ruby walks to the edge of the cliff, looking down on its terrain. "Well, that was a thing."
"Yeah! Team RWBY!"
The sisters yelled in unison, Weiss didn't join in the yelling, but she had a warm smile plastered on her face. Same as Blake who leaned in closer to her friends.
Going back to Ruby, the sound of applause was heard in the background. "Russel Thrush, Cardin Winchester,"
The students in the room booed Cardin on screen, wanting to throw something at the screen, but they didn't feel like facing Raider's wrath who seems a lot more powerful than she looks.
"Dove Bronzewing, Sky Lark." Ozpin introduces one of Beacon's newest teams. "The four of you retrieved the black bishop pieces. From this day forward, you will work together as Team CRDL [Cardinal]. Lead by, Cardin Winchester."
Everyone in the audience claps. Jaune and his friends are the next ones to make their way onto the stage.
"Jaune Arc, Lie Ren, Pyrrha Nikos, Nora Valkyrie. The four of you retrieved the white rook pieces."
Hm, the students took a bit of notice how from this screen, the chess looked more like a gold color than a white. Maybe they were just moldy.
Can chess pieces get moldy?
"From this day forward, you will work together as Team JNPR [Juniper]."
Both Jaune and Nora bring up their hands, hoping for a high five. Which the two were granted from an amused Ren and Pyrrha.
"Lead by, Jaune Arc." "Huh?" Flabbergasted that he was chosen to be leader.
"L-Lead by…?" Nodding his head in affirmation, "Congratulations, young man."
Pyrrha gives him a friendly punch, not expecting it as Jaune falls on his butt. Laughs erupted in the background.
"And finally, Blake Belladonna, Ruby Rose, Weiss Schnee and Yang Xiao Long. The four of you retrieved the white knight pieces, from this day forward, you will work together as Team RWBY [Ruby]. Lead by, Ruby Rose."
Yang ruffles Ruby's hair as Blake and Weiss look at Ruby appreciatively.
Ruby's surprise, as well as Weiss's, are clearly shown. "I'm so proud of you!" Bringing her sister into a large bear hug.
"Looks like things are shaping up to be an…interesting year."
Judging from what happened these past two weeks, yeah, this year is turning out to be a lot more interesting than they thought.
The screen raises into the sky to show their shattered moon. But it then presents the inside of a warehouse. Roman is observing the map in front of him plastered on the wall, in a current conversation with someone. He hangs up with a groan before lighting a cigar.
A grunt brings over a sum of money and a large suitcase. The grunt tells him to open it. When doing so, he is met with a grand amount of crystals. Picking up an ice crystal, he whispers to no one in particular, "We're gonna need more men."
The camera zooms in on the map, and on it are a bunch of marks, describing each section of Vale.
The camera fades to black, showing the end credits of the episode.
Each team member looked at the other with fondness, remembering when they were assigned as a team.
Their teams were something they would never trade for anything.
